By December 2008, 16-year-old Rubí Frayre was missing. Exasperated by police disinterest, Rubí's mother, Marisela Escobedo, took it upon herself to uncover the truth about her daughter's fate. Tragically, Rubí Frayre had been murdered; another girl lost to the pandemic of femicides plaguing the Mexican city of Juarez. Despite his confession, Rubí's killer was allowed to walk free.
