You listening to Carmody Central. Hey, what's goin on everybody, welcome to the daily social distancing show I'm Travilla today is Wednesday, the ninth of September and here's your quarantine Tipp of the day, if you can, break out on the bottom of your face because of your mosque. Here's what you need to do TAT A second mosque and put it On the top half of your face now at least you're break our lives symmetry anyway, and I show how the wind is cancelled. The sky is angry and once again, Donald Trump has been called on. Tape telling us who he really is. So, let's do this? People walk
To the daily social distancing show from tremors notes in New York City to your out somewhere in the world. This is the daily social discontent with criminal years. Let's begin with the end, we want to take it out to live shot of the Bay area in San Francisco. Stop what you're doing a look at your screen? This just doesn't look real, but you got wildfires burning in almost all sides, obviously other than the ocean, and creates the smoky orange haze that looks like dust or movie on Mars or something one. Local forecasters says that they're not expecting to see much blue sky in the Bay area until Friday or probably the weekend sweep Lord you sky all across the Bay area. Fires have chosen. Skies into an apocalyptic orange haze, which is free
everyone out anymore. It's not just the fact that the sky looks like gritty exploded in downtown San Francisco. What freakin people out is climate change has turned devastating wildfires into. Annual event in California and its clear here, I have one or two choices: either we do the hard work. We need to reverse climate change, or in the next ten years humans have rapidly evolving bitch asking to be something: that's a lot more fireproof. It's weird because the sky, is terrifying. But in a weird way chosen really beautiful. And so I'm begging all of the assyrian models out there to. Please not rush out to get photos in front of the irish guy. I know how you people think Hashtag mill, filter, hashtag, suffocating hashtag called nine one one. But let's move from some bad news to some bad news, its twenty twenty people. This is all we got right now. Pharmaceutical companies around the world are racing to develop a vaccine for corona virus. That concern
countless lives and the freedom to freely lick park bench is once again, but one major vaccine trial has just hit a major snag. Setback in the race for a career of irish vaccine from a suitable giant asked resented, go pausing phase three of its global trials, because an unexplained illness in one of its volunteers, the company now has to determine whether its vaccine might cause widespread adverse reactions. You see this is why we need vaccine trials in the first place, because right now. One person in that trial has an unexplained illness. Possibly from the prototype vaccine, but you as if they just released this thing to the public without proper testing we I'll be out in the street at random diseases and mutations? I mean on the bright side. Maybe some of us would develop their fireproof skin, but but still now,
The science is still don't know yet whether the illness is related to the vaccine. Try or not, but I think I know what happened. I think what happened was Corona virus. True, the vaccine and said: look man whatever the humans are paying you I'll pay double. We gotta find a vaccine for the vaccine. Yeah, I read Facebook I know what's going on, but let me just say that I am incredibly grateful for all of these people who injecting themselves with a vaccine without knowing whether its safe, because they doing it for the rest of us and in a way I know how this feels and also same way my family would make me drink the milk in the fridge to see whether or not it had gone bad spoiler. It was always bad, but until the vaccines are available, we just have to keep wearing mosques and socially distancing as much as we can which is why, in the UK, we have now decided that it's time for the british
party a little less hard as Europe struggles with a surgeon. Ukraine of ours cases, the UK tightening restrictions, the government say social gatherings can include no more than six people instead of the previous thirty allowed in England. From Monday. When introducing the room of six, you must not meet socially in groups of more than six, and if you do, you will be breaking the law. Yes, starting Monday in the UK, no more than six people can socialize at a time. Six. Very specific number. It also We think that bars Johnson has a seventh friend but he's trying
kick out of the circle of friends. I thought understand, Boris. Why corn? I hang out with the gang. Won't you you see. They were already six of us here, and scientists say that seven is cupboards favoured number will what if I came early, then I will just be the third person. Oh no, you you'll always be the seventh person, no matter what time you arrive, but look these restrictions are better late than never because man, those Brits can potty hard, as someone who has spent quarantine binging, all of the great british bake of I'm telling you now those people out of control, they put cocaine on everything. Now corona isn't just cancelling policies for the living because in LOS Angeles, even ghosts and goblins are now being told
day, safe, no trick or treating that's. What health officials in LOS Angeles County, are saying this morning the Department of Public Health era, saying door to door for candy is just too risky this halloween they say it poses a higher risk for spreading corona virus Halloween is still more than a month away, but the department is hoping that this will give people enough time to find other ways to celebrate the holiday, their encouraging online parties and contest, and maybe some dry through activities are you serious crime we are treating as council does fall, so one I'm gonna have to male all the kids in my neighborhood razor blades and I want to be honest guys. I dont know if this is gonna work. First of all, I dont think nine year old should be driving. That's just me. Ok and second, no, DR, through experience ever ends the way you want high I'd like a full size. Snickers, please,
Pennies candy bars the old monopolies in avenues, thus rocking early after years of hashtag, Oscar so white. The motion Picture Academy has announced a major rule change to hopefully make the Oscars hashtag so rights. The Oscars are making inclusion a requirement for basque picture consideration, starting in twenty twenty four. Those movies must meet diversity requirements into outer for production categories, widening opportunities for under represented groups. They include women, minorities and people with cognitive war, physical disabilities promoters of the initiative say the changes will better reflect the diversity of the movie going body is so. This is encompassing the totality of the people actually work on a film, oh shit, from now on. Movies can only be nominated for best picture if they meet certain diversity thresholds. Remember schools easy is right. Now he is shooting himself
he's probably calling Dicaprio begging him to make a plan come on. Kenya show you can't play black. You can do it a thing. I know you can personally This opens up a bunch of opportunities. The long running franchises, we'll just switch up the races of people and never address it. How do I would be if in the next Batman movie he just jamaican? I and I made about mine mine while one Did you are going to achieve what our team- What do you want to see what you're gonna do that now? You know those vonny men is as soon as this story came out, so many people read the headlines and they just started panicking. Bitching online people like this is censorship. You can first filmmakers to create. What do we want? I mean: how can you make a period peace with diverse? We now know blind people were few actually read the story before charming in. People, have realised that in fact, these new standards, which only take effect and twenty twenty four- I'm not that strict, for instance,
a movie qualifies if it has just one lead role from an under represented group and thirty percent of the crew from an under represented group as well, Or even if it has just thirty percent diversity in the marketing department or an internship programme for under represented group and by the way, they define under represented groups as black asian hispanic, indigenous people, women, the disabled community or members of the algae beating. You come in in other words its super, easy to meet these criteria? to take a quick break, but stick around, because when we come back we'll catch up on all the latest troms scandals there's more than one, like in a day how long we'll be right back I'm right, directed cliff dormant around here with this guy me, the guy who fail puppet school Jason Smith, Goodwin irradiated view that ideally by gets stuck at home with clear and Jason Jason Smith,

Welcome back to the daily social licensing shelf let's take a moment to talk about Donald Trump, president of the United States and the main reason Mcdonald sign, save billions and billions served. There was some big, crazy trump news today, and I know we say that every day, but this time it's true, I mean it's true every day, but this time
Also true- and it starts with the president and his administration, making a shocking legal maneuver this morning, an unprecedented move by the Justice Department, stepping into replaced president trumps private legal team to represent him in a high profile, defamation law suit. It means american taxpayers would foot the bill for the government defending the president in the suit by author aging Carroll, who says the President raped her more than two decades ago in addressing room at New York's Bergdorf Goodman's. The latest move protects the president from any potentially embarrassing disclosures justice department. Lawyers argue that, because the president was quote acting within the scope of his office at the time of his denial, he could be defended by government attorneys. While while we, while the Justice Department, is now defending trump, defamation suit against one of his rape accuses, which means taxpayers dollars are paying for this
are you know: that's gonna make a lot of people mad. Our taxes shouldn't we go into. This ban should be used to fund schools, to build roads and to draw weddings and Afghanistan on in case you wondering yes, this is Unprecedented four presidents, but I can't sound surprise at this point because- is basically turn the government into his own personal concierge service. I've, older One of transplantation does anymore is order always for trunk hell. I wouldn't be surprised if the boardwalk turns out to be one side of trumps new country house. Ok, now we need another wall and another one now though, in a roof in a pool and will finally be shave, from Mexico now, but since departments. Justification for defending trump in this case is that, when he said he didn't rape her, because quote she wasn't his type end quote. He did that as part of his official duties as president.
And I know that sounds wild, but remember what it says in article two of the constitution, the President shall execute the laws command, the military and re human, my boning anyone was less than a tan, but eight conservatives want someone to run the country like a business and what we'll corporate many using company resources to shut down sexual abuse accusations. You did it guys. So, once again we have big crazy. You spent in normal times will be Anyone talked about for a month, but because its trump is money, the only scandal that where to talk about today, now you might remember back in February and March Donald Trump was very confidently saying that the corona virus was not a big deal and it was basic just like the flu. But since then we ve all learn that that was bullshit. Well, too, it's come out the trump privately knew that it was bullshit.
Stunning, breaking news resident tromp in his own words, making clear he knew about the dire, threatens the corona virus, Mary Hurley, on a time he repeatedly told the american people they were safe. He deliberately withheld information from the american people repeatedly conceal details, but the gravity of this threat, because in his words he didn't want to create a panic, but a very tricky situation is indeed goes. It goes through air Bob, that's always tougher than the touch another touch. You don't have to touch the things right, but the air you just greedy air that sell it. Sir asked is also more deadly than you're on your Evan, your strenuous lose. This is five per. You know this is five percent versus one percent and less than one percent. So this is deadly stuff. I think Bob really to be honest with you. I want you, Taiwan at you. I wanted to always play it down. I still like laying down yes, because I don't want to create a panic. You didn't want to create a panic. You
I didn't want to create a panic, so what do you want for people too very calmly, been dying in the streets What's wrong, buddy, I'm dying. But its chill also Since, when has Donald Jane Trump Constant, by creating a panic that is literally his paper thing. Cities on burning suburbs are collapsing. Caravans of Antietam Mexicans are committing Muslim. Voter fraud campaigns. Slogan is basically look out behind you, but yes, Thanks to tapes of interviews, Trump did with Bob Woodward back in February and March. We now know that was fully aware of how the virus was transmitted and how deadly it could be. And yet in public he told everyone. There was no reason to be afraid and look I get that as a leader you dont want people to panic, but you also want to inform the people so that they can be safe enough
and is crashing a pilot will tell you to remain calm, but they also tell you to fasten your seatbelt and brutal impact if Trump was a pilot he'd, be like attention all passengers. Everything Why shaped browser for snowflake If you want to read your legs now is the part tat my bag, and this is really confusing, because at first I Tromp was too stupid to understand what was going on with the virus, but it turns out that he actually smart about it in private. But he also stupid enough to Hell Bob Woodward on tape ha no. I don't want to think and trumpet site. Am I the only one who thinks it's crazy that people keep releasing books where they reveal that they ve known the most incriminating things about Trump, but they only tell us about it. Now A medium imagine of poor Maria had this attitude of the British coming find out by pre honour in my book on Amazon. So
purposefully obscuring the threats of covert? Nineteen was the major revelation that took over the news today but remember me, would we interviewed Trump eighteen times for this book and he Reported Trump on Tipp toe There are plenty of other subjects to like racism, And believe it or not, it turns out that in private trump is a lot more aware of racism. Many acts like a real life. Again there is systematic or institutional racism in this country. I think there is everywhere they probably like here that most places or leisure that many pleasant, ok, but is it here in a way Didn't he an impact on people's lives. I think it is unfortunate, but I think it is wow. Somebody I finally got around to watching get out really is interesting. How poor- the Trump seems to know a lot more than public trump.
I mean this whole time. I thought they were gonna, be secret tapes of transferring the inward instead with us. We're tapes of him being an epidemiologist with a Phd in critical race theory, and you might be thinking all. But this is good news travel it music, from isn't as dumb as we thought? No, this is terrible news. Because you know that shows. It shows you the doll from is woefully mislead. The public? It reminds you that he's a combat. He lies about corona virus to protect his economy and his re election and he ignores systemic racism because he knows it exists, but he does it to protect his image with his base. And then, when all the bad stories pile up, what does he do? He tries to drown them out with some crazy news announcement like him saying that he's gonna point ten calls to the Supreme Court. We all is just like a threat to the Supreme Court's. Once again, we reminded today that Donald Trump doesn't care about America.
He cares about himself. He cares about his money and cares about. Who fits of his family and that's it- are we have to take a quick break, but when we come back, we will talk to the woman who invented gender reveals. That's right, invented them, and now she's coming back for revenge away.

Welcome back to the daily social distancing show so yesterday, we talked about how one of the biggest California wildfires. What spartan by an explosion set off as part of agenda reveal party whistling we're all asking the same question. Was it a boy or a girl, but also how to gender reveal parties become a thing and why Are they still a thing, What does he found out
gender reveal parties. They started out as innocent gatherings to share the blissful joy or horrible disappointment of finding out the assigned gender of your unborn child, but now they ve turned into this, and this reveal other baby boy said: passengers squib, Linda Safety, forest fire officials, are now confirming was started by aid shouldn't. Do revealed gone wrong, almost grenade that went off and exploded and cause this fire. So I met with general carboniferous. The blogger, who, through the very first gender, reveal party back in two thousand aim, is that what we hear Grand reveal Joe sky divers come down and light pink and blue dynamite you're a big fireworks production amid gaiters you have, we had a cake, yet a king
Did you ever stripper pop out of the cake and start a wildfire? No, we can see a picture became. Ass, the cake that started the. Whole train a very simple cake, I love a good party, especially ones, I'm not invited to these baby once we're getting out of hand. I think it is time for you to come out and publicly disavow gender reveal parties I definitely already said that, and peoples are definitely stop doing, that. You said that arise. That's good, I'm glad I got through to you. I like publicly disavowed gender veal parties for quite some time now about a year. I've been campaigning against them. So you technically invented the gender reveal party, but you do not condone gender reveal parties. That is absolutely true. I didn't call d gender reveal party. I exit coloured people taken a peep show her that's how we ended up with my son.
So what happened to change your mind? Somebody was looking for these sorts of the gender of your party and one of my old social media followers hack me into the conversation, and I was like well it's kind of funny that doesn't even coming about because we had our faintly picture taken recently in. There is my daughter she likes where tuxedo it's like kind. Ironic ends, people were alike, staunchest, and it became a story to become an opportunity for me to really speak up. Yes, the first baby to be gender revealed is in fact not eager to be defined by gender. I think the parties on the physically harmful for many of obvious reasons, blowing up the forestry and burning down things at the bar, But there are also very socially harmful when he entered the boring shed. No alcohol cheesy games
Now I mean socially you with the people in our society for a transgender and non binary people who don't fit on the spectrum. These are really harmful to them. Yet that I mean that's more important than the fact that their just boring, and even heteronormative people really are harms and incense by this idea of. If it's you know slogan we with the tractors or whatever it's a boy and then the girls are on the opposite. Spectrum in everything has to be pink into two. I'm sorry, my son just came in he heard too too, and he came running. It I'm sorry, my son is looking for his superhero toy, so My dolls and stuck to write No, not that I'm normative around here, you like dolls in plain dress up. You I'd pay stopping pink as his favorite color.
Yes, it is. Yes, it is pink. Is your favorite color ink is totally his neighbour. I totally agree with what you're saying. But how did these gender reveal parties evolve from cake eating to mass destruction? A lot of people out there are searching for likes on the internet, and it has caused a lot of problems yeah exactly who cares about lakes? I don't care instagram lights or there that Wolf, Blitzer blocked me from inside the stocking him yeah and out. That ultimately theirs it doesn't matter. What really matters is how you feel about yourselves how your family feels about you. Are you community field about you when you started forest fire? You are really acting against that goal. JANET. What would you say to the people who insist on continuing to grow? These parties be a little bit more responsible with the parties throw a different type of party like out. What's the baby's name, but you know
so much more possibilities with that, and I were there not his penis. That's a great idea. You should absolutely throw a party and reveal what the child name is gonna, be so that all your family and friends can sit around and judge the name. You ve packed and tell you stories about the assholes. They knew with your kids name. That happens. How was I was not attained would be a bad name for my kid, take it out. I hate my need some quiet time. Thank you so much for that desi when we come back I'll, be talking to the legendary actor and activist Jane Fonda. Shall go away. Wasn't backing for the baby social distancing shop so earlier today I have the honour of speaking with the one and only Jane Fonda about her new book on climate activism and what it takes to be a protest are fighting for. What's rights should consider these social distancing show what
some know you as an Oscar when some no using Emmy went through the years you ve been given every title from six symbol to rebel. Political organised and you ve been causing? What Jean Louis would call good trouble for the and part of fifty years for simple climate change is deep inside your bones. In fact, now you move to Washington DC to basically get arrested repeatedly, try and get more action on climate change. I would love to know in all the years that you ve been fighting. Have you seen any progress or have you seen a change that inspires you to keep on fighting I see change all the time. I see all the way back, starting in the beginning of the seventies. When I first became an activist People changing mostly women. I think women tend to change more than men, women, who had been very shy
scared to talk in public House wives who, when there was an emergency when their children were endanger, became these fiery warriors overcame their shyness and fought and won for their community. That's the kind of change I've seen over the six years that I've been an activist, and so I don't. I don't get cynical or or discouraged and I'm really encourage by people's ability to change your book entitled. What can I do and its on climate change, but when I found interesting about it, is you also talk about protest? You talk about challenging the status quo. You talk about fighting, you know, for equality and for justice, and what I really was entreat my was how you talk about the way you ve seen it for so long. You said you sort first as a sprint. And then you saw it as a marathon and now started to see there's more relayed race from generation to generation. What exactly does that mean
Well, what really got me to move to DC with a young climate strikers Gretta to Hamburg and all the other? There were many millions of it was the biggest global demonstration in human history. I think about a year ago. It actually is when it took place and I've met a lot of them since then, and I see how
they're carrying grief their morning about what's been loss and what they know will be lost, even if we start doing everything right because of all the heat has been baked in and they were saying, look we didn't cause this we're fighting for our futures, where the grown ups worthy adults- and I realized it's kind of a reverse logic- that they were passing of that time to older people to join them, and then we in turn are passing it back to two young people. I mean I'd be dead before the problem is solved, but I'm on a passage to young people. I mean you, you ve, been through at all from the Nixon administration tapping your calls and from the intelligence agencies basically trying to sabotage you and you know, get you on trumped up drug charges. People have tried to silence you for a very long time. This is something that's not a similar to what happens to some people today. Is that in their protest you know that people try to silence than they trying to stop them from speaking the truth and and and and speaking tools to power,
you, you have fought in a relentless way. But I wonder if you ve learned any tips and tricks on how to fight effectively in terms of advocating for change. Don't get impatient. Keep talking talking about like talk about the climate change. We have to keep talking about it. If we don't talk about it, we're not going to care about it. If we don't care about it, we're not going to do anything about it. So we have to talk about it. You know at family dinners with our uncle who doesn't believe in it. We have to listen to people find out what they care about and then pitch,
What we want to say to them according to what they care about you know if they care about their grandchildren, we want to have a future for our grandchildren. They care about birds, almost three billion fewer birds and North America. Since nineteen seventy, I mean that's just that's astonishing- that that many birds and disappeared, or can simply be the extreme weather events that whatever people care about. That's what you should focus on. Don't have anyone off your old, be open in especially to people who do not agree with you. The social scientists have studied this and they say this is really good news. You only need three and a half per cent of people to win And that's eleven and a half million people in the United States. We can do this. You talk about how everyday people can make a difference.
I know that governments need to do something. We know that cooperation can do a lot, but every people sometimes feel powerless. You know someone who go like. Ok, I don't use straws, but it seems like this still tons of plastic out there. I may not use single use packaging, but this story tons of trash going out there. Do you really? that is something that we as individuals can do to change the levels of pollution in the world. Absolutely we can stop being individuals and join with others so that the individual becomes the group. You know that The powers that be the american oligarchs? Basically, they don't want us to realise that their strength in numbers. They want us to be individualist cause that helps them because we're powerless as individuals. But if we join organizations and work with other individuals, we can make the changes happen. We cannot rely on government, we
The forests government to do what's right. That's why I keep doing fired, robotic it's why I wrote the book. I want people To take the next step. You know, for forty years with pleaded and repetition than with lobbied in with Marjorie protester that we protested used all the love lovers of democracy and we haven't been heard so now we have to. Civil does good trouble. Civil disobedience rested Morton than most people. I can think of and you become. We become somewhat of a hero online, because people say this is how you use your privilege correctly. Have you haven't comfortable being arrested like do you just have like it's like a thing we like out just another day for me, it doesn't gets you at all. Now
in our first of all and white, I'm weight and unfairness, and I have a hit tv series behind me and so I'm not gonna be treated the way you would more money in your famous so maybe wouldn't be created. The way you know some black here on the block would be treated minutes. I can't pretend that my experience is the same as it would be for a person of color. Then I've been arrested and before, and it was not so good. It was under orders of Richard Nixon and it was not good. I wasn't created some well this time I was choosing to be, stupid, I was engaging in civil disobedience and saw even though you're really giving up your power. You catch your you can't control anything anymore, you're in the control of the police,
what you are putting your whole body and alignment with your value, descended someone powering it's like stepping into empowerment into homeless, and, as I would look around and see the other people getting arrested, I could see they all felt. The same thing. Building community being part of a group of people that are fighting together is a joyful. What Why would you give to them? Jane Fonda, a young firing. Human being, who says, I want to fight for the things I believe in, but I may be afraid, and I may not be treated well when the policing counts me. What advice would you give to them? It is the same, as I said before. Dont be alone were so vulnerable when we're alone be part of a movement. That's what the joy comes from and that's where your safety comes from, if you're embedded in a movement. I think
