the best blog i can find with other permission of course answer will be hearing from actual becker of becoming minimalist in became minimalism i i said a little while ago to my friends and to my mailing list but now seems like a good opportunity right here on the show the sum i worked on doing an updated audio book for the minimalist book essential which is a collection of a ton of their essays with bonus content it's a great book i'm so happy that they asked me to be the narrator for it it was a lot of work more than expected but totally worth it in a minute so the super kinds rather process as i figured out the specifications exactly how i need to record in all that fun stuff but anyway amazon audible in itunes finally released it it took in time but it happened and is now available now you can actually get this come really for free this audio book if you sign up for a trial of audible through me now
but audible will give a small amount to the show too so when when there and if you get this book specifically you'll be supporting the minimalist too so triple when you never tried audits is the perfect opportunity to do all those things you get a thirty day retrial and if you cancel your membership with them you to keep your first book for free and even pay a thing so does it get much better than that for all of that is go to old podcast dot com slush free to get your free book if you choose essential for you for first book extra thanks and a love if you can review at once you done listenin to thou be a huge job all a little longer than expected so let's get to this post quickly and start optimizing your life why saying you want change is not enough by joshua backer becoming minimalist dot com every sunday morning i drive by a park it's on left hand side of the street with a basketball court play structure and large soccer field clearly visible during the week in
financing evenings the park is full of excitement parents sit and talk children play teenagers rice keyboards in short the by basketball but early on a sunday morning the park tells a different story the disquiet completely empty except for one person who without fail works out in the field every weekend for like remember every sunday when i drove by that part the young man high school age exercising that park running spreads and working on his football skills with a private coach some weeks i am running forty odd spreads wiles trainer tracks his time with a stopwatch other weeks i find it i stepping through tyres weaving through cones or back peddling quickly to improve his foot speed but atomic dry by he is clearly exhausted oftentimes i've seen him completed rule and walked slowly back to the starting line he put his hand but his knees and take a deep breath the physical pain obvious even from my vantage point and then with a heavy sigh you'll put his fingers on the ground arches back wait for the whistle and push himself again i know
nothing of this young man i don't know his name his exact age or where he lives i we know then he inspires me he reminds a goal without action is not really a goal at all your mind me there is a big difference between saying you want something and actually working to make it happen my son is in seventh grade and loves play sports many of his friends do as well if i i love sports so much that want i asked them what they want to be when they grow up most will say i want to be a professional athletes their response doesn't surprise me when i was younger i said the same thing it is i'm a dream that has touched our grow no doubt even in high schools all over this country the dream of becoming a professional athletes remains in my mind i imagine this young man from the park plays on a football team at one of our local high schools his team full of other high school students many of which would tell you they have a goal to one day become a professional football player there are countless
is who claim they want to play in the inner fell but there is only one icy up early on sunday morning running sprints until his life's hurt there's only one working his tail off to make it a reality and i inspired because that is the dedication required to become a professional football player i will be surprised if he makes it one day the foreseen remains your conversation i witnessed shortly after graduating college a mentor mine was interacting with a gentleman older than me when the man made this statement i want to buy a corvette my into a responded to his desire quite frankly no yelled what he means course i do i'd like to own a corvette mentors with words i have never forgotten no you don't really want to buy a corvette you see if you really wanted to buy a corvette he d by a corvette you can sell your home and maybe also your business they would have enough money i agree that you say you want corvette but if you really wanted to buy corvette he be changing your life to do exactly that i learned valuable lesson that day for my mentor
saying you want something is one thing but actually doings thing about it is very different approval we desire most by our actions now by our words we see this an experience it all the time we want to get out of debt book we need to spend money on unneeded things we want to get in shape but never make the changes in our diet or exercise habits to accomplish that we want to start if you retirement but never pursue the answers we need to get started we desire a business or change jobs but continue to spend who needs a weakens watching television or how this one we desire to live in a quota free home but continue funny reasons why we need to keep all the stuff around us in each case what we say we want is different from what we actually pursue again saying you want something is one thing doings something about it is very different we prove we desire most by our actions not by our words so let me ask you what is it you want most what life changed
you desire then ask yourself this follow up question are you taking the steps necessary to accomplish their goal or settling for something else instead after all a goal without a plan is just wishful thinking he doesn't it to the post titled why saying you want change is not enough by joshua backer becoming minimalist stockholm well said joshua answers already spent a good amount of time mentioning this at the top of the show just summon up really quickly right now the minimalist new audio buccaneer aided by me totally free use our trial was audible by visiting old podcast calm slush free i'll get a little country vision from audible the minimalist probably will too in cancel your i will trial at any time in the first i think thirty days if you don't like the service and keep the book without paying a dime again just visit old podcast dot com slush free to get audio both essential by the minimalist for free or a girl find it by it however you want and that effort
