It's worth it so fingers crossed for the apocalypse. I am going to be performing a ton in the post, apocalyptic world I'll be performing in Bloomington, Indiana and then to coma and watch. Other cities said SF, sketchfest city, but it's in the city and the city in the name, if you- too nervous, dot, com, slash calendar! You can get information on those shows. service of of the rest podcast. The galaxy note two is it's bigger than a phone, but it's smaller than a tablet. It's sort of a sort of a hybrid, but I think The important features is the sharing capability. There's feature which means you can tap the back of another s, beam device and you can share large files in seconds in seconds it's you're transferring something with a kiss, places are making out and the result is a quick file transfer, there's an s pen which basically makes a device like a virtual notepad, but they can be used for easy, outlining crop biting cropping of items on screen. Email links not have an open them just by hovering the above them and also find a match images to written key so again, screen five. One slash two inches perfectly shaped for sixteen by nine aspect. So for widescreen movies or television shows we do those in wide screen too. So
That's a galaxy note two from cell phone. Thank you so much to those guys for being a sponsor. This podcast, which is Tom Kenny we had Tom on early in the run of the podcast on one of our live, shows a Largo, the front wheel, Thomas I mean Alien played played some Spongebob songs, and there is a Spongebob Christmas, album out right now, not for Christmas, I'm assuming if you have prompt, podcast listening habits but even if it's not Christmas anymore, you should get the album and we're going to play one of the songs at the end of it from the album. So stick around for that and Tom. I just Tom is such a freaking cool guy? You know his comic and does a crap tone of voice over Of course is a sponge bob and I, I I love talking to him is super smart. Is such cool kids
cool kids and his wife? Also super cool, Joe Cali? Doesn't sound of voice over work? So it's really Keene family, that you want to kind of hang out with and talk to interesting folk that So here they are ninety nine? What time Kenny Now entering nowenteringnerdist dot com, Kenny back on the podcast after I like a year and a half app I think we were trying to figure out when that show was The early days, the Fred Willard Tom Kenny, showed that show at Largo. Wasn't Largo was it the first year that was then within
zero is, I think, is in the within the first few months like for five months. No, it would have been like July or August. It was right around Comicon time. I remember so as yet you're so you're right it was. There was enough within the first like five or six months of the yeah? Well, you have way more memory cells than I do. Remember that I did it and it was a Largo and I was proud of that. Yeah yeah yeah things like Bob thongs, two things one, but I don't remember that yeah Andy Paley, Andy Paley yeah. It's all coming back to me now very well Fred was pitching Fred was talking about his movie trivia books, movie, trivia book, yeah, yeah right. As we almost have a brain going and then you're supposed to be on the podcast, we're going to record you. Well, there was a there was a mishap where you were the podcast, but we didn't know. Yes, the wires were the wrong my heels in the lobby, you're shooting a g for yeah. I show over the last. You know, and I just thought you guys were running behind the security guy.
I was starting to look suspicious at me like. What's this doing this guy's up to no good off button, I've always wanted to use the card it sort of worked. I use it for burps family, you do. I get gassy cross out. The word cough on the button inputs part. Yes, someone ever feels like if you ever feel like you're in a situation where someone is suspicious of you. Do you just ring, Spongebob and then they're like oh, would even make them more suspicious. Now he's a suspicious guy doing crappy cartoon impression. No, you don't understand. I made that voice up on the real guy, I'm a god! Stop it what you've never had to use that to get out of a scrape. I've never used it to get out of its great. I died once I got pulled over for a ticket, and I happen to have some eight by ten that I was bringing somewhere on the front seat and the guy saw him and It's got me out of one ticket wow and it's the only time but you have to give one of 'em useful. Yes yeah. Yes,
he he gave me his address, gave me his kids names and said Don't come to my house, I know where you live and then turns in the Cape cod here lately it was very yeah any any. We have the cliche, like mirrored sunglasses on yeah yourself, being scared, yeah, yeah yeah. I can get a nice of nice view of myself crap in my pants I mean These are scary when you haven't done anything wrong all right on something a little bit wrong. Like you know, maybe you know cruise through stop sign like or whatever I did it's absolutely. I don't know why I get so scared when I see cops around. I just said when freeze, why do why, when I'm in traffic in a cop pulls up alongside me. Why do I turn my radio down yeah yeah, I yeah like I'm windows that are, I think, they're tinted too much. If they,
I find out. I listen to Huey Lewis NEWS trying to find some Eddie money. He used to be a cop. You know that this will buy me some brownie points or give you two tickets to Paradise. Yeah. Thank you. So you can have your going to get a ticket first, music being too loud. If you could from a two car lengths away. That's I don't listen to music super loud, so it's like, but it doesn't matter what the vitamins I was turn it down a little bit more yeah. What if somebody is listening to this podcast and can be heard like two car lengths away, then sorry I just want to make it rumbled Barnes, just Chris Hardwick's voice, just vibrating over like every vehicle in the broad. That would be irritating wait what right now, so when is the podcast start? Like? Do you guys, probably like in a couple of months? I don't know you know man
Just like we just sort of feel it out man, and then we just let it happen because I've been doing like endless morning, zoo radio tours. So this just feels like atonic, well. I I have united the lights, even you can, which I know it's not like a nice atmosphere in here. It's well mix, work and so on. I know I should a million you know just going back on the road. Then again, I've been doing back in the the beast saying ability to be a morning show beast to in morning shows morning news shows morning: radio show yeah yeah, you know you're just sort of unceremoniously dropped into a pre, existing social dynamic that you're not aware of, and and really you're just prior to some to kill a few men. That's it till They get to the weather guy or whatever the rodeo, that's in town or yeah. You know the person is broadcasting from the you know to for tots so remember that one time we were doing we're doing a pilot for e and like there was like the technical producer guy, who would be
it's like all right, we coming from commercial. We have this piece of information, but the body have a joke. Are you going to this, and it was like for him like the jokes, which were the things we were trying to concentrate on was like the least amount of his problems yeah, I I don't even think it was make a joke. I think it was like Bob up live, be funny something get your battle on to the naked eye a bit and then yeah it actually happening. We've been doing some of that for this Christmas thing. You know like we just did like a station here in town like one of these channels. Quite a news show, but they had to talk about the news yeah right and we have a funny band in the studio. That's going to do something like that. It's it's couched news. It's like we're doing the news for on a couch yeah. Yes, the publicist calls it a day, Dodo NEWS who because, if you don't like it that it, but what what's the formula? So it's it's Dodo news. They have been because you know that it's no news is I mean it's news all about the extinct dodo exactly and what it would take to bring back this long extinct, bird, exactly it's do do Dodo, do do
He thought I knew this was very conceptual from you know. The theme song of that new show is dad dad who do too. That I hate this new show. I don't know, there's no structure well. This particular week was obviously pretty ram and there you know so they're in there, covering all that topical stuff in in in you know it. Murder, murder, murder, murder, murder, mental illness, sponge Bob in the high seas. That you know that was like a run down of that content. So that's always a little weird. You know, but you're right yeah, but is that let's tragedy lots the sickness, yeah lots of poverty of illness. This A season would be complete without a visit from all spot. Well, yeah these guys it is so fun, and that is what we're having so much, but if we make the kids having a second ago, we were having fun yeah that that's
and then they had to walk around. You know, sponge Bob Theme Park yeah on the set to lending another level of wacky. To do this. Murder, murder, murder, funny cartoon band thanks. So it's kind of weird know: you go. It's kind of the elephant in the room. It's just should I acknowledge that, or is that just a I'm not or that make it even weirder. I think that yeah, you know to be a part of you, especially that x comedian, part of me, yeah, once. To be totally honest and alluded to
Well, of course, where'd you guys aren't talking about it, but it's really weird so from what you just came. So you want me to sing this song yeah after all of that horribly, a song. What's the two hundred and thirty four yeah worst salmon? Won't let you do this in one Christmas track like two years ago yeah, we did a don't, be a jerk. It's Christmas, yes started out as just kind of being uh something that we made for some of the suits and some of the people that work on the show a pale, and I just made it hoping it would maybe be a calling card for a special album or something you know kind of build it and they will come yeah and that's always were for us in the past and yeah took it took the swallows a while to come back to Capistrano, but but we You know we made The song and then eventually they asked us to do the like a whole record of Sponge Bob Holiday songs, and then the song don't be it's Christmas,
two thousand and nine became the basis of the story of the current. Spongebob animated Special, which is is airing now you know Christmas eyeglasses on the 23rd of much time is on the 24th of March of dimes and nickels. The kind of just stripping it it's pretty cool. It's all stop motion. Oh wow old school. This guy look gorgeous yeah Rankin Bass. Looking into what company did was it Dinos company or no? It's a screen, novel tees right here, in LOS Angeles, who are amazing, and I did you- don't have any sparkling hey Harry Shearer, just walked in the room. No getting Kyle just brought
their time can implant about as water a coffee, and I I thought you could be more honest. I don't have to keep up with the the best part for the holiday season is what to do with the family he's not listening when he's not on it. I tell you, I tell you about I don't have to be that I I don't have to keep up that that local news phoniness right. I got up and asked me for coffee and I see in your deal with and that we just started talking about guests, and you know something Some are more demanding than others, and if it's just I brought her here today with any malice know, know know 'cause, I'm I'm a sucker for sparkling water, Mean D, got a soda stream and it's changed my life I drink more water now than I ever have in my life wow. So, when you make your own yard Apopka screw
put normal water into the bottle and you hook it up and screwed on the thing you push down the button a few times and it's soda water with space technology. I just got here. I'm shorts talk about this everyday toms all shaken up right now, just like your soda jerk taking home a soda. I want liquid. You know you, don't the bottles, you don't you just make your own soda, it taste just like the stuff that you would buy and we got in the garage. So I can't hold oil. You know what that's missing bubbles, but let's give it some bubbles with the soda jerker Carbonation is like frying. You know that just anything taste good when you apply that as virtuous as to it bubbles in Greece yep. That was my 70s burlesque show and we believe, is with an apron. They would sing grease things together, bubbles
that's what bubbles the chimp is doing now, since Michael Jackson died yeah exactly they used to do it together, too yeah, but now he's just going around and doing his one man Chimp Greece show yeah with Elvis is chip, scatter again with opals the two biggest pop star owned ships of all time yeah, the old man is go Greece, Bananas, but then they put in like a champ, the so did. But no, but no, but no over nominal. Chris Hardwick is going back on the road, and this is just a sample sample of what you're going to say. Song parodies to be had Chris goes out there with this car. It does so many dead on spoofs of silicon,
name an animal musical anhil riff on that for hours, yeah, give me a food Anna Primate and will I need a. I need a food. You already said: chimpanzees songs called coconut lemurs primates pirates booty at howler monkey. So, what's in the chest, Watts in the chest Well, you know used to you. You know you're you're a little younger than me, but you know I I started pretty young and it was- and you know the guitar guys were always the axe that killed Oh yeah. I went out there with the guitar at the end of and then shamed in the 90s
our comedy show. Yes, I know yeah well shame to the hipster rooms, but still ruling in the elderly I'm coming back. Well, I I love a good Guitar Comic Tom will just performed a melt. All that he's different, though he's not a card. Yeah yeah he's not a guitar comic for sure the attorney does does yeah, but he's not like the song parity guy. Henry Henry Phillips is a gray area. What's the other, you know he's not the guy. I'm talking about you know, go. Is it the midnight show just dissed? growing after you've bombed, trying trying to do stuff that yeah personal and maybe you know maybe a little different than other people, and then you had to follow the guy who just destroyed the room billions when I pee now it hurts when I pee now skews me, while I kiss this guy, like that kinda stuff, actually there's a bathroom on the right, but that's and it's You know in their mind, like what am I doing, I'm not doing anything wrong people laughing once the yeah I'm bringing joy into people's lives. The fact that I'm still
thirty years later probably said, why should I let it go by now? Those are convictions. Doing ok, Kenny, let John know still bumming out. But some guy in a basement, comedy club in Boston in nineteen. Eighty three, those acid roots, run very deep. I will never forgive them here. I come is building up enough money to come back in. Might every guitars last words just like guitar company guitar, comics were shamed in the nineties. You think! Well, take a little bit, because when, when MIKE Fuhrman- and I were doing our, we did, this comedy do a hard and firm? And yes, I know when we were going back out when we were sort of going on the road and like three, oh four yeah, you know there were clubs, be real the tire guitar comedy yeah, it's not I'm gonna get you guys were a different thing, as is Tom Wilson. Play well on the road
We did not connect well with people on the road, like your standard club. Audience didn't like, because if they like songs about pie they do not like songs about of American value of pi. They did not. Songs, like songs about patriotic dinosaurs are songs, were all sort of sketches in the There was a point of view and if you understood what we were making fun of, then it worked. But if you do like it was not a high joke per minute. This is speaking of data is, you know, are very kind of elliptical man shows about things so hard. Every time I hear him do. Why does a dog eat? dead bird but will never touch a grape yeah. I just feel it has a haiku songs. There's like a haiku size are perfect because you get a melody in there. You get your point across and then you're out, and he just says a lot of times, yeah, that's it! Oh yeah barnyard, to tell me about the darkness play, doh a really angry duck called crowds. Crabs
a bully. There's a tiny little duck room nemesis flats, the flounder. I can't, are you still making new episodes of sponge Bob? Did it today? Goddamnit? Is that weird it's unbelievable, you know two of the biggest cartoons, because that enter time? Adventure time is blowing up time is one of my favorite shows up it isn't My favorite shows like of any show thank God I like I just am not just from you know. Just let you die laugh. I I've I tune in to it. I a like I, I laughed like it's legal yeah. It's really good! It's really good and yeah. It's exciting to watch something. Blow up like that. Where you just see yeah, we just see like wow. This is you see a widening, the appeal, widening out, and you see like this intense. Small fanbase, but very uh and it about it. You just see that
adding bigger yeah, including more more more people in this kind of what happened was much about at the beginning, yeah. Well, the shows that like treat their audiences with respect with, like subtle, call backs that make you just go out. I know that yeah because of because I am, I am a dedicated watcher, yeah they're kind of similar, that the creators are kind of similar personality types of those chosen in a way yeah, I mean they're they're generation apart. You know they're both Calarts guys right, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah and. You know with the pen. Pendleton Ward is, is the creator of adventure. Time is definitely of the eight video game, sure generation where he really you know, that's that's the thing that like impacted his whole life at a tender age and there's so much of that in the Yeah we're the same age, I think yeah and it's set, but it's it's set having having central characters that are sort of like that. That can
need kind of like yeah. Everything is great yeah, but at the same time, but like with risk like it's just like it's like there's lines where it was like. Well, that's dumb, like they just like there's, there's cynical on being like excited about stuff, but you know it's funny. Like you know, I try to think like. You know. Why would just one show pop in and another, doesn't you know and sometimes shows you think wow bad, this pretty good. I like this. This is funny wind up sinking without a trace and then shows that you go wow. This is. I really don't see. Let this show has going for it. You know of running for a hundred The episode now get shows of those time. Oh, no. I've done shows before right. You you were, I was like home run and then what happened? Yeah, I'm I'm happy for you, I'm happy anytime, anybody
We need to make a to make noises into a microphone you go. Wow is another where I taught microphone and didn't have to say man I still feel like that. Yeah it's going to 'cause as a stand up comic and now, like your professional, like huge voice over actor like it's like it's still, it's still you in a microphone it is the Spongebob would technically say that may help you if you were serving in the class, the class yeah yeah. I guess I should say you know you know, you know you just I have to be doing some glad I'm not working someday job that I don't like yeah, it's so refreshing even after decade not doing. I still feel like the. We could all be up. You know it's a good gig it. You know it's it's.
Oh yeah, that's good. I'm in particular work is so great, it's fun, it's usually fun and it's easy and it's close to home and yeah. It doesn't matter how you look. You don't have so many clubs, no comedy condos. No, you don't have to sell hot wings and have to sell hot wings still performing his dinner. You have to leave your kids crying in the driveway, with the fact that so it you know it's it's great I'll, be back in forty, and you have fun you get to exercise all the same muscles that you'd be back just in time is your birthday back till now, thanks and cocktail napkins for your Barbie doll can use these umbrellas. But that's the thing with doing comedy, and then you there's ways to find same feeling in other venues and yeah me. It was a case of going what. Here's what I really like about doing stand up. Here's the except that I'm not so crazy about. Is there another job that gives me? Oh
The things I like about doing stand up and maybe phase out some of the aspects that I don't, yeah, and you know for me anyway. Voiceover was the was the what else are you working on? Besides a sponge bob? Well, let's see today today we did sponge Bob and we also there's a preschool show on Disney starting in the sprinkled, huggle monsters. It's for a very listening sounds scary. That's for a preschool audience! Yeah they're, a bunch of monsters but they're they're, also very loving. They give hugs that's a scary, Giovanna singing, so it teaches children to hug monster. Is he just beat the children to hug monsters and you know which robs the monsters of their power? I guess, and let's see, I'm Doctor Octopus Ultimate Spider man, the ice king on time, I'm a brickleberry, the Daniel Tosh produced, a show on comedy central and a couple of things You play the ice skating. It's he's like such a great character. 'cause he's so
I love sad yeah. He started out, you know just kind of typical insane borleske kind of villain and they started giving him this back story used to be a nice guy in then. You know this crown. You know kind of made him Kelly dollars, range, yeah, yeah and you know now the now they're going even further into this backstory with him and Marceline. The yeah where he knew her when she was young and there was this plague that was the the world and he's taking this little. Vampire toddler under his wing and they're making their way through this. This post apocalyptic pandemic It's really got a different, unexpected directions from work started doing it, yeah where it started, and it's it's really
finding the time what what it sounds like if the asking delivering the six o'clock news, the ice skating area- hey, that's a bear of a commute there on the floor. I would say if you have ice powers, offline flowers, a just just just bypass is that I don't even know what a sig alert is, but they're not good, go home, go home what's the actors name, that's based, that's that that character that oh, why do you guys talking about you know? Well, you know like so many of my. Animated characters. You know the ice king is based on a couple of on. Sesil attempts at impressions, but that's those those were the bad boys come from, though, if you lock on hey The impression is just a shady impression, but if
Your city impression of match it up with another sucky impressions genius character that it's a whole new different like I've, never heard anything like that before. It's amazing yeah, that's the HANS conried in that you know yeah that guy from the five thousand thing is a talk dirty or whatever. You know they're there's some of him and then some various other people well matched in impression also his his partner as a as a penguin filter. The details of the after ninety and okay, okay right in the script, w e n K, Gunther Winks, sex wax. What is has Jill doing is Jill as you'll tally working on something. Yes, you do get you. There will actually and she's you know she's also on Spongebob. She plays a she voices, a plankton, the bad guys married to his computer. That's that's jail! Love, Karen, the Karen, the computer, wife. And then named after Steve, Hillenburg's, real wife, Karen.
And played by my wife Jill, so it's like total hillbilly inbreeding. That is very much like a cartoon. Key party. Weird sort of way she's doing great and she's doing great. We, you know get to perform together, much you do voice over yeah? you know you know here and there and she does it a lot. And you know we work on sponge Bob and stuff We do well when we like Jules like a. Radio commercials. If it's like a kooky couple or more often like one member of the, is really irritated. With the other half of the couple in a commercial spot for whatever Sears or doctor pepper. You know whirlpool or whatever Willoughby will very well. We auditioned together as couple those people did you have a good chemistry and, secondly, they married seven
they made it. They made a human two of them another one. Is that new? Note nine years yep pretty new at that new well, And when you think about how long humans have been on this planet, nine years is really not the blink of an eye at which time it's a why no MAC yeah MAC is fifteen and then his sister Nora is nine okay. So so okay. Let me ask you: this is a weird question was not. Born at with the justice appeared like eight years and the north just came out. Yes, it's like you know like some animals like hippos or whatever have a longer just period and go from the south side of Chicago, I mean you can see, there's a fully formed human inside pushing through like like on the prisoner when the crazy white ball, like just goes over nightmare on ELM Street yeah like like, like like she's absorbed the soul yeah like that's a nightmare on ELM street part for reference bags is getting ready
yeah, my my my my if MAC was meeting him at a screening of something at Cinefamily, the the immense amount of of old movie, trivia that at that time he was only ten or eleven yeah and yet still have his about that age. Three, the amount of like Justin, knew all this, this old, this old movie stuff. You know all the people on the walls. You know, as I learned I feed a bare outline. Cheney senior, you know is laurel and hardy, but you know when you get, Knuckleheads, like for If you end up absorbing all kinds of useless, at least we can do is pass the fruits of our misspent life on to him. I hope I hope I hope he's pushed that all aside in favor of drugs. Now he's fifteen he's pushed it all aside an now. He you know no he still he's great. He cricket kid that age is fun, because they're forming their own. Aesthetic, and so he's always turning me on the stuff that there's
fifty year old Guy, whatever hear about or or be into and and did he's very open to to me. A minor stuff. So it's like ok I'll play this case record and then let's talk about, let's talk about let's talk about fifty is it do you feel because Our generation where the generation that was not our parents. Basically, when you think of a fifty year old and R It's time they were a really like and where's your own one foot in the grave yeah, and now it's like you know the thirty eight you could be forty two, you could be filling me, yeah yeah, I mean like. I don't think so. I think I could be thirty eight. I don't think I I wouldn't even know Greg Behrendt was forty nine that blew me away. I know it's funny. I like killer. I run into I ready for drag from time to time. We were talking about this and I always thought I guess maybe.
I always feel like I'm older than guys, like you know, of that ilk because I started younger yeah. So it never to me that Greg Baron who seemed like you know one of the new kids in the San Francisco C would the same age as the image is pretty weird. I ask Greg: bear at one time like Greg, look great What what you see? It is one of these. It was a cut. It was a Cosmo conversation with great your skin looks great. What do you do and I was I wasn't really expecting a serious answer anyway. Without hesitation was like eye creams, doesn't matter what it is just you some kind of I can get a high grade got hydrate your purse or whatever it was that he said now is just like the yeah, It was great right right and I feel like using anything like that is a betrayal of my Syracuse working class roots, but any idea Bruce Springsteen gets plastic surgery and mister, you know, but all the surgery, though the plastics that like like that that stuff, that is, an extra line like I feel like I would have to have a horrible accident to be to feel. Okay with that
Yes, because it always well yeah. I would have to have like I Hank Williams, Junior, like like TED Rock climbing accident yeah, that it is like the there's nothing wrong with throwing a cream on here and there, but once you start digging around and trying to kill nerve, endings and debt and things with just talking into it, I'm buying ice cream on the way home and I'm just going to put it on at every red light shut up. You know I stopped you, Sir, this. Crazy guy who's got cream all over his eye says he Spongebob we're going to take him in Is that we're the cucumbers are going you're? Not cucumbers. Aren't So if you, if you perform my resume for you, wouldn't that be a treat if you stayed in though you probably would look like a fifty year old that we know as being like an old man, that's the thing like in, like LOS Angeles, like all the kind, the kind of work we do or the cities. You know it kind of keeps you young, I think, there's something to be said
for blundering your way into an occupation that rewards arrested, adolescence. Yes, yeah. You know that really is. A you know really does keep young. Do you know we look? Look we make a living doing you know full around. Farting around you know making rude noises figure out how the works. I was late. This is actually just my hobby, I'm a coal miner and I'm also twenty two. I was born a commoner start, so yeah there's some to be. Is there is a lot to be said, for you know I mean it's almost cliche leg, goofball sure thing in the world to say you know we get paid to play. We play for a living. That's what we do as actors I mean my parents always said, get a practical job. When I was like why I make my living in the world of make believe, it's would say that I'm a professional pretender so
maybe banking or politics something respectable, and then it just it's, some respectable really dark. Well, my father pretend He pretended he loved me my mom. I just do it for a living and we all pretend. What are you pretending about in your life? Is that Walter White speech. We all pretend Jesse this is Spongebob's, real voice as the that's me when I'm too old to do it in a but they they're too nice to fire me, the pitching it up a bit to get out sounds weird, but here is dentures. You can hear his dentures whistle the kid that does fan he's a his voice dropped a bit yes now Jerry Shade, but they fired him well, they should know that they just keep aging the character yeah
his hair is longer now aging in real time because they like the actor so much he's great yeah. He is great The elves, the the sensibility pilot was his brother. Yes, that's right, and then you know he got many step brother in the back literally it was his brother fired because his voice dropped. You know, I think he is such a long time went by between them doing that adventure, time pilot episode, that was on Youtube and everything, and then it find making it to being a card. Network series. You know the long time literally years, yeah get a multiple years yeah and you know they're like wow. He sounds different because maturity occurred. Yeah, but hey you got this little brother, Yeah sorry Jermaine, but hey Michael, you know another way to men. Marlon.
Screw it out here that I'm changing my name, but just the spelling, so it'll still sound the same, but technically be a different name, Jermaine It's not really change your last name, then change it to like Murphy or something just be jacks, Son Jackson with a u, if the Why would they when he did that? Yes, just doing a bit, he he last his last name legally to Jack Sun Sun, who did Jermaine, did yeah. I didn't know that I thought you were. I thought you were at those bits going yet explains why it got very quiet. It's not a funny thing, so I was laughing like their specialist there. Thing here: he just needs to finesse. I like I was on the road again taking the role people I'm doing songs, how many people like Jack yeah. Did you know? Do you do a change? Your name with that? Do you do a lot of rhetorical questions in your stand up, you know it's funny
that, like music, I love when people answer rhetorical questions. I tried to do that once where I had a actually I know of a joke. I don't do it anymore. I try to do that. I I try to make that work on stage. I was like this saves, like the writers room joke. That's like do I like, thing happening. No, do I get very excited about it? Yes, do I like to pose questions and answer them myself out loud? Of course I do like I've. I've tried to do that as the court doesn't don't answer that sir yeah, but there was a question I ask for me: yeah, I'm not for you. The I don't like you answering my question is: is in the picture that care hello that I, you better, you bet I did I had a guy to do it. I had with antelope for breakfast that I that cantaloupe, you bet I did did you can do without asking the question and still get the same, lame, segway juice out of it, yeah yeah yeah. I like that a gun
who is to shopping. You can go shopping is weird yeah yeah? And then you just say it's weird or you yeah. I think I think I've got it in the news. I think like look like my first year of comedy, I I just as you get in between topics. I think I said something like segways are weird: that I know that I'm like this added that away like that. First year of comedy children, there wasn't mad and showed inside right now, on my thing, anybody yeah who is notice, pregnant pauses, anybody How about pause so I was walking down the. What about an awkward pause, is a weird animal. Paws I don't even know what not like anymore,
Is it a flip phone? It's weird, probably yeah, probably that's that's primary friends that are back on the road. Tell me is the biggest change like it must be weird doing stand up again and they go yeah. Everybody is like holding stuff up and looking back in the old days of comedy, at least you know, and someone was setting up a thirty five millimeter camera and getting a dp and then running a light meter in front of your face and looking bobcat. I were talking about this. Where there's something to be. Dead for this. Thank then, I'm saying in this material that I'm doing in this bit that I'm doing that it might just be. You know and lived or might you know, might be half as scripted or not quite ready or whatever is just for the people in this room right now. At this moment, the third show on a Saturday and there's ten people in the room.
I don't want it to be seen by anybody else. I mean like it like it's not for a on Youtube and sitting at your desk yeah exactly like that. It would be the the biggest Here's thing about going back to school. For me, is that, like nothing stays in that room anymore, like everything's,. Yeah. I'm here also, you know it's. I wonder if, I wonder, if you'd be in a weird position where, if you said anything that pissed them off they'd be like the guy who place sponge, I said this. Okay, absolutely of course well yeah and you know yeah 'cause. Last me, like clubs, are I was saying: hey you committed have. You know that in the the adult show me, sponge Bob is big is if that's like a revelation. As if really popular have yeah. So we could. This place yeah. But once people come there's sort of an onus on the performer not to suck. So, if I, you know, I
okay, let's go see that guy and he doesn't have anything he doesn't have an acting all his jokes or from twenty five years ago you know spy the yeah. By the way. I look the more when I picture the variety like they they report on, like a band that is just. It is just as bad as this bunch replicant sad, even Tom, spade right or if there's like some unfortunate picture. In a tight shirt with my man, teats sponge flop We had a TMZ moment at the airport flooding, but they said that ask you they're asking me about alma, oh well. First yeah exactly it was terrifying. I you're going make, a joke, which is really what I want to do yeah. I can't you just because that's what us comedians do
uncomfortable yeah right, you just crack a joke to dissipate the tension But I know I can't do that then will be like you know this bunch flight light of you don't right. Jackson or whatever You know, there's a way that I guess they're, just trying to see what they can make happy You know yeah yeah. I do try to gin up so hard about verses on it's clash of the Churchill, television, you, you know. It's kind of. I guess you can't. You can't think. Well, it's really take a lot of the heat off the two kids that I touch. Oh, my god. What do you know? I was I wasn't I just comfortable. I had five minutes. I have five minutes in my head and I think luckily, because this I got banned, Anti Alien, all these people we had just buy this where I bring it all around. I just sub skills is my big closer now where we uh had just played like a sponge Bob Chris
concert at the Mall of America in Minneapolis and. Luckily, for some reason, every every time that car, around they said. Would you like a drink? Would you like anybody like a drink the bands, I want blood like musicians, and I didn't uncharacteristically and I often go like what, if I had had a couple of puffs on that played in my filter was, was not quite in such a strong federal. So it's fine fettle. I I would have a who knows yeah just like, I can't make it I can't I don't want to do anything. That's going to mess up my gig, I want you know the big waves? Don't worry you thinking mouthing off of that? Guy did What about kids? I mean if there's one thing, that our culture really loves. It is to be able to tear down a hero.
Oh absolutely revel in it. Well, there's a reason that, like when you, Google, Tom Kenny Dead Tom Kenny Dead, is the second thing that comes up will try it Norma by George is right. Well you're, not here, you guys seem to right yeah, but I've. I've tutor deaf to I've. I've been twitter death the couple of times and it's kind of like pervasive, fly like I said, I'm always run into people who are surprised to see me. I got the dead hopes on Wikipedia someone said over your Wikipedia page says: you died yeah that happened to me a few times. I'm going to like I died, just wishful thinking. Thank the promise of guns. I'm sorry just a cough button? It's not! Okay! It's going to cause a problem. If you great, think of a grapefruit. Vapors. Nothing
well one thing that would never happen to me lately, where I just felt like so out of control and panicky and then looked up thing to hear he started getting followed your computer supposed to say maybe like well. If it's true it's horrible, what am I supposed to say exactly? Why are you asking me and of it? What do you think about murder? Murder is bad when you make them and no I've never met Kevin clash. Have you ever been in a similar situation and, of course,. That's where the that's, where your mind turns into like a bulletin board with a bunch of recipe cards with jokes on at the right things pinned to the bulletin. Don't do that? Yes, that'll blow up this. What every answer that you want to say! I have ever met the man known over eighteen, David. I'm sorry can I take that back. Can you please raise that I'll? Give you a hundred dollars if you raise that. Basically, even though I've never had to deal with that before and this is funny like 'cause people who are celebrities have to deal with that. You know. That's just a part of their lives right, if you, Nicole, Richie or something you had, those people chasing around mean, doesn't match
your kids are with you or not, they'll chase you and your kids through an airport, and they just want something to happen. An but I've never had to deal with it. Or it was really. I We felt like a rabbit running away from like an owl. Well, how did you respond? Yeah hi? How did you respond? I just realized you know. Luckily, being not a dumb guy and not having imbibed on the airplane. On the airplane. I realized that my one hope was to be as boring as possible. Yeah not be funny not be interesting, not be amusing, not be controversial and then it's just so nondescript that it gets thirty com, and then there's a broad Halle, Berry's house, and you don't have to worry about that, which is what happened? Oh that's, a perfect yeah, it's just I'm just going is non committal and dogs. Can give anybody a yeah, I feel like my yeah in India, but I guess I,
so why did that make me so Manichee like? Why was I laying awake that night in bed like Is it like adrenaline, like almost like you just on my new car like a yeah. I know why tell me why, because because it's it's so weirdly invasive. For someone to do that and you have no control at all over how it's trade, how it's used they could attach it to thing that you didn't really say or mean or were referring to a number of ways and then, once that snowball gets out of your hands, there's nothing you can do about it and Chris, just to add to that thought. It was also a case like I felt like wow I've construct my life, so I can be on shows that are popular and shows that hits you. You know spot on the bench time whatever and make.
Make a living at being an actor guy and you know kind of yeah, maybe you know be ubiquitous in animation and stuff like that, but it but invisibly, ubiquitous you goal was always to be invisibly, ubiquitous and like not, then I felt like that thing that is one of the aspects of of my work like that I enjoyed the most was compromised like it was a the whole. You know I mean and and water was was in my cool little submarine that I that I've managed to build for myself and it It's still weird. I've never talked about this by the way is that this is the this really cathartic for me something well and what a scoop and I'm laying on the couch right now. No, it's important because it's it's it. You know When you see one thing that happens in in the business that we work in is is that it's very to achieve any level of comfort, and once you have that comfort, it's very scary to think
one weird misunderstanding that I didn't that has not to do with me could just undo ever like you start, you just start very fatalistic, You know what, if thing and you're like what did I, I didn't think so. True, yes, and that's right and it'll go away, and I didn't do it's not my fault you're right and because you know what happening you over Thanksgiving Weekend with that whole story asking me about yeah at the airport It was wondering where your mind is sort of going in that. Direction anyway, just kind of doing that that will gathering thing where you going wow. It's really easy for somebody's to unravel like something they spent deck building, yeah and and could be over something. That's, like you said, a misunderstanding, or not true, yeah and it kind of doesn't matter, it doesn't matter, who's hosted is still at large and let's say yet. Let's say it's something that's entirely.
Untrue, I mean, if it's some it is true like well yes or picaresque did that thing that you knew you shouldn't do but yeah, let's probably in some low on some level we're getting off on that risk and that's part of the letters yeah I mean it did. There's that whole. Let us I want to be caught. That's suppose, though, that it's a complete today, but it's a complete mess for they're a misunderstanding turns out to be true was based on say of someone who was on a blog who was just trying to get attention and it's like like a fatty Arbuckle, think we're going deal going back to a case for one hundred years ago, but you see how kind of his own been that way. Yeah like like someone was someone to some other outlet reporting an onion article as a thing that they are saying is true right, then all the sudden and then it blows up, and then you know there's still it's like you know if, if the, if the bomb goes off in your car.
If you weren't in it there's still decked out devastation in its wake, like the bomb has gone off right and they're still a little residue like yeah, it is it's which we, you build this little this this fun little bubbling and. It's in a rational, irrational. On my car 'cause, I'm Freaking boring, that you know what I mean it's it's like you know. You know, The weirdest thing about me is going to cause me that much trouble what he does laundry at three hundred am with the fuc worth watching this interview is over then it's you know so, but. You know we're ever sort of thing: those terms anyway, like just conceptually like like wow. This is like everything's kind of built out of Sugar, anyway, you know like all their careers yeah and even if it drop of water hits it. It could all collapse pretty quickly, and we all know guys at that.
Yeah do sometimes. By their own hand, You know well here it success or whatever, but I can tell you that you know if you do flustered in a moment and something stupid came out Mouth or they were able to spin something in a weird way. I feel like it take more than that to to undo everything that could be pretty easy to be like here's. What happened. I did this and then they have to give me a call and go out there. You know, or at least just like you know, I like to think that in general people or they do. They are somewhat reasonable and if you can, if you can make a case and be like here's, what even bother people like ok, yeah. I know that that's silly right, so I think it. I think it I think. Maybe we are, it might feel like it's. The the structure is more sugar base than it actually is because we were we're afraid you know Two kids, you have had it. You had a great job for all these years. Of course, you might, you know think like
It all goes away. Oh yeah- and I totally have like that guy that grew up in the depression mentality, but even though I I'm glad you grew up in like one thousand nine hundred and thirty, two, where you know what I mean like. If I, if I don't, have a gig on a day, I feel like it's all over him collapsing. This is it. This is the star. I a feel to clean my I clean out my garage. Wait a minute. Why do I have time to clean out my garage? Because I have no karere, it's all over God. You know. Well, I think the the other side to that is that it keeps you from stupid decisions, it keeps you valuing and working weren't enjoying enjoying the work like you know, you know, I'm sure you probably enjoy the process oh yeah, of what you're doing I like the process. I think it's fun We have to enjoy that, or else Nothing will ever be enough 'cause. Now
is ever going to make you go well there. It is I'm good. I know you have I'm set good. I finally found that thing that made me feel whole yeah. It's funny yeah, it's fun to get up everyday and you know make cookie boys on cartoons and some of its for kids and then some of it so yeah. I think it's good Daniel Tosh stuff and it's good to have a little fire on their undertows. You know it's like a little like. I better hear Valley around your toes Where would you rather have the fire escape the fire? feet toes. Okay, smoking feet toes feet belly. To so the sponge Bob Christmas, album yeah. Did you get it? No, they told me they sent it to you. I heard it, but I didn't get it on mass. Yes call. I made got the arm right. Yes, we sent it all to him. The first time.
I don't remember, I've mistaken this, I am not important. Doesn't matter I feel like what we should do, though, is hold on. Let's cut all this out, yeah you get the record that's good. No, no! No! All right act, one one more time take it over. Is it did you get that? Did you get the record okay now now you're? Starting to you, know: okay I'll start that over because now you start again, your head, okay, starting with the area, have fun with it. Yeah the voice that you're have to voice right now, they'll give you line readings. Did you get the record? You know I I'm gonna read put that a different way you got. Didn't you Christmas did you wrote it well and on this matter of record Jesus Christ right, I you know, I call it a record, but it's a it's a digital album did you know right now there, the hard disks anymore. It's just like. Itunes and boy boy. Maybe that's where the confusion was they just like tried to peel the MP. Off the computer and put it in an envelope. I did get this
empty envelope. Reserve CD's with musical notes on them. Now it's like what our nation is a sound cloud music, but it's just a it's playing the record to close it. Well, what about like those a birthday card yeah exactly? We should be do? You want us to put one of the songs at the end of the podcast, so people have a sample. That's up to you, I'm not going to dictate the content of your podcast. You had a lot of success at five inches. I think a lot of your success has been due to the fact that Andy Paley- and I am Fred Willard- did one of your earlier ones. There's no question was the basis. The foundation, no question all success that you've had since it was in the news I thought he handled it pretty. Well, I did go. I thought it's funny lot of stuff going on in the news like he just hit it head on yeah. It was kinda. It was kind of like you know when MTV Movie awards
your you know Paul Reubens thing any good yeah. I heard any good jokes lately yeah what that what was Fred's ultimate? I I had the feeling that all just went away at all at one hundred off because he's an old man and that's how it is used to doing it yeah. It's a yeah yeah. Are you sure? That's what have that? That actually is what happened. We know this for a fact. Or was it wasn't a misunderstanding? Well, he he did, deny it and he made jokes about him. Actually having the whole story non starter from the get go, I think the you know most peoples the thing that raised eyebrows was like. Oh wow, there's still porn theaters in Hollywood, you know yeah I mean that was the thing that shocks people watt. Where So here by how aware I mean why are cool? I mean I get. The farmers market was still there, but I I do. We still had a farmers market, but apart later won't remember the big headlines. Fred would tonight that's how bad the
purposely bad handled with much aplomb as I love I love Fred. Willard selection is good too yeah. He was. Can I tell you that I'll tell you that that story was. Really comforting to me, was to be that age and know that you can still do that now I just worry like like drive yourself to our theater drive herself, several to be in your 70s and lucid enough to find it and get the money yourself. My They have like the brain capacity to live. Your life live did not flashing I'm here with the children's entertainer Tom Kenny
we can cut it. This is this is what happens I don't know- I am not comedian who gets sucked into these things because you're on a show for kids and then you're on a bunch of stuff- that's not for kids, but they said oh nice subject matter for a children's entertainer to be traffic, but I get seduced by sitting here. We got all these guys. They were talking we're talking we're talking about everything. So if it is scatological, hey, I'm one of the boys, I'm typing awful nice for a children's entertainer, any panic dream of going over the transcription. Then I go over the transcription of my head going. Did I say anything that will likely ruin my career Tom. This is Tad Tad Nickelodeon, I don't know, add disturbed by your full lasted, not lucid. I think
children's entertainer we're going to have to get sponge Bob did imagine you know. I think it was lucid night classes like they would give my interesting at the hotel about community. Actually what I said. Actually what was was, if you know John Dimaggio, the fact that they think that you would be too offensive, so they replaced him as it was actually really funny now, but I think all the rustic Inn get to measure over here yeah. I really, I really venture out of the confines of Pg13.
There's a my wife. I've I've been with the trip. That is a good run nation. I don't know if you would realize that that was an excellent rob, Paulsen, impersonation I've never heard someone do Robert. That was what we are not going to stop doing, name check every voice, actor. Okay, do Jeff Bennett. This is what scares me? much of and did a concert at the hospital here in LA yeah. So this hospital out and then then I've got this weird cough. You know I mean you're in a hospital and yeah and I'm not like apple condrey or anything, but you going there a connection yeah, I don't know how they will not. Is that there is like a off thing going around yeah
something going around I'm sorry ma'am. I wasn't feeling well last week and my mom's like well there's some going around is like mom you're in Hawaii. There's not the same thing going around. There's nothing going around that you've heard about it off. Angela's maybe gets going around the mainland yeah. Some are going around now, others in your mom's in a white house I, for why now yeah jeez. I also was a life of its widely used by the skin and I'm quite a looker. Either you look like you grew up on a surfboard officials are really brought well. The surfer was on land, the relying on it a using a now is using it to cover myself in the sun. If you think this kicking his pearly white skin, he was using like a turtle shell. I am the guy who went to Hawaii and always had long sleeves and a hood on I really the experience there is a like
people aren't meant to be outdoors at the look like me, not translucent, people, sort of armaments and bling came to work in like long sleeves and a hoodie was around like a hat and glasses, and I was like what it is is I just got back from the beach and when you go over, go back to your call backs away, no, no, my personal in an apartment now and to go home for the holidays with me to crash on my parents couch and that's not fun the not a good holiday thing to do. I was going to ask Hawaii for the holidays, were Bj, Porter and Karina right now you know, but there were no. I waited too long. There were no rooms available, only rooms that were available were like at the Hyatt or something well, there's a couch available. Yeah. You want to question my parents, I kind of do before you think that mind. If I bring Chloe, no, no, no expected me Indiana to sleep on the couch I'll, be there Jonah yeah you can do uh, but rooms like the only rooms I could find at the Hyatt were like one thousand five hundred a night. Now I don't in spending a little bit of money. When I go back and write that off, I don't know if
to spend research, twenty thousand dollars flying to Hawaii and staying there, for you know like seven or eight days, it's boring and kawhi anyway, I love Kawaii. I've been there once but I liked it Johnny. You don't understand that the road is its horseshoe because they couldn't make a circle around the island. That's most of the islands, there's They there is equipment that they tried to build the road they just let it sink into the mud they. Never they just left, even one who doesn't connect all the way around. I'm talking about Kawaii, apples and oranges. Chris, I get it you're from Oahu, pineapples and bananas pineapples employee here, guy and Bobo Spam blow. A bo bo is the plan. AIDS Bobo, but nobody was that's when the chimps reenacted that Academy awards that David Letterman hosted wow. This is really going deep Uma.
Oprah Bobo in the host of the academy awards betta food you and your wife, a very funny cameo in one of my favorite, Kurt Russell movies Sky high Kurt Russell that wow. I never saw it really great movie, it's funny. It's a day full these in a Kevin, Macdonald's and I'll pick people to see that, like, I think, that's one of those ones. It's like, I think it's like a new beastmaster. It's just like I'm cable, like all the time for large letters, somewhere, yeah yeah yeah. I I've been in a couple of those movies, over the years where it's like not a giant hit, but it seems that be on the, and so it's amazing, like kids, recognize me and Joe from that, like low, really walking around or deal- and I asked him this- yes, we're gonna go wow you're the couple in sky high House fell it's it's.
It's a funny moment in the movie work, the movie, the great mission he worked on a movie and didn't ask who else was in it to Russell Wonder: woman Bruce Campbell's in it It's yelled, you got Dave Foley Mcdonald, one of the guys from the broken lizard, I believe in the script I was my part- was scared man that is Ok, so that was scared couple. I think this current couple stir together, they could get there yeah. I was just you know, you're yeah, but what when you're married you using him just holding hands and being terrified of things. I have a baby. We just bought a house. I just got checked out by TMZ what the doubt for the Christmas album. Is it helpful for you if this goes up before Christmas? This is gonna be on the air. It could be yeah. Okay.
Well, you know I don't want to be pushy, but I guess when the product is a Christmas album it's best to play before Christmas, yeah, I'd say we put it up immediately, will see. If I was smart, we would made a post Christmas, album it's all about, claiming that it's it's all about the other three hundred sixty four days here than our Chris. If you go on the most of the songs, is about trying to get like the pine needles on the tree, yeah exact, all the trash or the other holidays breakdown. Apothecaries days. Okay, I don't know if the secretary's day, hey GAD, we call them assistance, we call them assistance, executive assistant, they make your copies and your coffee Now you joke about that, but that is totaly a song sponge Bob would say it's true, and so I would it's also the kind of thing that they would argue about for hours. You can't Coffee and copies is
which side do you fall on yeah we have, and I are both insane I think we're at the socks. Now that is totally. What would happen is that everyone be excited about Christmas and sponge I'll be excited about like executive assistant day the and he would want to have he would be wanting to celebrate executive. I love it, I'm I'm pitching that for Season eleven boxing day thing day, Arbor Day generate these kids because you know you you're you're, you write something that might in some weird way because kind of a standard ever song to kids that are. You know, super into watching Spongebob right now. Maybe you know this some on this. Album will be like weird size that sticks in your head, like some kids album or would like Alvin the chipmunks like from when I grow up yeah
ITALY or are Muhammad Ali versus Mr Tooth decay, yeah. Yes, that really great kids albums of all time yeah or ask for any of those in the media how he does! Mr all, the I mean come on, that is on the This is the out of me, though it's it's like it's supposed, with Charlie brown- he's depressed it Chris, but it's just like it's like a Christmas song in a minor key. Isn't that great I was a it's it's I love it, but it makes me sad whenever I'd say it's a very sad Simon once I got a gift certificate to you know like a Levi's store and I went to go. I was like. Oh I I'm gonna get some new pants that I picked out all the path I thought were my size and I was in the the dressing room, trying to put fans that word fitting, because I've gained so much weight that song to play, and it was just like Christmas time. We don't work anymore, so and you know right when it starts going up, but also just resigned about it. Yeah
like they're, just so resigned about like it's like it could just start with fucking. Yeah there's. Actually there is a version, there's a big sign before the sauce. With that, what I love about that, though, is that there is especially as you get older like like when you're an adult, and sadness becomes kind of a part of everything like even happy. Things are contrasted against why I should really value this this because I know there's sadness coming you know what I mean. There's there's there's somewhere. There's like a tires are squealing, figuratively speaking, and then there there's something that's going to smash into us and derail us that's what life is. You know and I don't know what it is yet, but it's out there somewhere you know that's what I love about. That special is that, I mean, as you get older, you go wow, you know, Christmas is cool and it's fine and kids happy and it's good to see them. I wish dad was alive, though you know, yeah I'd like there. There is kind of like a lot of that. You need yeah.
It just becomes more and more part of your your life in the I think that Vince all music for that special is so evocative of At you know, it's kinda happy and sweet, and it's well it's very beautiful, but I I I thought it was a little sad and I feel like what will make that so good coupled with peanuts. Was that a lot of the early Charles Schulz, stuff totally had that yeah, like the characters are really you know when they were dealing with with mental issues and you know like is where he was working his own stuff out like. I think there was one where it was just like a few panels of line. I think maybe it was Linus uh, and there was even the wasn't saying anything and then last line of it was. I just became aware of my tongue like this very bizarre, like oh, my god
So weird psychological bucket, like a strange, almost anxiety, evoking and and so I feel like that in the music paired with that early, you know it was it's like it was. It was like it does those early existentialism that I think was then the John was handed off after he, you know, maybe stop doing much of them or maybe got older and a little more kid friendly, and then we Charlie Brown or Schultz and then don to Bill Waterson, you saw a lot of existentialism pass on to Calvin and Hobbes yeah. I think that's probably true, MILAN yeah, no, it's it's. Like, especially when you're writing music. For, like a really specific thing, like a holiday. You know you want you are, so it makes sense with the the character yeah and you know, Charlie Brown really is about that kind of angsty existential sadness of like looking
Looking for the beauty, you think would have happened to Charlie Brown as an adult. Oh, I think you know fistful pills, washed down with chardonnay and then his neighbors smell something weird in his apartment. That's what I think right so chuck still waiting on the brick wall, I just can't take it anymore. Life really, like you know his whole. His whole life is a football that's being taken away from him right before he tries to kick it lost another raise today. Life isn't for everyone, Charlie Brown and that's what suicide is all the things that I love Lucy's bust. You just call them and like hey here's our Christmas bonus thanks, I'm sorry you're not getting a bonus like still pulling it away from him or you can you can I heard five cents please, but luckily, Spongebob is all about. You know in since in finding the the
joy in the mundane like you were saying, I also through those those songs are fun to write the idea of being adults, and you know as as children you're. Basically, racing to excitement and things that you're excited about, and then so much of I think this it meant, is basically excitement without an outlet. It's like a yeah. I think that that's been squashed or x excitement that has no, no way to be expressed, which that happened, enough and then all the sudden, you kind of become a sad adult. Then it seems like your adulthood is you're. Not actively chasing excite and as much as you are running away from sadness in a way in a weird sort of way. If you have kids may be living vicariously through their Xm New found excitement right and Now? That's why idol the world of possible? One of the reasons why I think I was so adamant about you know I only work on. I only want to work on stuff I care about because they just want to be excited about the things
that I'm doing so that I don't become that. Why didn't I blah blah blah guy yeah yeah? Well, I think when you are the creator of stuff and you're the founder, feast or whatever. Then it has to be something you care about when you're, you know do a voice over or you know, which is, in effect being a session musician. I don't you really have to love unequivocally love everything, every project that you I think you're just having fun in the sure having fun playing your drum yeah yeah. I don't know this is this is necessarily record that I would buy, but it's fun to play drums on it right and you know it's and then some stuff is, There you go. I really feel like I'm bringing a lot to this money. You know I've. Excited about this, but even when you're, not the final. Maybe a little bit lost on you, you feel jazz, doing the best job
can within the confines of The job is very workman like yep me in a very cook. You know very just show up with your tools and try to build a shelf. That will hold up pretty good. Until one day till one, thanks I'm on that shelf from seven point two Richter quake Andy that's when they have a dance party quake no because of his name, not because he's was that he was because of the you know. You did in the news that the to open up the case at all children's performer Christmas yeah, the two former Clinton against the children thing- was getting back to you. First first thing is: gonna: do chips often parity's owns on the road people would enjoy?
we're going to show up expecting it they're going to need some monkeys trail. Not just any monkey is true. Chip, yep, I think we've exhausted everything make a good one. This was a nice session guys. Yes, so what's good out of podcaster? What's not ok! This is great Tom. It was ok. Absolutely you wouldn't be asked me, would you no? I guess if people start commenting just lay them all know that all they always do that they do anyway, sure they do man, not all of them. Just a couple people couple and happy people yeah if you get mad at a pod cast things are going great in your life malcontents, yeah! How dare do not be exactly the experience. I need. I'm sorry.
I'm just running away from sadness, it's best to focus on those people, though I liked it to converse it took a bit of a melancholic turned it was. It was good, been score. All the there was a very strong did it yeah. I I I just started thing in the Christmas lights, the this time song in my head. It's like. I just feel this Yeah this this wave of like, and even the you know what is the standard they do at the VA and and there's like a Grigor, enchant sadness six year old monks, my god yeah the most unhappy kiss yeah. Well, look at him. There all ugly album, not a liquor in the bunch. Why you sad too. It's not it's not funny. If you guys don't join in or just move on from the thing you don't just sit on the thing. I said and wait for me to find a way out
let's to hang in there and everyone did this guy laugh, but it wasn't that it wasn't on purpose. I just like I just feel like I didn't, have anything constructive or funny. In the words of the Jefferson Starship words of a to grab. Yeah and Jonah disappeared. Not tell you Marty, Bailey Fans, Marty Flynn, he had a hit song in one hit song yeah man, liberals to together, love confirmed what happened to Jonah was. We just saw a trap,
accident for that thing, with all confidence that would work, and it did not. I just didn't feel like reaching for his hand. I just wanna swing up and then just see what would happen turns out. I can't fly, never going to play volleyball with each of you, mother truckers spike the ball There it goes with play with the album. Well, the special which is airing right. You know Christmas Nickelodeon is called and a is called it's a Spongebob Christmas Special Europe and the album is It's a Spongebob Christmas, album excellence, it's on Itunes and Amazon, that I think they already had the art you know sure sure slipped slept under that, but yeah? It's really good.
We got Jonathan Richman Bland on there. No, you know all kinds of people here had Jonathan Richman plays some crazy as guitar on it like Patrick the starfish is such a Patrick star. He's a Seastar he's, not start fishing. You know uh is such a primal character like when you write songs for him. It's always about he's just pure it. So you know that he just like look staring at the packages and cinnamon and see what's inside kind of wrecks it? So it's just you, don't open your Christmas present You know, I mean like a perfect moment, is when you look at it before you know, what's inside yeah, and then it's kind of it's kind of messes it up, because you we're running a risk of disappointment. Once you look at God, I thought it would be something better. So just that world of possibility of just looking at a wrapped gift is what he likes. So it's all about not He sings a song called pretty ribbons and bows. That's not about that. That's about not unwrapping your gifts or ever opening them 'cause So
Jonathan Richman plays like a crazy like garage. Guitar backing that you I've heard him do since, like the modern lovers yeah kind of like an acoustical. These are not. If it is a book about the right thing right, rocking a bill Fagerbakke he is, is Patrick STAR very good and yeah yeah. He sings great right, we gotta sign for Sandy. We got like a you know, she's from Texas the character, so we got like full on swing, Bob Comma western swing, obsessive, so, let's write, a song that sounds like a Bob wills song from like nineteen thirty. Do do do do do do do do do do do do not only to do anything on this as well. Jazz bows Ob Wells as Texas, playboys yeah great. If you haven't heard Bob Wills, are all jazz guys. You know they're all like jazz, guys, wear cowboy hat and those that that's when the that's. When the lyrics more, it's like that, you know, like my, my favorite part will songs called you just take her oh yeah, looking great song, because there's no
like there's a lot of call and response, and there's no real lyrics. Just like do do do do do do do ha ha, you just take a 'cause. I don't want to that's the name of the tune, yeah, it's kind of like the western swing version of like surfing bird yeah or something where it doesn't really So how talk in Nashville, yes in all, just like random bar on Broadway in Nashville. This walk in some of the best live music, I've ever had just you know those guys that every night, maybe every week or whatever, and it's just tight and it's fun yeah, it's funny I go to it live, shows with my kid. You know my fifteen year old and you're going to see some band. You go out this you really don't know how to act. It a live show like they're afraid to go Craig Yeah, you know what I mean I mean I was going to show us a little but Jeff. Down and being said, then, when your plan and of course it was all about jumping up on the bar yeah around and you know and from the plumbing
types at take it easy Cobain trying to make something yeah now I see you know I mean yeah. I don't know I go to these shows and I don't want to criticize you don't want to be a buzzkill dad. You know 'cause your kid wants to turn this thing. I was going wow. Why do these? Twenty three year old kids have civil war beards? Why do they? It seem to be having any fun. I there I would not jumping around. I want to see a band that I thought make a quick. We have forty seconds. Is there a good Sorry, can you tell now you got thirty, no pressure. I thought they were going to be a lot better, but then, when I saw him, they just stood there straight. This band called Yuck great songs. It sounds like they're going to another place. They didn't do shit, maybe not like the restaurant inside, but does it
amid it wasn't a story as an anecdote. It was just kind of a thing to say, and you guys fucked me again. Oh I forgot to tell you there's no, no. Everyone have a habit. Nowadays, everyone happy holidays, everybody. What happened! I got that hospital cough sponge, Bob choked Gabriel, love this button. Oh, I was wrong. We actually have a minute left So there was the venue walking and the doors open up. Thank you, Tom's, choking on the monotony of your story. I've heard just the thing into the like the biggest story, the biggest story of twenty twelve. Hey thanks for, let me sitting for so long yeah. Of course, I thought I was going to do a segment and then I'd leave and they would be like four other guys to show up on my friend's entire thing. So cool yeah. Well, thanks for doing that,
