Hey guys, so often episodes of Dais are about me speaking through things that I'm thinking about or working on. This week I'm changing it up and answering a question from a listener. I got a note asking about the idea of motivation and change and how this applies to non-business people. Listen in on my thoughts about what success looks like to a stay at home mom, college student, and basically anyone who isn't in business. One of the cruellest things that I get to see as part of my job is the manifestation of the product or products that I dreamed up and created and figured out how to do like. So many of you as a business owner, you get these ideas in your head and it is incredible to get to watch them come to fruition and I started dreaming about one of our most popular products. The start today journal. I served dreaming about this a couple of years ago. I had been doing this daily practice based on several different people. I had heard about several different things in a kind of put them together into one daily practice, which was every single day. I wrote down the dreams I had for my life, but I wrote them as if they had already happened. There's something really powerful about claiming a goal as if it's already done, and I wrote down every day- and it was how I set my intentions and then I would post about it on social, and so many people are like what are you doing? What is that? Where do I get that journal and I was like eyes: it's not a journal, it's just a notebook, I'm just riding down the same thing every single day, but what I think is interesting, as business owners or creators is often times. In fact, most of the time your audience will tell you what it wants from you and I kept pushing it off because I was like you guys. This is not a big deal, but it was, and people kept asking for, and I finally just thought what if I turn this into a product and I started to dream and plan- and I literally taped pictures to the wall of my office, of what I dreamed that my journal would look like in the intention behind it, and I wanted the covers to be really pretty, and I wanted it to be something that you could do once a quarter and then, as you complete at each journal. You'd have a stack of this evidence of how intentional you were about your life and we ve heard it out, and I mean you know some times we messed up on the shipping and sometimes we rest up on the interior, but we failed our way to where we are today, which is the start today journal in the hands of hundreds of thousands of people. So incredible such a blessing for me to be able to go on Instagram and see hashtag start today journal and see people all over the world using this practice as a way to
aim in the direction of their dreams. So if you are not familiar, and you want to check it out, you can go over to the Hollis code. Dot com forward, slash shop and find out all about my favorite practice turned my favorite product and, if you're not in the market, to buy remember that episode. Seventy two of this podcast gives you the exact step by step so that you can do it in whatever note book you have laying around for free you not to buy a product, but you should be doing this daily practice. It will literally literally change your life. True growth requires
age and change required
the motivation to get yourself there. Welcome to the day s podcast mining,
Rachel Hollis and I've built a multi million dollar media company with a high school diploma and a Google search bar each week will share directed,
tangible advice or inspiring interviews with the same intention. These are the tools to change your life.
So often episodes of days are based around the idea of me speaking through things
currently talking about or working on or writing on, and I hope that they offer you wisdom and insight, but this
week, I'm actually going to do something a little bit different,
got a note from a reader, and I was so surprised
by the no. It was something that honestly had never even occurred to me before, and it made
worry that she might
be the only one who has this question
which was if I
talk so often about being motivated and changing your life and making good choices. How does that apply to people who are in prison?
what is that look like for say how moms? What does that look like two girls in college? What is that look like for people who don't
some day want big grandiose things for their life. I'm
singing to read you a little bit of what she said. I feel
like a lot of what you talk about is aimed at business, women, and I am struggling, and I know others are too with how
to tie it all into my life. I'm not an entrepreneur, no side hustle and I'm fine with I dont want it, your private
jack dream, no judgment, I get what you want one, but I just can't relate
it's not me or my life. I feel
like I have no big, overarching dream or passion to tie into all of these things. How
How do the idea of motivation or change relate to non famous non business owners will first of
all Amanda. Thank you. So much for thinking that I'm famous
thought only my minimise believe that was true, but also surprised.
Is by this question you guys, because honestly.
It would never occurred to me that these goals and desires for growth and change as a woman would it apply to pee.
For who were in business. I mean I was so surprised by her answer that I wanted to make uninstall
you're podcast dedicated to the idea. I think
really important that everyone understand my intention when I talk about wanting to be a better version of you. That looks like different things for different people
I think the idea of motivation. The idea of change is
aimed at just becoming a better version. Then you were yes
your day. So
for me that might look like wanting to be Oprah and wanting to own my own
plain cause that sounds fun and wanting a vacation Hauser, these big things, but cash that doesn't
have to be what your version of success looks like, and I guess you have to start there, you
to start with clarity. What is it
that you want out of life and the best process. I can give you for how to get that answer. If you dont, have clarity is
close, your eyes and imagine the best
version of yourself, if in
five years or ten years you are there.
Dream version of yourself. What does that look like? What does that feel like
closer you wearing White House. Do you
live in? What are your relationships like what you eat? What do you drink? Where do you vacation? The more specific you can be the brighter the picture you can show yourself. The more direction you have here guys will be back in a hot minute with more of this interview, but now a quick word from a sponsor
Each chapter of girl, wash your face, begins with a specific lie. I used to believe that left me
killing overwhelmed, unworthy or ready to give up as a working mother
warmer foster, parent and a woman who has dealt with the insecurities about my body and relationship. I try and speak with the
site and kindness that would come from a best friend. I want.
Help. You unpack the limiting mindsets that destroy your self confidence and keep you from moving forward. My book
girl wash your face, is available,
everywhere books are sold and the audible version is narrated by me. I hope you'll check it out.

This, through the seventh check out all the details at the Hollis code, dot com- if you have been looking for a nudge, if you have been looking for something to kick start change, I promise this. Is the thing
The question I get asked most often is about work. Life balance in particular,
How do I manage my time as a working man? That's a whole mega beast right
digital school schedules and plead eighth and meetings and projects and getting it.
Worked out and a date night and and it's no joke. Luckily I
on the awesome, cozy and cozy,
everyone schedules and events in one place. No more miss pick up.
Or double bookings cosy either
Does the job of reminding others in my family about events and appointment so Dave's on it. My nannies on it everybody's in one place, cosy
and emails every morning with the day's agenda.
On device, reminders and alerts to make sure I don't forget the bay.
Sparred. It's free, get cosy
c, o the eye from your appstore or cause. You don't come forward. Slash and Rachel.
Hey I'll, do me a favor wire listening to today's episode, take a screen, shot and put it on Instagram or your instance stories and tag me. I love hearing what you think and seeing what you're up to and it helps the tribe, remember
to listen to this week's episode, thanks so much
so when I talk about being motivated, I don't want you to be motivated toward my goals. I want you to be motivated toward that future.
Version of yourself, because here's the thing we sort of
in the abstract. Think like oh, I want to be
mom, I want to be a good wife. I wanna be I. Whenever
Wait relationship with my parents, I wanna be a really good friend. I want to be a contributing member to society and want to leave a legacy of service in my community, whatever your version of of the best
But if you don't name those things, you don't call your shot like Babe Ruth. If you dont decide that that's where you're going and
give yourself plans to get there will there's a good
chance it you're, just gonna, float around and not really make any change. So when I talk about
I want you to motivate yourself to be the
S version of you and that does
motivation and that does take direction, and that does take a plan. I truly believe that you are not going to get anywhere new,
not going to change it in any great way. If you dont have intention to do that, we need
and because of two things right, so you change because something happens to you and life. Good or bad life
comes along and disturbs the regularly scheduled programming- and it throws you off your game, but in doing so it soon
helps you build new muscles new ways to flex and grow so that you can live into this new version of who you are so that's one way
that would change
other way that we change is that we.
Actively make a choice to become something new in. I,
is never easy. It doesn't come without pain
Sometimes it doesn't come without addressed.
Reshaping of who you are, but
never going to be the person that you wanna be if you dont reach for it?
So if you're like amanda- and if you hear me talk about being motivated or having energy or enthusiasm or choosing joy or choosing gratitude or all of those things that are constantly talking about on social media, and you wonder how that applies to you. I've won
sure to come up with an answer today. What does your version of success look like? Is it
healthier relationship. Is it more time for yourself? Is it taking
a great luxury vacation every year, is it leaving a legacy for your children's? There are so many options to choose from, but my point is that if you
don't choose some kind of direction.
Gonna be the same version of yourself again next year and the year after that and the year after that, true growth require
change and change required
the motivation to get yourself there.
