The new season of billions starting Sunday made
at nine p m only on Showtime, hey eyes,
So we have something new and different free this week it is not an episode of fire is necessary
The new behind yes, that Alex Nigh and their vile team have made, while even corned in it is called the scarcity cats. Horror show, and the premise is that I'm here
scared of scary movies, as we ve actually tied round the show for a long time.
Wanted to do the thing where Alex would basically curate Ellie List of scary movies, starting it not that scary and getting progressively scarier to see if it was possible to cure me of my fear
I'm. So that is what we are doing on this podcast were watching, went to scare movies, it SAM it's brutal, and if your
many who either enjoy a scary movies and just wants to hear someone be scared of them. While they are discussed, you could listens back ass, also
You're somebody like me, who is scared he had this, could possibly be an active public immersion therapy. Hopefully maybe so what you're right here is the first episode of new new podcast. If you like it, it has its own.
Feed if you don't, like. That's fine, we'll be back with normal reply programming next episode. One last note.
So episodes show are going come out on every other Tuesday on Spotify and then wider release ever
rules on Friday, every Emily
anything that has your pretty biogas plants by people sort of freak out. We promised this is not right.
Being in a direction of spot of. I flew seventy it just like. If you ever wondered about how to support or help the show, literally just listening on spot of, I did actually helps us. You don't have,
We're not gonna make you do at random things really annoying for you, but it helps so anyway. Here we go for sub, said
So the reason we are here today, I guess, is because
for a very long time. So when we talk about, is that I'm I'm
choose scared of scary movies. I have always been too scared. Scary movies, to watch them at all. Like I drive no pleasure from them forever. I was just
ok, that's fine, that's gonna, be a thing that just skips me and then cover.
There's a go, get out came out and it became such as I can see thing. There is always a great yo see it. It's not that scary witches were people. Always there are things that in fact, are that's harry, but I think for the first time I felt left out and like I want
to be able to watch it and, like also it seems to have served, argued in this era of like really smart, interesting, horror movies and I M feeling of healing missing out for the first time. So I started looking into it. I read a study that said that you can actually have a bitch. Wait yourself too,
movies. By watching them so cool you read, a study should increase our gas gentlemen Suke as it cool do in visa. The horror do meet his daddy,
but the reason that we're doing this is because I actually love hormones. I
consume horror movies. The way some people are consumed, popcorn when there. What when they're at the movie theater like I just I will why, if I'm, if I'm having trouble sleeping I'll, put on a horror movie and lay on the couch,
they're just like I find them nourishing and end like.
Irish nourishing nor
and in an Irish
I find them new, Rochelle and just like a joy- and I feel like this is this is the moment I was born for was just to teach PJ had of horror, also
The other reason I'm excited to try to do this and I use the word excited very loosely cuz. As soon as we decide to this, I was like. Why do we do this? But we've talked on the show and when we
have I've heard from a lot of people who are also in my boat- and my hope is that we could make something that's lake for people are like. I want to check out scary movies. It actually gives them like a road map, we'll see
Was it a watch? A movie, every episode, you're gonna pick a movie and we're gonna have guessed at least some time today. Our guest is comedian and fell Buff data mazurkas, oh,
I don't know of Jason. Are you scared? He had her now here, yet I am not. I will say that
I'm not scared a cat in that I don't. You know
from horror movies for, before being afraid, are easily scared by
I am neither like Alex horror
isn't one of my like genres, it's not one of my
go to ease our watch stuff, especially stuff that like you're, saying like that get kind of percolates through pop
sure, but I won't see gout like I won't go and watch you know. Annabel
Nino having our daddy yeah that that that that
you know every single blood house movie or every iteration of them
happenings movies or their vanishing movies or whatever you know. I don't even know these are like action figures that nine euro
they. None of these. I don't watch but like things that, like really like, like get out or the barber do,
or things a hereditary things that are certain.
Scary, but are also that aren't just like horror movie,
I just I don't get in, and I know the harm people are gonna get really like. I
they don't like the phrase. Elevated horror, I think, is a there like. It is
is a way that people used to describe those movies and I think horror fans don't like that, because their say
these are all horror movies. This is
the same. Is it just a way for people to act, fancy and be like? Oh you, like it
fancy horror, malaria in Cuba, there is in your hereditary, but this is the year it's the same design. You know I do as a person like, I guess kind of us not only think feels left out made ok to enjoy a snobby thing. I do. I think I do on a watch like I'm happy, and I have you do anything, I'm willing to watch all that crap outgoing made me watch, but the goal I think ass. We will watch. That's not the Suffolk like midsummer again. Imagine actually watching that by it. I'm tired of dislike having this sort of sit out stuff. Well, so I guess that we should prelate. We should protest, tell everybody what
we watched the Tsar first episode. Yes, so so far this is a disease. This is a rambling shambling met us. I don't mind that that a real talk, vodka, all three of Us-
professional podcast is one of whom does a movie podcast already, and this is- and this is an absolute
the other thing is going to say, Jason is like you, you also
watch- a lot of bee horror movies, because you make a podcast about shitty movies, correct
yes, I'm I'm one of the costs of how to
get made, which is a movie biogas about bad movies, not horror, movies, Pacific
but certainly horror, movies have been featured, such as chopping, more or less
Halloween threes season of the witch chopping. All
being minds about some people got based rather than a mall killer robots year.
It's really worth it
an example of like so fine, not really scary at all, but so fun right. So the movie that we watched for our first episode, which I'm worried now that people
I'm I'm, I'm simultaneously worried a wasn't scary enough and b I went too hard to fast. Was the exorcist Pga? I would love to know just what did you think about it?
have you for. I would like to know. First, have you ever seen the exorcist page it? No. I haven't seen
the only horror movies. I've seen are
movies. I was either forced to see you too, like literally like highschool era, peer pressure which a scream or I had to watch a few horror movies in college. They can
it out, for that will get, because this is kind of a this is a classic movie. You know an end, a classic horror movie. No, I know I
I was like it was one of the movies or is like I'm never going to see this movie, and I know that people really liked it and I'm just never going to see it, but I
This is a starting place because I don't I mean I listen. You also concur
actually have to understand. I'm so curious Pga your thoughts, but this movie was terrifying. At the time like there was nothing
I get the time. This was absolutely correct,
nominal, I read an article while I was well. We were getting this episode ready about a guy.
Sued the the their mood
production company because he fainted hit his face on this
in front of him and broke his job. Guys like my brother. Here
so Peter. Would you think it was in
sing I kind of had both both feelings. I both felt like he threw me too far into the deep and end like,
wasn't scary enough, weirdly ha. So because, like I found it first, I've just very scared to watch it. Like I spent I pulled off all week, I put it off,
today, I literally got down to the wire of lake, whereas taxing you be. I could we start later, because I waited until the running time is
two hours in two minutes and we are reduced
Seven hundred and thirty I was like okay state gives me until like five hundred and twenty or like five hundred and twenty till five hundred and twenty
and like them. There were. I downloaded like the directors cut, which is ten minutes longer
I did too, and then I had to change it to make the time work, and I was like
want. Ten mermaids, scary shit, like I'm sure that the
Four minutes are more scary, yet I had
I ve been able to weigh in beforehand.
I would have, but I would like to now as a
as the in
as you all know, any the first guest on any new podcast gets to make a rule. That's treasure! That's her! That's in the Pike S constitution, so
PJ's from now on, you have to watch the movies at night.
Here you back and watch any of these movies during the day s heart of what scary is
When the movies over its dark yeah, so so the recent kind, I can't tell us very
This I cheated and a lot away up up up up up up up up, as is the first ever. I do agree that people keep doing even when I say cheated. I just mean I behave in ways that I could imagine future rules outlying, but those rules have been invented yet
really not dropping in starting watching it out it during the day yeah. I want you during the day I stopped and started. I started with the blinds closed then open thou, my god,
one point I called her friend and made them watch it with me on faced I'm so what woe
J, ok, they're allowed to make a lot of us. I am I am likes.
Rarely my speechless, but I,
because you would have had such a different experience of this movie if you'd watched it all the way through at night with
nobody there with you, and that should
the intention of this podcast. Here's what I'm willing to say this. The first episode is in and
mitigated fail our right where five minutes so we're five minutes in and you have failed now. What my solemn promise to the audience is that because of these fuck ups pj's
get it together and from now going forward, I think Alex you should just choose brutal movies and
you should just started sending him like, like Ukraine,
in a horror movies that are not fazenda, lovely terrifying. Look. I would love to do that, but I know p Jane. I haven't. We have worked together, for it
years- and I know him well enough that, in spite of the fact that
we ve already sold ads.
We will bail,
I can only every day, if I, your dear illegally, on their greater, I was like literally, I was like how can I get out of this? We promised to do a bunch of episodes. How can I get out of this? Maybe we just put something else out, maybe maybe there's something that you don't know about that. I know about
it could change do instead, like I was like really convince Alex to do something where I win anything so so that so I did find it scary.
I found it scary, I was scared like I was anticipating being scared of it, and then I found a lot of it. It was a
it was that it has a weird rhythm, where the scariest that does not happen for a long time, yet that, in the tension
stopping in starting, you really hurt yourself, because I think what's wonderful, because it's a William Freakin movie, I think that's wonderful about it is
Naturally, he's telling can
current narratives, through the first act of the movie, where you're, following both the
is it it's Ellen burst in RE ass, an
in the Blair and the can like the the burgeoning possession
ray again and ears.
Simultaneously following Father carers through his life, and they are parallel. They don't meet for forty minutes and you keeping me- and I should say, where's a pause. I mean like it wasn't like half an hour pause. It was like just like I kept going to the bath
not necessarily because I'm scared our we're all gonna. Let that tension build Yankee J at what point, because you
watch a movie at first. It's just set up at what point do you start to feel dread? Is it from the big
mean, because you know it's scary movie or is there
moment that you are like a buck
had a lot o fuck I mean the first. I was scared from the title sequence.
The first moment of like shit, shit shit like I was lying at the tv alot throughout the first moment, which is like that. No eight, the first moment was a rack that guy put his damn hand in a hall, and I thought I was gonna crush him. I honestly I'm so scared watching scary movies, that
Tell if I'm being scared by things that are even supposed to be that scary. If you could like slow down your thought process, while you're watching these movies and not be so anticipating the scary
You enjoy them so much more because they're all these cues that tell you when things are going to happen.
Jill start to pick up on a notice. You know you'll start
c o because nothing, it depends. Some movies are full of jump scares where it like son.
Lay something's, gonna, jump out and scare. You and then said.
Movies like this are just like building towards terrified
in unsettling imagery or moments ran and that's what actually appreciated about this movie is it felt like it was kind of playing fair. It was like the scary. Things are going to happen in the room with the kid lake, when the four
says again his apartment, there's not can be like a demon under the bed like it's kind of lake
you'd, read it and imagine, what's going to have when you get there, but I'd like that that there are entire for somebody to just felt like you were watching a movie with characters and like decent writing and good. Acting in like I really like that, like that's what felt safe,
So could I sound like such a where you do here is seen because the way you're approaching it is almost as if it's not a movie, it doesn't feel like a movie where you like me. You know
parts where they were characters in scenes and unlike will wait a minute, yeah you're describing a movie cause you walk
among Pga, like you just heard it doesnt, really a movie
feel like you're, watching a movie and behind you there's a guy with a baseball bat who's going to hit you four to six times really hard during the movie and feel like you're you're watching the movie kind of, but so much of my brain is
like how bad it is going to be, and I and whence it gonna to be bad. And what if I told you if you watch the movie, if you just paid attend
into the movie. Those baseball bat hits wouldn't feel so hot
yet, as you will see the architecture, I have a hard time believing that, because I feel like this is the only thing that's protecting me is like trying to
get ahead of them. This is how I feel about cove. It
is literally a banking, and I think this thing
then I'll be safe. If I can just if I
be smarter than this disease, but the movies already been made your passive. You have no control, you have to see the control to the movie the whole time I'm trying to our like, like like one of the first things I did was. I was like other deadly and kill off the mom she screwed and in and not like. Normally, I can actually predict movies decently. Well, I was so
agitated that I was pretty like. I like it didn't occur to me for a full hour that I wasn't watching a slasher movie that goes
they're gonna, kill everybody, but the kid- and maybe the pre and it's gonna, be the very end lake. So I did now watch is so apart from the apart from the
your your unbelievable anxiety at b, anticipating being scared, whereas I went with them.
First moment. You actually got scared when she goes into the OECD.
There's a scene really early on where so there's a scene early on where she talks. I have like rats in the house, and you know the movies
The exercise of those are rather than the house, though I still and she's like coming
leaning one past dj, so I've been isn't rats and she's
she's complain to her, like large staff about lake and so you're like a cable. Their setting up did not like her good she's, gotta,
savages? I didn't you hear whether the rats and there are going over the rats and visibly them and she goes into the attic were definitely the devil is hiding to look for these rats and she's. Just like nothing happens, likes you
walks around very slowly with a candle and, unlike the hurling butler Grounds, Huber guy pops up with Russia is a guy when eating up here. I was really that
Very scared. Can can I just say that I was watching at with. Can I just say: Pga let my hands are the former actually missed the scary thing, because you were you in your hand, arise? What's the scary thing issues walking if she has a she's a later, I too share the waiter yeah she's, a candle she's, a candle, she's crops.
In the in the attic and suddenly a massive flame leaps out of the candle did you make
I do know that I did I literally such bad. What's your eyes like our work? Oh my god, it's so funny you're so
busy trying to anticipate? What's going to scare, you you're not present
in watching the movie you live in.
Instance unfortunate. Only because this happens to be a terrific feel like
the movie itself. This is a beautifully constructed incredibly well made movie right at the point where I started actually enjoy the movie, as a movie was lake,
so there's multiple scenes where, what's under Blair's, carefully religion, Reagan, Reagan, Ryan Reagan like rang again so day, like sort of figure out the cheese, a demon and doesn't just half link centres, think I hope they can work. She keeps even o jellia psychiatric problems like her heads fully turning around and she speaking Latin
and vomiting greens dove on people. I don't think this is like eighty the year whatever you know, the part where there actually testing heard a train for your what's going on with her and they they'll all they so scary, India
and in like a book baby. They like they put something in one if in one of her veins and all this blood starts growing up
She's, like she's in the hospital, unlike a sort of cat scan, looking machine, is already having a machine and they ve there sitting her any like put a syringe into her neck and then like put a line on the strained, and just so
Bloody and shook so vulnerable and like that was really scary, because I felt like I thought you were: gonna kill everybody now so two things about that particular seen first, is that when people describe when there are all these descriptions of people fainting and going crazy at the screening of the movie when it came out with primarily because of that seen because of just the amount amount and second of all,
we just because it because their hadn't been what what was knew about that seeing just was so bloody and such a realistic way, the way the blood pumped with the heartbeat in the scene, yeah, and then they would just say that seems I seen where anything de mining is actually happening.
Just using a medical procedure, and the other thing is its great about this movie right. You know that's what's great about this movie,
its primary knew to be scared by the supernatural things by
First scary, new with the medical
psychological and then supernatural ha, and it's like a tasting menu
the EU is doing, because if it really had just started supernatural you'd be like of what in them
cares is vague. This is, I don't even care what this is, but by praying
adequately pursuing what a real person would do. First go to. Doctors then go to fair abyss Van,
what what hope do we have? Let you, Chris Reagan's, mom, sort of place, the arrogant audience surrogate in this movie, she of being like a sceptic act like a reasonably skeptical person who exhaust all other
options. But to me she was an eye is sorry it could. I knew a move is called exercise, but really, I think
get on with the old. Like I know, what's going on, the other thing I read is apparently at least according to the director that
scene was used in like medical school to show people how to do it, because it was so medically accurate aware that medical staff,
loved, both in the fact that they made her go through two separate
very scary, strapped down medical procedures that were loud
and she was having intense reactions to them. Those are all
priming, you four winds
is strapped to the bed and convulsing and having similar,
You know you basically is it's giving you this story,
that is my
Can you understand, like oh medical stuff, can would look like this like stuff in my life could get her.
Yeah. We really it starts to sow the seeds of doubt in terms of if it was just like
oh, my daughter's possessed quick call the exorcist.
And of act one and then the rest of the movie was them battling. The demon you'd be like who fuckin cares with Citys,
at this movie- is that she pragmatically goes system
magically mad her
It goes in the same trend,
figure it out and knows that what she saying when she says what about possession
exorcism. She says the Father care. As you know, the unease like that
not been done in yet he was the of years. I have get a time machine to do that. Yeah
is, I was scared and that also there's some about watching her mom watch her strap down getting
medically put I hate to believe a dad on the podcast which, but I can't help it cause, I'm the dad on this, but that's just the dad in life. It really the whole movie to me just felt like an extended metaphor for not being able to protect your kids, o yo. I bet I was watching it thinking about covered at all my friends who have young kids, who are having to teach them and who are struggling with it and to me I was like oh, this seems like it's a movie about
why not kill your kids cause a really poorly behaved and like a loving and am but I'm having like complicated behavioral problems. Words like I love you, but you're, acting like a insane person. That's amazing! That's incredible! I'm gonna go ahead and say
that every text is open to interpretation, but I don't agree, that's what I mean there's a lot about what you think it must be like to have children who say: don't know anything and their very poorly ain't that so ok. The other thing it was interesting are watching this for me,
Is it even though event really scary? There were scenes that I thought were really funny, sometimes like, while they were scaring me like it. Wasn't like. Oh this malfunction and I'm laughing but like
They were so over the top like when she comes out and peace on the carpet and those really funny. I think that's just it such a weird, bold choice
I would like, and I am addressing design. I think that's good. I actually really that that seat that actually the way that it starts with, like the weight of the movie, starts where it feels like it could be some physiological problem at the kid
that grounds it for me, and rarely do you see a movie were like someone gradually falls apart, like that, it's usually within the spent like the shining, a movie that I love Jack Jack torrents goes crazy in the Spanish.
Ten minutes, but there are other things I ve only seen the shining, because I had due for a class and the thing that the thing I was thinking about with the exercise converted shining is like
the shining. It goes crazy right away into it, sort of like the same as in comedy it's like, because they already doesn't mean crazy everything. How
to escalate way more into the shining has to go to such an insane place, to meant them and it was scarier with the exorcist how the because they wait so long to show you their hand. You just don't know what you're gonna see when they finally show you something and then when it does get knots, it's like really,
not fool, that's what's that's what I like about this movie is like it's more like way
being in jaws. They dont show you the shark for over an hour. You know, you know the damage
it's doing. You might get quick shots of something happening, but you don't see the shark right for a very long time
you don't see the monster, and that makes it so much scarier.
So to your point, you know you're seeing the exorcist. You know this little girl is gun.
You might even know from cultural. You know knowledge that our heads bins around or what you know about any of that stuff, but the fact that they make you would not only wait for it but build
like these, I guess I hadn't watch didn't while so I'd forgotten. All of the how much time we say
and with Father carrots and his
mother and is like all of those components of building who he is before they come together because once he's once they engage and he starts in like investigating with Reagan, then it's like us, then it's like
very quickly, escalating, very darkly. So when I was watching it last night, I started getting super nervous. I watch it last night in preparation for this conversation. I said
super nervous as like, there's so much time you spend with Reagan in full on Demon
food where she just like sitting around chatting. I was like Peters I riskier by this at all the I picked stinker, I
joy debt. I founded scary. I was all
worry. I just want to mark this moment. This feels like a real triumph. Pga found it scary, Slash enjoyed it, and I want you to tell me I just just go not to tell me everything. I feel like I've fucked up somehow by saying that I did enjoy it, though I enjoyed it because
Most is like you get a glimpse of something horrible and lake. You never see its eyes and it's like dashing three quarters whenever and I like that you just they would go into the room where she she's like pretty quickly
you just they would go into the room where she's like pretty quickly. They just like tie her to a bed because they realize she's, a demon. Joe, is kill somebody with it. Oh god, we had talked about that scene, a boy
so she said, do there's lots injury they go in and they just gonna talk to her and she saw your eminence, like scary, deep man, devil voice and it kind of thought Lake like if horrors all about like anticipation entering being revealed, I value is getting to see the thing. I was the thing that guy goes bump into night have clearly
and then just like the things that, like I, had a lot of moments with her there's only scenes or something
go into the room and shall be kind of like weaken quiet, and then someone gets too close to our, whether it's like a psychiatrist or priest or whatever, and she just goes into devil mode, and she says incredibly propane things. Stick your cock up! Our asked you fucking, worthless, shock therapy, siren ah, as both lake afraid and was like that is whole areas thickets
age, an insane thing to do in a movie. You know I mean shore, oh you especially for, and I believe, Linda Blair. At the time of this make
his movie, I believe, is like thirteen years old. She shy she's like
truly a child, and there is a great did that, and I am
No sorry, I'm not remembering the podcast that I listened do about. The making of
movie, but like freakin talk to like it
trying to find someone to play this part yeah, but it
wasn't right and he met,
Linda Blair and her mother, and
sat in a room with them and was talking to the mother primarily and then
Linda Blair, just started speaking
her own behalf and telling
about how she read the book that it was based on any that way. You
the book and she's. Maybe I read the book and then
started asking her if she understood, because I think at that time she was like twelve years old or something
did you understand and she should such an understanding and a maturity for what the content of the book was that he was like she can do this she's so good at like she's, so good. I think it's really like a vault like there's special effects feel like a drowned, donate or whatever, but just she's really good and
kid actors aren't and where particularly, I would imagine in horror movie like she just so convincingly possess. Yes, not I dont know how you get that kind of performance zone and like definitely they dub over the voice within
women's voice who well, and it is not what it is that they actually they had a woman actress in the way that they got that if she would like drink, bourbon and smoke cigarettes before she read her lines and
just reading about the movie. That's just like one of the ways that the production seemed really extreme, like William Freakin, the director ceilings, Canada lunatic. He is yes in what way. Well,
Let me count the ways he in order to get like legitimately scary reactions from the from the actors: key wood fire, a gun when they were supposed to jump, the guy who plays who plays at his father, dire whose their personal delivers the last rites when further cares, falls out the window,
he's an actual priest and he kept trying to deliver the last rites and wasn't doing a good job, and so we are freakin got up in his face things like listen. Do you trust me? I'm a guy said yes, and then he slapped him ass hard ass. He could,
cross the face, and he said really it any was like tat. Did you seem
where shaking in that seemed like that's, because I was actually freak. The fuck out. Can someone just slap me in the face of terrible person?
he's out offers, very though, like that's like that's very old school old Hollywood, director kind of stuff. You know like Hitchcock, used to do stuff like that to act.
And actors is like that in order to make them scared, he would, or there is a famous they like to
actors who hated each other and he in I think it's the thirty nine steps in it for part of the movie, their handcuffed to each other and dirt.
In the entirety of the shoot? He would tell everybody: don't let them out of the handcuffs
because I want them to annoy each other and be me:
you're a ball when were shooting, don't let them free, so so Peter
are there any parts where you are like? I absolutely cannot go on like this has to act like I have to stop watching this. No, no! No, the parts that were the most scary were there's a scene that were to scenes. They were all scenes that happened in there
Bedroom. Nowhere when the players care or radiant Reagan's like locked up the other thing I would like the other thing I should say is he decided that when she was possessed, you had to be able to see everybody's breath in the room so what he did ass? He got this gigantic
restaurant air conditioner and he would leave it on overnight, so they were all freezing the whole time. They were so that no special of act. Now, let's, I thought that
living wouldn't have existed at the time, and I loved that I loved that debt that that there were practical elements like that that we're like that gave youths real made. The EU unsettled, whose sole
airline and it didn't even there was only a logic to illegal wise, the devil called into just freaky and weird and freaky like it felt like a nightmare detail. Okay, so the one scene where she attacks, who is it that she had she staff
somebody with a cross. Oh, she stands lads herself in the vagina, with the and then tries to force her mother to put her face in her bloody stabbed vagina, correct
that freed me out and when you say it scared. You was a just like gross and hard to watch, or was it like? What kind of fear we talk in here.
I was yelling. I was yelping
telling what we do it. Let your mom come on. I was wearing her on it
Cheering her. I'm is like a mix of fear and shock allies
I actually, I usually recorded myself watching the scene movie display of where you ass, a ban.
The basque and then there's the days of their homes?
and then this is right.
I have to admit, like
I'm a little jealous like you get into a movie, all our emotions. It's like a fool by fear
it is vital that we all share.
Guide. Yellow Eldred at heart is something better.
If the US exactly leg
violators Bell? A going up, a roller coaster when you don't like rollercoaster, is yes
when done well like this movie, it feels like you keep thinking. Oh I can I were about.
Crest and we're gonna go down, and instead you keep climbing. You know.
And that's what I really love about. Like this era of alike, Hollywood- big-
scary movies, are really psychologically unsettling. The others that I would put in this category are rosemary baby and the old men all
movies that are about to parents and children. You know and giving birth to
either the Anti Christ or a devil or any of those things. Those are all movies in which parents have to confront the fact that their
child is some sort of threat to them.
To others and its it. So it's so insidious because it's not like oh no,
Freddy Krueger comes into my dreams and kills me when I'm asleep, which is great fun, and I
love nightmare and ELM street, but like these, that the omen
so much more unsettling, because it's like what, if the only answer to all of these problems was
have to kill your own giant right. Jesus
ok, Pga, now,
as the time to ask you on a scale of one to ten. How scary was his movie.
Now, I would say, sit sex now as opposed to win. Why I feel like as soon as it's over it's colleague pain. Will you kind of can't remember pain when its efforts have unlike icy six now, but actually to listen to the audio of myself and my those every leg of seven and a half? Ok, so, ok, ok, seventeen
have I don't it's gonna linger in a bad way how on a scale of one to ten? How much did you like the movie.
Like what does it mean that, like a horror movie,
did you enjoy the experience of watching it now now, not at all interesting
I enjoyed the reports that I enjoyed it?
Kindred having finished it like
away words like oh, like after it like bleak, like going on a run like you, don't really like
but, like afterwards fuels gonna good on the scale of the norm.
Movie that I would voluntarily choose to watch leg if it was on Netflix I popped up. I would say
I enjoyed at a two out of ten on the scale of horror movies, which I don't know they just like. I hate hours ago, six and a half
and I don't think I've ever saving above that I, the other thing that I did like.
Though actually like? Maybe this gives it a point
is arm. I was like I was I was having like
do you know you have a day where you just like it too many graphs. Can you elaborate,
they're like fruit for covert and yet what, without the corn work? What were the idea for the club? Current events graphs here yet
we're having one of those days- and I was like- I don't know how to get my brain off of this and for that two hours lake. It really held my attention in a way that I think
just like a movie that highlights probably wouldn't have ha. Ok brain was like there's someone who could kill you
Did I moved the needle at all on you enjoying were like? Did I did? Did you watch like? Why have you can't you can't have the Alex? You can't have done that
in one episode, you definitely didn't do it. We have that the question for the end of the series yeah now
need already whereby ill at ease, still I mean cuban might pga- is still reacting in a way. That is true,
to mitigate the results of horror, movies. He's watching
in the day he's watching with people on the phone he stopping in starting my keys still like like a little boy and
into his fingers, not willing to commit he's a commitment for so long
p j of that region.
my challenge to you in doing this, PJ's would be to take
away those training wheels,
these movies at night,
Alone and record yourself now has that's, I think. What's that's that's how these podcast is gonna work, so the thing I could do PETE
it a clue closed this out. I think the whole no there's one more question for Jason. What scared? What scares the shit at EU here's here
Actually here is a list of movies I have never seen, nor will I see no contagion pandemic outbreak. My
fear centre lies in germs and health and all that stuff. So this guy
Areas thing to me is what is can
and in those I would never watched contagion you know or
Any of these pandemic end.
The any show or movie that shows
sometime. This is the true years ago.
It came out not related unrelated to what's going on right now
because what's going on right now,
to me the equivalent,
of somebody who is like. I know I've watched funny
a bunch of times, but now I'm getting home invaded the thought.
You know like that,
right now we are experiencing my worst fear nightmare, which is pandemic. Do you think that
Do you have this thing credible and unmitigated fear, because I know this may be.
Listen, there's! No it! Maybe they don't that you have like severe allergy, two eggs where, if you eat them, you will basically die. I think that's probably
I think, from a very very young age. I had such an understanding of my own mortality and the fact that it was so easily pierced. You know, I think most kids girl
feeling invulnerable, an invincible and that simple things can't kill them and I think for me it was all
he's drilled into my head, that not only can simple things kill you the most ordinary of things cookies, that your friends house, anything is means you're dead done.
Our ip. So for me, health and the catastrophic something catastrophic,
following me, health wise was always
scarier than a guy in the woods with a knife. You know I mean, like that's like me,
it's really scary to me is a plate of cookies. That looks the list.
That I don't know who begged that's rough
So then am I supposed to like to make it back to me like that.
Egypt is all about page. Did I mean that there is a category
What movies does appreciate horror movies mean that there can still be a kind of horror movie them like it's not for me or June I mean yes,
totally totally I like these movies that I'm talking about, like I love the exorcist
rosemary baby, again, remember you
watching a movie Peter you just watching a movie
you know the same way you watch comedies and dramas. If you dont, like every
a comedy. You know I
I gave you the ones you like the ones you like yeah, but it doesn't. If I don't like a drop our comedy, it's not it's not because
convincing, my brain that I'm about to die. What makes use what makes you so import
that you, the movie, is go was made to kill you Yassir now, don't try to shame into what it can also PDA go into it. If you go into a view
if you can somehow shed yourself of this anticipation, that it's going to be all out terror, you're gonna, enjoy it more because it really is it like most movies are, if you ever, if I think I think as difficult task as it will be, tear off all your fuckin roles, I don't expect arrived. I dont really expect at the end of this to lake horror, but I wouldn't try to solve the problem of my apprehensive anxious disposition, because I think it's a boy,
if the enters like learned to be the moment, I think we're fucked. What I think is good about starting here is, I think it's like putting the lobster in
In warm water, and now you can really start turning the heat up like this is a safe
wait a start, because it's a great movie, and yes, it's scary by its, I suspect it didn't like shatter you now, I'm gonna sleep. Fine tonight, I think, probably rank ok, just a pervert,

after the break we'll talk about what we're watching next. Ok be days, just you and me
now the first of all. Congratulations on surrounding the exorcist! Thank him! What's next,
your next movie, is the nineteen eighty, four supernatural, slasher
Nightmare NOME, street shit
Why are you saying shit what it? What is it about
in particular. That makes you feel like. Oh no, what have I done? I've just been very watch. The exorcist I've been
scared of nightmare on ELM Street, the idea of that like I've, I had nightmares about Frederick her as a kid without seeing them. You know I mean there is like this I'll. Send you to do this.
I'm sure they so do I, but they have these like every how we never hoeing, absurd and odd times its parities of horror movies and the way was exposed. Alot of horror movies with through Simpsons parities, and I found those episodes
kind of unbearably scary and the fragrant episode at the time I found it so frightening, the one with the with Willie as Freddy Krueger yeah yeah, they always lose the shining with a high at the shinning at an ever devastated shining is: do you wanna, get sued
Sometimes I like, I think, I'm gonna weird way. What I'm learning already is that I'm scared? It's not that scary movies scare me that I'm scared of being scared by scary movies, which is like another layer I think of of the movie,
I most scared of being scared of are actually like eighties movies, because those where the movies that we're Roma as a kid that agency huh what one other thing. So so they were now street, like by the time that we became out like.
Jason Voorhees was already a thing? Is the high Michael Myers was our yes Michael Myers was already

So the hair so body yet her, but but like the thing that I
think resonate so much with people or resonated with me about the about Freddy, who I find infinite
scarier than the other ones is that he only gets you when you are absolutely at your most vulnerable when you're so ages. When you are so

That movie was like such a crazy phenomenon that the that the production company that made it Newland cinema- they were like they ve, been around since, like the late sixties, in their illegal languishing as a company they'd, never bad like a hip movie or anything, and the only reason that that that studios exists today is because of the neighboring elstree. That's like how big a success
