What rethinking your head? I was extremely stress I won't like yesterday. I once unprepared bags. Under my eyes I'm working nineteen, our sometimes get like have our sleep, my my employer, these are overworked. Work I'm over I'm shaking them speaking not because I'm nervous legged shaken I'm tired, I'm very tired, you not on the cashier for five minutes on stocking meat for five minutes on doing everything in
our border time. There was a few shoplifters, I swear to God. I even have time for the muslim item on the shoulder habit. They enjoy over the ceiling for self or life. You know we don't deliver on Sunday ever right. I was like I told him. I was like love you if you have any common sense as a businessman and if you have a heart, you get your ass up this morning, all right and you deliver food all right, because people
up on me this morning, at seven o clock in the morning. He's ok, I'm funny story and he had a full truck. So you didn't just conserve me was that is a really big company, but each rout owner is independent. You know, so that's that's where I want to come from, like this guy got up and left his family to to do something like that something I appreciated when you said that you saw this line and you and nerve racking your panicked. What was the worst sphere, that was
Greer had like what what were you specifically pact that people wouldn't do what I was the deep breaths. You know that people are fighting each other and that we would have to handle that, where the support that we should have you know from our government. In that scenario, what am I supposed to do, but my own life danger, when my geyser over toilet paper assembly toilet paper, something you know like if, hypothetically speaking, we are the only businesses will we have police officers standing outside supporting us where we have you, no fire department, people just sticking around linked more bodies around. Is there going to be a national guard? You know that
This does happen. These are all worst case scenarios, but these are the only things I would think about you not moving forward everything that we dealt with this like the provision, my own personal issues, all these things are more right right, but if it caused a few steps, further? What do we do? Do you know. It states is starting to shut down, as millions of Americans are working from home help. Thousands of poles have closed. Millions of Americans are working from home when you avoid public place. There's you hurt sales at restaurants, retailers malls freely about. We talk to every move drivers. This dream a seven percent drop off from their sales. From the last few weeks,

Handsome ties are on your cup holder and you're wearing a mask right. Seventy five year, for I have the ability of crony bronchitis. So there are two very bad conditions or the right, I have to protect myself and I have to protect you. I think that it should be mandatory for every taxi driver to have a mosque because would pick up around thirty to thirty five people away. Only one person with a virus can montages about qualified people,

It can be seen that made money is the factory and I'm so happy that don't doing this
because from forty seven years living in New York I discover- and six was more more than I did for seven years. But did you discover many places in Brooklyn that I didn't know much about brought many places, beautiful God beautiful. Buildings all over this see that I never expect that there was going to be here that I was to be able to see something like this, and now I see everything. Now I had the opportunity to see everything. Can you tell me how
how business is doing for your vote. Israel, usually when they work in the morning. I rice many islands with the kids who schools at night when I was sorry the sun Sandyseal, I'm frightened eyes. Usually I pick up between thirty five forty five people yes went out the work begun on the whole day, eleven people so is really slow and on this is a everywhere given that you have so many risk of getting the virus wire is still working the to tell you the truth, because there are men in United States, although that is not enough to buy food, so I have to work if you stopped working. What would happen.

my adult life, I thought of the New York Times as a giant news machine that spit out news stories all day, long kind of like a vending machine, and embarrassed to say that it wasn't really until I came to work here at the times that I started to think about the reporters behind those news stories and what it takes to get the story in the first place. Sometimes, reporters risked their lives. Sometimes they talk to Two in the morning, sometimes they call us from a war zone and nodded do they tell us what's happening on the ground wherever they are, but they also give us the context that we need to understand it. If you like, hearing from these orders every day, which I know I do the work. I think that you can do to support them and the daily is to subscribe to the New York Times if you'd like to do that, go to and why times dot com. Slash subscribe.
I live in New York City going dark. All bars across the city of New York will be closed. Many restaurants are now limited. Take out delivery services. Thousands of employees in New York City night spots about to be out of or bigoted. We do this open sooner. If we leave open and nobody gets really sick and everything is closed for most ok, it is March sixteenth and since then I ve met. When are we going over to see LUCA Di Pietro he's a restaurant honour on five restaurants here Manhattan. Sometimes but the shutdown nuts I'm here now.

Ok, he's asked me to not be there as he's talking to staff so that our citizens having right now, I can hear them The attack to him after so do you mind telling me what you just spoke to staff. This is what I guess. Maybe nine people listen to you. No, I mean what I told them unless here, because I was just telling them that I have to We have to close and that time, I'm really sorry that I can keep it open
damn. You know I'm pushing may hard to to get this delivery business up and running so that thanking hopefully need how then get them back in and help I with packaging food and non may be taken orders delivering only forget busy. I will love for for us to get busy so that it can bring people making us so basin. The staffing is here tonight. You ve got three cooks thing out in the backyard busboy server manager and the bartender yeah, so in this, some of these people here tonight. How many of them don't have a place right now No none of them. There's no money and I'll do some money to pay salaries. I don't know this guy's a great, so the people that work here amazing and a good group of people, everybody understands and you know, everybody's shots
it's a national crisis, but you know we don't see national, we see what is in front of us and and it's tough, it's very tough and people are going to no be suffering, and I don't know what this you know: how much money is gonna be available for people lose their jobs and now nothing like this ever happened. So I don't know what is in place. I just know that pains me greatly to lead. Let people tat song is, but I know it is not me. That's that's how I feel
I think it amused used to remind took the main strength, and possibly sometimes you strength is not enough. Luke attacking those hadn't. How was I mean? We knew that it was coming, but I would say all happened so fast, so I didn't really have time to prepare for that. Most of us are working on not pay check your paycheck. I have a little daughter and wife We got mad this location. We got married right here. That's why it's it's! It is hard to see this place, shutting down
My name is our common shit. I've been working for the company since two thousand twelve, some of its eight years now my wife also works in the business she worse in a different restaurants sought today there are officially closed. Basically fired everyone, so, yes, all the thing is of our work in the same business, we're not going to be making money, for God knows how long we have to pay. We have a child to take care of. We have insurance. They were a little savings probably gonna last for a month. Maybe Okay! Thank you, everybody for the time. Thank you so much
this is Andy Mills. It is Monday, night and of the bars in New York City have been told that they have to close at eight p m. I have come here to Sonny's bar in red hook: Brooklyn my favorite bar, maybe in the entire world it is at the edge of Brooklyn right on the waterway. You can see the statue of liberty off of the distance number to spend last minutes of being able to be at a bar in New York City with whoever's inside. Let me just tell me your name: What year, what you're doing here night? My name is Heinrich
so I was actually going gonna like IKEA to get like some stuff, even though I'm not like you now try to be like smart about it like knock outside rousing. Are you now? I just want some stuff for my key. I get there and you know I get too. I hear this dude comes out, he's like it's close, it's all like they shouted down its close now. So what do you mean? It's like five pm like men, and he was like now it's closed so as a k wow. This really happening like IKEA, got shot down says I give us like our. I might as well just like go to Sonny's. You know. Do this love this bar whereat right now, just like my favorite bar, so.
This is your close they're closing down to neither like eight, I believe so dislike my last chance like get I'll be free before I'm gonna be inside for, like I, don't know how long I guess now just go home like we start up on food, so I think we're gonna be good for a while. Yet for just one last round before the closer we realized, we were in the neighbourhood of the really goes unease is probably so openly with the last half hour. We got it, we gotta do something. We look at the clock. Really, oh my god. There's a half hour left you gotta get the last year we had last year and care of this again very last stream for the next four to eight weeks, if not more like a house of his son is green or I'm gonna break keep dream
home. Let me ask you this: what are you gonna, miss from being able in a bar was the difference of cautious bumping into a friend or made a new person in sea like in the closet, bartender everyone that a bar has offering an ogre outside of your house, which is good if you live in a tiny like shoe box apartment that a lot of us do you have a little glass align just like a smaller and smaller but, let me the horseman good, is doubly your name where right now. My name is tuna. Yawns, none, Sunday spark, and what do you do here? It's his bar!
well. I run this fine establishments. I should say on this final establishment: do you own it and your run? It I'd run a well. Thank you. How are you feeling? What are you thinking right now? Well, I've been through a crisis or two before, and there is one thing to fight. You know the new boogeyman, which is this virus another to cope with the fear that it is still in all of us and what I try to concentrate on is how to Colonel take care of your emotional helped, because they fear is the alarm clock that makes us up into action. But if we keep that alarm clock ringing in we'll just brought drivers crazy man and we can take care of business, this will pass believe it or not. It will pass it's
There's a note on the region and there's a norwegian proverb that I love that goes like this: either it will go well or it will pass, and those are two good options and we will get through this and especially new Yorkers we will get through is because we are already bunch. You know we just buckle down and get through stuff. I guess it closes place down her. I think we're about fifteen minutes in which I will enjoy my little glass of wine cheers right. Here's a couple minutes after eight, the music
and turned off the patrons Heaven has to go home, and it's just me and the bartender and the speaking in our region to her norwegian friends who are now putting on their coats now tuna. Now that the buyers closed and indeed carry you feeling about the financial aspect of being closed for a week two weeks, three weeks a month, maybe two months, I do have to say that the finances right now are stressing me out more than the virus. It's like, I feel like we have a plan in place for how to try to prevent them.
Spread of the virus, but we need a financial plan unless my wits main worry right. Now. It's a big uncertainty when you look out at all the other businesses in New York from restaurants to taxi drivers like our common easing, the feeling that you're having is, I think it in everybody's hot. You know I mean exceeding its a place where people hustle were, I think, New Yorkers a hustler. Unless you would just born into money, you know how to hustle, otherwise you'd just pull back home again. But that being said, We also know how to get through a crisis and we ve been tested before- and this is a test will take a day by day, and you know
if you'd feel like you, are paralysed and can do something about the situation you're in no. If you can't take that first step trying to lift the foot and if you can't lift your foot tried to wiggle you'll tall one will get through it. Thank you for that and you too unthinkable stopping by, and thank you for caring.
