i've been to any of us by j money of budgets are sexy doc arm i just just documentary last night called american winter in man did a freak me out and made me want to cry at the same time in fact i'm came to admit i did to europe a little and places i can't stand a wash children and poverty the movie focuses on some families in the portland oregon area who are doing generally just fine and life and then hit a major financial rough spots and are now truly to just survive as in didn't have enough to eat their electricity is being cut off their being kicked out of their homes their feet earl explain can their children are suffering with them sad sedge and most of them also the same thing the first time they asked for help i never thought this could happen to me they were all middle class and then bam they can eat all of a sudden and when he watched him go to the food aid for the first time or pack up and head over to a shelter it really sinks in this case happen to any of us how long could use
what if you lost your job today and cant find employment for six months a year and your government assistance runs out where would you go all stuff we push the bag go ahead with the idea that it could never happen to us and if it did we deal with it at that point scary but true and honestly i'm one of these people to hear i try and play and make sure my savings and investments are growing i can live a financially free life forever berlin that's the main reason i'm doing it i'll think about losing my jobs or not be able to afford food heat or shelter i think about becoming elinor was all fine and dandy until crap hits the fan what would i do with my all my empire crashed overnight freak the avowed and then go and get it i was as i possibly can if i can get a job surplus from all my savings then move to a smaller place if you still can't get a job moved point from investment stan freak allowed even more if all that runs out move in with my parents and feel like a failure and me
we just maybe knowing my parents are around and mine to help at the drop of a hat is the reason i don't ever think it could happen to us i know in the worst possible case i can always fall back my parents support so perhaps i'm one of the lucky ones but how blessed are we to be able to have that families in this documentary have no one there are literally those two living on the streets or in their cars in the mom sometimes go without food so their children can eat instead makes you really a priest everything we have one of them even has a forty thousand dollar insurance bill because our coverage lapsed for one month and having to be the same time or daughter gus seriously sick for two thousand dollars for one bill can you imagine and you still here people ok about how they brought in on themselves and their on their own sorry it's so easy not carers in it he has a guarantee these families avoid a chunk of those financial ills of a lifetime had they saved yadda yadda yadda but who are we to judge i we perfect financial angels
oh and again when you're not thinking about going homeless at all of course you're not gonna plan accordingly words why one is a blog about this so badly today we he'd reminders but we see we don't need to turn our backs on the less fortunate if at the very least be as we could he won catastrophe away ourselves to take away number one have compassion for others number to be thankful for what you have number three reach for the stars but plan the worst number four realise at losing your job and money can happen to you number five continue saving and building up those emergency funds number six try building something for yourself no one can take away number seven continue educating yourself and growing retaining new skills number eight do whatever you can to protect your children dish enough to worry about a thing number nine
people are bad just because they can manage their money well it's a skill not a moral thing number ten and lastly love the shit out of each other without your family and friends your lost can you tell that movie took a lot out of me but we need every now and then we have to slap arson from our dreams once in a while so we don't get caught thinking were above it all these families and all others deserve basic human necessities like the rest of us and a fortune sometimes were left to fend for ourselves to go off your dreams but prepare for the worst he doesn't to the post sidled it can happen to any of us by j money a budgets are sexy dot com i agree we need those reminders were all in different places and financial situations but if you're able licences podcast things could be worse and anything can happen to us with an obsolete so it's hard for me to end with a plug of some sort so instead i just want to thank you for being a list of the show is yours
