hey what's going on is bill burr and it's time for the thursday afternoon just before friday monday morning podcast and i'm just now i'm not just checking in on you
i usually just checking in on your seat i you work week skull and the cube
every once in awhile we have a special guest
is one of these thursdays we have the one and only steve
the black crows draw up drama
trigger happy there is new out my called full circle and he's here to promote his new book which i mentioned
advance copy you did all hollywood bill over this summer's called hard to handle
the life and death of the black crowes and that welcome thank you
pleasure to be with you sir i've read
i'm not a bigger ada period go i am not a big reader here we go and i have read you know i read on a biography silicon stabler what does it say about me that most people that like the book go first of all i don't read much your book yes i was probably i'm waiting for the reading people to tell me it's good yeah with iran raiders i gotta get me
i read a bunch of rock dogs always back i think one of the first ones ever read was like hammer the gods jurists a total
shit yeah i was a horse shit import say nothing on the devil and all that and i did this this i'm telling you
this is the one is far is like
everybody you know they read the book to see what was really lie did they get along and all of that and i gotta tell you my the
rocking vibe of this book
i just felt like i was friends with you for twenty years we're in a pub
are you cleared out and you just let it out because it's just like this so many epic lines
when will the jimmy page thing falls apart youtube
go get the shit but it's just like
jimmy page sing falls apart land that you tell that story when you were going to the payphone it was
hyde park in london is just like i just felt like i was like oh my god this guy if somebody ask him directions might murder somebody
when guys write these books because you know there's always been these this band is done it's fucking over for signing contracts are always
you know the fair
tar sorted out big joke in muse
and so i always feel like when i read these books that they
is that feeling of hope
maybe the band's going to get back together so i got i can't quite
the way i would tell you if i add a few pops in me but i dont feel that what this book safe well i'm not going back lou put it that way we re not either there's there was not a that thankful
when the ban blew up and twenty fourteen and for the reason we blew up which was our singer decided for twenty seven years i'll just demand all the money that
i don't know how you go back from that you know i don't know for me personally though that's that's we're done like there's not a chance in hell that you're going to
you're gonna the apple hurt like that how does it happen where like when the bans
it's not always feel you guys you know she's like
the budget goes to starve and you're right and one van you deserve you'd like this put platoon
this common goal let's
at what point
is it now that you look back on all that was the moment or did you sense along the way when you
seen cracks in it and people when i was kolokolo taken the right
where i was home just like hey you know what when i say
fuck yourself it means a little more now that is hanging out yet he gets you just start floating away they represent legally those horrible who guys everything down the just sort of echo and you just flowed off into the abyss we started seeing our i started seeing cracks very early but what i look at them now as it's not cracks into the foundation of what the band was its cracks
the foundation of what i thought the band was everybody was already who they were and every
responded to our success and our workload and all that in the way that their nature dictated
took me forever to recognise oh they were always that way i
you know it's easy to sail fame and fortune fuck so people don't you don't you don't
just throws gas on a simmering fire that's already there to begin with i mean it's like when mel gibson gets drunk he said things i've been drunk i didn't say those words
i've been that drunk and i've been that angry and i don't go there cuz that's not me
so faint all fame and fortune and all that success of our early records was a mirror for everybody and so
what it what i got out of the mirror was
you know a lot of uncertainty and end and a lot of you know my
spawns two people splintering off was to panic and freak out and like i've said a million times a band is a family and when a ban start when a man starts with family it's really a family
and when you have addiction in a family you have co dependency and a family
and so everybody brings their own bags to the shitshow you know what i mean in mind was you know
guy who sings i can make everything better
oh here are the robinson brothers and they have their views and their issues and i stepped in and then and then we grab the gate guitar player in that we grub debased part everybody brought their own shit and so so
the crack start to appear i look at it now is no that's just that was reality tapping me on the shoulder but me going not yet not now i don't wanna know i'm gonna i'm gonna will this into a better place will i have to say the amount of times in the book only reason because i am a fan of events i knew you were down but the amount of times i gotta give you gotta give it up to what you guys accomplished as far as the amount of times sure day you're
and then just something fucks the whole thing up and then just something else came along
maybe that happens twice if you're lucky by the amount of time that happened on you guys cause that's one thing that's only sad about reading the book is just like a market love to ban a lover ready yet but like but on the other side it was it really was amazing to were just finally
can somebody just go this is what the fuck happened and
this guy well into this fuckin asshole he said this in his shit and then i'm fuckin amidst basically how the thing is
it sounds like like a conversation so and i was really deacon out here
questions i want to ask you as far as like
killed me as far as like if there's a huge
and like your ban and you got this killer drummer like you
that's the thing about it is is if you would like a killer singer you can eat your
like the way people listen to music it's like
the singer first so they
lot of people's minds if you listen to it only costs a superficial level there this sounded the ban yes oh a guy like that can go out and get off on a hired gun work and do that type of shape and then people what we say about the drummers iq bands only as good as you drummer few drummer with its true you're fucked but like i feel like will name a great band with a shit drummer they don't exist
there there are great bans who singers one great
you don't say there's like a variant of rio those began but but but his hand but a ban that you about an alternative in the all time thing i've a body back in atlanta teddy maroni i said you get a singer drummer what else can fake it right
it's kind of true at a certain level but the thing is when the ban implodes though as far as a drummer then trying to be like well
the drum sound of the black rose to try and get enough
and going like i was
you know when you say near this panic i can make a better i can fix it there was any of that like long the fuckin drummer
who's going to give a shit if
play everybody goes and goes solo this guy's the lead singer he's like the face he's he's kind of like
same thing and can kind of sustained something right because i
i know i wish i was never honestly never thought i had
is that where a primal of just my thing is splintering right now when
took a minute and said well what happens if this goes away
i was a wine get another gig good and i'm a great member of a team i mean i knew at my strength were right and i knew that i could use those elsewhere i didn't want to
i didn't want to go through that because
i always had the vision of you know i dropped out of college and moved to atlanta to start a band and i
the band i drank the without doubt about one thing at a time getting to bear before economic growth but the
something i wanted to do what my whole life is being a band the band to me is no different than a basketball team i mean i really looked at it like that and i and i i looked at it like i'm bill russell and most
fans don't appreciate his greatness so i get it
defend the rim i'm gonna get every fuckin rebound on my head all the ala passes and you guys go duncan shoot threes and i love that role that's me i gotta people of playing with it i got it a month
i got this you guys go to the fuck you want i'm not going to ever miss the one we're going to be need to be and so
i play basketball that's how i played soccer i plead sweeper owes just like i got all this and i dont want all the attention
be like let's go right and then when i saw chris my second nightmare lana saying and i was like that fuckers got something you know a holy shit
a few months later when he asked me to play with them me and rich and chris you know me and two brothers but then chris and i were like best friends you had these two weird
brothers that were at each other's throats and then i step enemy and chris became inseparable
are just bad cop good cop whatever you want to call having a fucking blast but then he
as brothers so there was that that dynamic of those too little to man crews within
three of us that that was very
there's a lot of chemistry in power in that
because we were all brought of real intensity to it
and we didn't know what to do with it took awhile to figure it out and we needed help to figure it out but it was built
strong
there's also desperation and there's there's a lot of fuel to make sure the
can thing go somewhere and that was already special so from but from the jump out like i'm in a battle brothers
this ain't about me on any fuckin level publicly
behind the scenes though we're all here together and by god i'm gonna have my say and i'm gonna willed these things in the patent in local ban that was much more easy to do
and so
i always wanted to be that way like that that idea of
you know if everybody knows their role
will ever stop us
first time you in that band and
you don't i'm you have to go into it think it i'm gonna make it a hundred
i'm to this day convinced if i stayed in my original ban that ban would have made it that's the only way you have to think well i'm enough of man
is that a lot of shit for nothing
and i realized early on you just tell people you're gonna do something it helps you to get it done so
go public with your young but i said it
yes i haven't right this whole you i just told you begin here and taken this year off
why did the some two years off and i just said
i'm done and i had to keep saying it but it's really easy but like
i don't like watching people get drunk to itsfunneh
i therefore think i could go into a bar there is sometimes you know i had a couple of show
caroline north carolina in after my second show asheville they both went goes triumphantly our shit and i gotta say does this man i wear this beer bourbon arrive and better yeah
and we were going to clemson
state the next day and we had it
this house on a fucking lake and shed and it's just cigars the whole thing was there and the
still had moonshine analysis us like can i justify this for the experience but i didn't
what's so but i was so you manifesting this is great for my listeners to cause i have a lotta i get a lot of questions
everybody will again i want to do this i know you can i do this is a two way to do this
the answer is always i've just been like number one be high jumper eighty yet it's too far i long allison alone or the saying the best time to have a greater these five years ago
belle of that but it's true and but but you're gonna be five years goes fast now and so you know i mean
from being in a ban to two then i moved to allay in two thousand to
few years and i had this idea for tv show not alter the event of the story is nothing happened but a whole lot of should happen to get to a place where nothing happened to me
should i got deals in place i put things in it was like i was in development for a week and then it stopped and then people got fired
process really taught me that you know
as a whole and i'd i'd already learned but i still learn there's a lot of people that just don't do that you don't go
and so life rewards action that's been might thing for a long time now sometimes the reward as you get your shit kicked out here but there's a
dealer door opens but you learn how to picture show
i'm now on my second like i have a radio
steve gorman rocks it's a nationalist indicated class a gradual
after i had a nationally syndicated sports talk show and those things both started for me telling a guy
mean mice mice radio sports were sportswear talk radio career started because i sat and on an afternoon show in nashville a couple times and
the rock guy coming in and knows a little bit about sports and i can speak in complete sentences
next week i can get you on once a week
we can't even get a sponsor give you a hundred bucks or something and i
no actually i'd rather have my own show
as i said it on what would forgive my saying is because what show and i said it's musicians talking sports
and this is a national ten years ago levin years ago and he goes up
good kind of see that you know we have a lot of musicians want to sit in do you think you could really host a show
yeah man i was going to be a sportscaster i was a broadcasting major in college that was always the plan
this idea of had forever not true
out a great at the time in ten days later on like this esteemed gorman sport i'm on the air go and what fuck it
i would like to you like i was reading in modern drummer
lady early years ago two years ago i don't want to date myself thirty years ago
and i remember ray you add a quote in there you would be like the ban had that that first down there came out and you ve been playing drums only like three and a half years you in front of my first kid in march of eighty seven and shaking my
if you came out february ninety
it's insane are recorded in the summer of eighty nine southern plan for two years we made the first record and went into a studio had to play to a click in it why when under studio the first time to do a demo for an m records and i've been planned for three months jesus
man was just like okay i mean
like a lot but unlike a lot of musicians
i mean i have my i have
i
problem now weird family dynamic what are everyone's get their shit they bring it in their issues but
i didn't have an issue of who the fuck am i
i knew i was maya playing was always i always played like i play basketball like
can be confident you can fuck up but don't be don't
question yourself and so it when i put an end same in soccer when i played sports i would be nervous before a game
like we're gonna need our shit you know but once the game started things slowed down and i
did italy i always knew what to do and if i
mistake i just all oh i fucked up but it wasn't decided not to do it because i didn't execute did the guy recording know that euro in plain for two years in the gatt
the gap will my first demo was which was
i wasn't even in mr kross garden yet they had their drummer lead
to go join another band i got a record deal so chris just was like dude come play this demo for us
and i said have only the plan for three months he has now come on you can do this and he said yours
has anybody else around here so i went into the studio i want to do studio the guy and i walked right over to producers name is steve grand back and i said man i've been playing for three months
so far in over my head
just tell me what to do i'll do it but i have no i'm flying blind but i also
confidence that i knew how to play and i can only play straight b
like anna and i also
because i was starting at twenty one i was smart enough to go i didn't have the
keith moon years in the basement by myself like every other drama like bobby brady's just crazy so i was making up for lost time so i knew i just gotta play straight beats man if i didn't play phil for a year and a half displayed i just plates
speed up that to me was my success level
and i could hit hard and so on
local bands in the drummer would be good but by the third song you could see he was like he's out of
and then he would start to question himself and i'd see drummers fuck one thing up and the rest of the gigs you can see it
oh right oh i always knew that cuz i
sesar drums when i watch drummers my whole life i played in my head forever i really did
and i always knew if i ever do it this is how i'm going to do it i spent year
thinking about that that's what you said in the thing a rival in play the three and a half years i spent a lot of yours thinking about language rooms area by passively what does that mean that it is something right i really thought i was right well i i i had a double life i mean i was living a full life but really my brain was like
so you don't want to hurry around the tom's you got to keep it in time i mean i would literally go to gigs in college
and that's what i'd be i'd be watching the drama the whole time thinking
do that one day and
and i already knew i was late i already i already i always knew starting late something i don't know i don't time to make mistakes
i've always been late
comedy later state back and first grade i fucked up we forever to get through college i gotta became a dad late hour i feel language but always behind i on the eighth kid of eight
so i started kindergarten like whatever form an aggressor high school and i wrote my first week of college i turned eighteen so
but i was the youngest kid in my class and i always
like i was behind everybody cause at first and second gregg ten months is a huge did ass in development so my
my sports came a little later like i'd brothers that were great athletes and i was where
should a ban but i felt like i was way behind where it should be you know i always felt like i'm not very remote area and the drumming thing was the
first time i ever was at least prepared to be late alright hey

and stay there all i can do that
play the song a few times and he came out we played him the song and it goes
just do exactly what you just did and i just don't just
if you dont speed up and if you don't know if you can play steady it's gonna be fine
he's a good producer to do i probably played for
i've takes and he goes you're done drum tracks great we got it not in all my holy
should that went well as easy can do this
comedians kill their first time on stage and then and then you know i've done that i got a position is a natural jumped up and
ten minute thing and i was like holy shit i could be a committee it and then i went back and it was awful like and i couldn't both of this
consignment up with you thinking about the first time course
do it yeah you just like you like on my god i gathered around and material wait a minute at seventeen minutes because you're not
you can't get out of that flow but two
to the book
i know you ve told although stories everyday what what just it for something different what was that
i point for you what gig you sit back there the bands just on its the album the gig or whatever you just sit there go unlike while
this thing that we built
i can't believe summer ninety three we were we are in europe doing festivals
and headlining like glastonbury and all these giant festivals
so we go we go from festiva
to go back stage it's all trailers and we carried a giant tent with us that was bigger than this room it was like
military tent for the generals to hang out in and we attached it off the trailer and it was weird
ugh down being bag chairs lava lamps anchor pipes stereo the size of a fuckin either you can run a bug gig through it i mean i mean we filled it with vibe and everyone who went that was where all the bad other bans would congregate they'd come over we had
cases of beer and all liquor and everyone just it was that central location backstage so
there there were shows were i'd be sitting i'd be in there
can a beer it's four hours before reading in a play and theirs
like sinead o'connor and a couple guys from def leppard and
european danced band i've never heard of is on the bill and then some german punk bad and then a kid from ugly kid joe and they're all in our tent and where we were always very hospice despite being a package
and wolves most at time
in those settings we rise hospitable we did have that weird southern like oh come on in if we gotta get up without a spread right and we always had like you might get yelled at an there but we were gonna get a committed during our beer and
but there is also
play a little bit of the power dynamic of liquid
you know we were feeling it
those that whole summer
that feeling of like
headlining glastonbury on our second album it was like motherfuker
now what we have made it and the band was at its best like it was all clear
right then could you think stuff
tat during his show
while the show is going really good or would you be worried that that would zap you out of whatever zone you in that you will go a different i didn't say
you can see a crowd response and you could see
either good or bad but it was but now in those days i was way more i stepped
do a bubble zone that was all about what it was locked in and i'm listening to everybody else every single every stroke is
important thing i'm ever going to do
break a stick
and getting another stick out of the bag either right or left if that means i'm dropping if i'm not going to hit that snare with full force there's
one person in a field of sixty thousand people that knows it and it's me but it fucks me up
the other guys in a band wouldn't even know but i'll be like mother
so it men and the second the shows over it's gone and i'm out under you remember what happened
and so when the band was when we when i had gigs like that that's
that is to me
that's what it was all about it was never about look at those people cheering that was great
and of course i like that i prefer them to have a great night than not but
thing that you can never replace and the thing that wants to ban lost it can never get back is that
there's an essence to six people going on stage and
going into some weird cocoon
that's over not only is the audience really thrilled and happy but we just did something i can't talk about in a linear fate
play send in about ten minutes i'm going to remember it
we think it was like i was drip it really
now like a collective feeling tune you gotta get off stage i do him yeah we we could walk to the stage having fights and arguments and really really i mean literally punches being thrown and go
go fuc yourself that's a walking to the stage really well if i'm such a
you take a shot mother fucker and plays gentlemen the black rose really exaggerate and we must now came to see us it bottle rock and twenty thirteen festival in northern california and an you walked up the stage with us you eat
if you're my room and you are going that doesn't happen to me alone you re out and you just don't go play don't you need some time and i pray you would just shoot and shadows like arouse like dude were rigour
wait a few gigs and and and i was
talking to you and everybody else in the bands already walking to their places and out i'll see you in a bit then you were looking at me like we could do it and i was like
we do you know and i did it was
but i mean but there's been those exact same moment
brothers or even sometimes me and with chris gone no
i tell you what how about this how about you go fuck yourself
and then walk and then walking out to start the show
because it get a couple songs in and
going well there could be
once we're between songs christen
the brothers were to be arguing right and
go hey why don't you both fuck off your both wrong ok there's just one
thousand people here they don't care about you or you what they care about is the next song can we
and then they both go fuck off and then i would just count it in
it now and then and then halfway through that song
something could have happened that immediately it's over
i didn't mean it that's what i was going to ask it is if you play and he's like when you play and even if you said go fuck yourself ziegler turnaround smiled is that that faced
feeling transcends all turn in the best of times in the mid nineties
he would go up and down throughout a gig and you'd have a high and low than a high and low and if it ended on a high if if if by the on core everything was right back we're supposed to be nothing else mattered
can you tell the story is more my favour they blew me away is
when you got your opening for the stones how well the rolling stones have exiting africa football stadium
canon in europe in ninety five with the stones on the voodoo lounge tour and
and we did we finish or two nights embezzle switzerland and so after the at the end of that he was on real data basil what they said hey you don't come back to our hotel and in a will hang like woody round would is like
come over we'll have a lot of a drink you know and which with which means a lot more than a drink and so
we do our set they're playing their show and then at some point about twenty minutes before their said ends were told just be it
be on stage and be ready to await instruction and
this is so cool and so where do you know you're for one thing we're standing on the side stage that came down right behind a black scrim
get to a mirror essentially the audience just saw black wall but you could stand right behind it and see everything
so i would stand i was
this close to charlie watts but but invisible i was right behind charlie watts for shows
would come over and stay
in front of charlie facing charlie sixteenth is looking directly me essential
and they block in for an entire song and i just stand there and and when
it's one thousand nine hundred and seventy two all over again
there's a story in the book
where me and richard standing there and they do monkey man and keith never moves he stares at charlie for the whole song never they just groove
and me and rich just looked at each other and didn't say a word but we had a real thing of like man we're like that like that that's
we understand that
even say it now and i can still i get goosebumps like third we had those they had
thing in that we were like math fucking were on we got you know since really great b
get to us like let's go be those guys and so anyway
how to say
after one of these gigs theirs
ten minutes left in the show and then they go okay how many are you you know it's like
the band and anyone had their wife or girlfriend i guess but whatever
they bring us down off the back of the stage and there's this fleet of volkswagen vans and that's
or sponsor so that their all their and and
okay you guys are all in those back to vans and it's like twelve vans
two rows of six
to buy side six deep twelve vance or maybe it was ten but whatever that's what i look like and we
get in the back to vans of the entourage and we're like in the dark
and behind the stage and you can do that there is a plan europe let you do it they finished jumbo jet flash it it's like those girls go and dad dad don't and then you hear this they stakes fireworks start shooting up from were in
between the back of the stage and where the fireworks are being launched from so to my left i'm seeing firework guns just go in and it's like a fourth
it's not visited them physically six hundred of them and then to the right is the back of the stage and you hear a stadium people going crazy and
you could hear like oh the the noise is done it's just fireworks
they're taking their bowels
and then all sudden like the whole area over and becomes lights lights up like
in all these lights go on around us
down the steps back the stage here comes make your comes keep every one of those guys has his own val like with like his personal assistant or whoever the singers ever they they fill in the rest of the vans and it's like they're all move their hustling and their surrounded by people hustling them and the fire
which are still going up right
and the crowd is still going through the whole stadium is a wash and light and fireworks and then
i hadn't even noticed this but the the vans are surrounded by police cars and motorcycles
and i got one count every one of them hits all their flashing lights
so suddenly we're like what the five were surrounded and the entire motorcade pulls out of the back of the stadium and
there's like a
one lane road that were on and then all sudden we're on a bigger like an access road and then up a ramp onto an interstate highway in switzerland
all of the roads are blocked off there's
their traffic
in all events is still watching that there were streaming in watching fireworks and within
in a minute of the first police like turning on we're pulling onto a highway the entire it so it's
it's a dozen if not twenty police cars
cars and motorcycles
we get on the highway that the exit where you can see they've blocked off the highway so
when we get on the exit ramp there's no traffic coming the whole next stretch of road is blocked off there's no access
we are driving at a hundred miles an hour in tight blue angel like formation
edward none of us are saying a word we're all just going
like you in the born identity for real and
down the highway for about six minutes tops and then right off of ramp
all the roads
the town of basil blocked off every road wrong is theirs rutledge light can be read and matter we will right through it and that we just pull up outside this building that's an unmarked it
looks like an old two hundred year old wall for
first thing and all the
vehicles just stop and then
door opens and we just step out in all the stones and other everyone's on the sidewalk like and there
stall
already a million miles away this is this is then this is our version of slowly walking to our bus you know to an eight we walk into this through this door
that's unmarked nordic courtyard in its justice they call it
oh tell but it's really just like a palace residents were just the rolling stone stay when their town apparently and what he had his own apartment a multi level it was
bigger than my house in atlanta where he lived for his four days in town and we would have had a great great night with them and then at the mic didn't come up but everybody else did by making charlie weren't there everybody else was but
that that was just one blip primarily to go do cardio the young sure he did that was one bullet emmi and again the whole that that the thing was
it's not just isn't it cool to be rolling with the stones it was just a question of
we thought we had gotten to some great level and that that was like this thing of what our while we're we're still just on the first lap of world is a big banned you know
that it was just an incredible thing tonight just above the daddy their everyday life for fifty years
but the genius of the fireworks shows you still entertaining it out you don't get stuck in that cause they literally cause ridiculous traffic jam they get out of that and data
efficiency
loved it in the book because you're a really just described the way just it was actually better he said this way but just said like
the way was just like we were behind the stage and then put every just happened in and they can get your head spinning and then all of a sudden you just sit nan keith seeking a shepherd pie attack our nation i shall make me we were laughing and so we can castle you would driven by never been seen every even seen it we are that we by the time we got two woody's room a promise you forty of the fifty thousand people know stadium were still
just wait uncle enough waiting for the the ode to get some leg room to move that still just slowly in the aisle you know you to stand or bumping into again for trying to get back stage did eat the backside i lay with errors they got there in a castle you're never gonna find you can find it yeah their second sandwich insular my guy that some cause i remember
the bill cause we was told the story what time about
george carlin had like the record as far as like a performer
venue
relax would still be like he would be like i guess already paid as i
thanks a lot you guys are great i'd see later and it was just right out the door in their hearts and gone like he was fuckin gone like david
was still clapping and he was forgotten and i thought that that was cool and then to see that i was just like them you actually dimming that's like a presidential motorcade your and our hundred traffic doesn't exist the throat rules don't exist you can y ever you want and in a minute just a map and that's the stones are mean i e what what does you to do me there's a but these bans that are just at that place where there's no getting your arms or how big they are it's like you just think about
i saw the other day
but your edge as his mountaintop and malibu compound or wherever he lived at their legislative areas like what does the edge do like these issues if she's gotta look up here to get the town of sky logo of course you get to this point we're like nothing really applies to you any more than i do what my thing about as i don't understand why what placed you right from then when
like it's some point you got to have some dick cut you off in traffic was fucking asshole
it caused me my own impatient caused me to fuck and scratched the rim of my fuckin corner
you're also big sports fan so jolly that are not where we are racing we're almost half way through the finance fell regular season which as you have faster goes verity six games in out of sixteen game schedule as a tenancy titans fan i hadn't noticed
i know you guys are what you think of the new uniforms i like
i mean when when football games and tell you look good work
six owner
but we have a we have we ve had like alabama september schedule sylvia emigrate the dolphins the jets where their quarterback had monarch yeah just saleratus if you into a promise of the great
the redskins we played this
it was the first week ben was in that weak goes probably are best when we play with and that now we played buffalo who
is three an hour and it was it was it was a hard fought
steelers and patriots just reminded me cuz you did my podcast the new york
first time we met at hotel room
you came in and did when i was doing a sports podcast we talked a lot about the patriots in the steelers in that
yeah and when we
we haven't lost to them since and they beat us one time and only those horse shit it's not a catch but it was a catch wrote and just for whatever reason just sometimes just do well
seems like the dolphins and the
cows have always fuckin just been
when i see no i forgot irene said where people can get this where they can go to barnes and nobles and get off your fuckin ass and go down to a bookstore divided into the life and death of the black rose by steve gorman its wherever you get books is literally
it seemed like a lot of people that have like the ipad but you read books with yeah yeah it is absolute kindles a thing the audio book is the thing i read it the voice of the book if you need thirteen hours and thorough you sensitive to me and i regret you read it very fast when you first got back to do and what we do
i was really busy and i just kept the first text i went is this
you fucking what is there a punch line too this is you who are like i'm half way through and i was like i just
yesterday or whatever it was like wanted some of em are taken that you guys we're all such characters
so everyone
the ban you didn't you couldn't really gauge what anybody was gonna do from is this guy gonna fuckin flip out throw something to this guy just gonna quit out of nowhere that it had
that thing you mean you ve been watches shell yannick idea and watch the book well it's funny cause you know there's a whole the band one after the other to doesn't want to ban went away came back in two thousand five and then i went from five to thirteen
couple years off in eleven and twelve
i've had a lot of people say like my why didn't you spend so much time on that second part and unlike just fatigue
it's the same story just change the names when we had a different terribly what's your favorite story that didn't make the book we just like
ok ok there's a whole chapter that i took out because it really doesn't it's a stand alone episode and i wrote it wrote the book i wrote like three times what is the final books are gonna shit tunnel more material
there's an entire stand it was easy to edit it because it just has nothing to do who really with anything else but we get sued by a guy enough
i'll tell it really quickly in nineteen eighty nine wheat we made our first album in the summer of eighty nine okay it's in the can it's finished it's done
and then are based player johnny call one day goes here
a friend of mine he's a tour manager for the georgia satellites and
lights are kind of done for now but they were hearse in his house in his basement he's gotta pee ays gotta drum get get the whole thing i played him
record he loves it and he said if we ever want to rehearse in his house we freeway
any time
and so now workplaces are advanced from the label was five thousand dollars that's
got to make shake your money maker so
is that didn't last long
by the way we can get it for months when i got my one thousand dollars advance i went to
restore worked and i put in my two weeks notice and three weeks
after i quit i had to go back to work so i've spent four thousand dollars was like on halloween and i was back at thanksgiving weekend
and then the day shake your moneymakers released i was there putting it in the bends the day came out o still working at a regular and how much how much later before you could we will we hit the road like three weeks later and then i never came home on the weirdest out did you ever manage that believe than yours yo yo be back i mean all the map out the bookstore i mean at the record store most enable the record stores it's got it's called wax in fact it's in little five points in lana it's still there i still go there every time i'm in town the owner
danny beard dear friend of manager sean born i lived in his house for a while i'm still great
it's it's like i have to go it's like a if i'm in town
to go at least walk in and say hi i can't not it's my last job that's us oh yeah great great guys are right well
we got you got to get this
but you see i was cool you are working to record that fuckin thing it's our only hope why was this guy that we were hurseton is basement a couple times it he's a fungi english do these are love your band fantastic and do you know you can't says and i can't sense when an english does it asshole for a while that actually works the agri jarring haste
to say look satellites have done i want a manager and we're like you wanna managers and we didn't have a manager yet and we
no we're we're gonna get a real manager like a big time guy which is who we end up getting pete angeles who is amazing but system through the fall of eighty nine we were hurseton this guy kevin's house and then we said well did you can be our tour manager that's what you do
imagine we kept saying no no no
this whole thing went down where
we had to actually kind of getting his face and go hate motherfuker
not part of this you're starting to piss us off
we also want to lose free rehersal so that we were navigating this thing no one ever said ok you'll do it but we did say you can be a tour manager
not manage your man and not met and not at all in fact he was with us tonight we met pete he was there when we hired peat and pete said you already
a tour manager whose done it fucking great ip
thrilled we had this guy felt for people
tor manages a guy sets up your travel i wouldn't ire works are going on there are going it alone event back and this is what he'd drive the van subtle with the club get
do a hotel pretty simple its fisher price management skill right that's what he's not making business to now you none of them ever he is given direct orders from the manager he just that isa logistics guy at that's at that time very simply not the usual portraits romantic disused but when you're a brand new ban on your first tour it's it's
it's it's really easy
long story short he quit
girlfriend had a baby he did know she was pregnant you can mole that when over four minute big shocked to him he quit
we say thank god we dodged the bullet wait wait wait we don't have time you're a busy man
tell us where we had a record release party in atlanta her water broken that's when he realized she was pregnant he really
she's pregnant when her friend called and said come to the hospital she's having a baby how long it been since
drinking with us that night at our record release party she's fat
she's not a small woman but the point is he quit
this is a whole nother podcast baby chicken whole nother podcast wow
and i remember thinking what kind of guy lives with a woman that doesn't know she's pregnant like she didn't tell him she kept it from him anyway that's not my story to tell my story to tell is
he sued us
a year later and said that we had made him a partner in the bad news and title the one sixth of all the profits from shake your moneymaker
based as law suit
doodle that i drew on a napkin with a sharpie and he said that was our contract and that went from
me and nineteen eighty nine sarcastically making fun of them for being an emotionally overwrought asshole
to him putting us into a corner
and it went all the way and energetic six we were on court tv for two weeks
defending ourselves against the sky please someone
hungary sixty six so let me show you
we were the subtle lose settled willem that's why
do it cuz i know you end up being up having
we had it was it's an incredible hulk but anyway but that whole story in the book
like a stand alone chapter early doesn't move the narrative of anything so it was easy to take out its
it's on supper island cuz i get to talk to that guy
yo yo while he hasn't reckoning too and we see em around town was like kevin i had a project like that can do it not where what is wrong with and what are you what did he say
man i'm old were mode and of course i like you
we met you after the record was done you quit before it was released
so you are entitled to a sixth of our debt at that time if anything we were ninety grand in the hole to the label
fuck you talking about i did something i'm going to say what it was but i did something a while ago
the one guy involved in it
none of us made any money and the other guy made money was the guy fucked up everything and then suit us so he actually we can not only did we not egg money off this thing we end up losing my this guy was like
i want to talk about all i know is the premier for the thing he showed up with a giant like gash
on his forehead because he again shit faced at his house and fell in face first into the fireplace and told us that he was in like i'm going to sue you mode yeah you know so
how works in show business in anything has any litigation attached to it will move forward he knows that so he knows we have to settle
i was just like this always that fucking guy
an old oh hey you know what i'm a fuck up you guys you're gonna do somewhat there soon know who's gonna take care me so what killed me is
our whole thing went away nothing happened in this fucking asshole ghetto
goodfellas that they finally just slit his throat
before you get out of one of my favorite steve gorman moments
other than watching you play live was when you did the dean del re stand up and his birthday
you played like a like a good time you just fucking show up like you would like
what's going on in the days i came annual aid rockaway is good
great time tonight and you just said a great time
you just pointed out to all the empty seats you go you see up see then there that's gonna be fuckin
carnage tonight
we going to lay waste of these people just like jesus christ i was watching you play i was having such a fun time
have to sit in front of you at the blue yeah yeah which when i could talk about that part but you fuckin like i already was such a huge
fan of your playing but to watch you play different material to see in this environment
credible it sets a night i will i will i will never forget we know they do it again is what we need to do while their dean's cook enough somebody's keys deftly cooking up something is an anniversary is something coming up in throwing some names around and i gather that remain
i should call and make sure they're not on the road when that goes down cuz i definitely want to see that but i
happy for you man you got the steve gorman rock she got the new trigger hippy album nationwide
hippies album full circle and then some came out last week it's available everywhere you get music
and hard to handle hard to handle by the black crowes
red thank aren't is like about the way in which your version of the great i know it's your version was you gave me you know
but you sure you william provided the greatest blurb and i
can't tell you how many i've done so many interviews and they go
was ashes of rock by everybody says that's a greatest thing i've ever read it's on the black book your quote it's incredible if you never read angela's ashes it was about this kid irish kid surveys a growing up in ireland and it was just is heartbreaking story of endless dad was just a raging alcoholic and but every once in a while he would take the usa turn around and around eva gonna go go now would you be page idea he would fight can get some money he get a job and then that was the pay day please
come home please
come home and feed your family fix you kids i've got of infection on its part and i then its use was beyond ten minutes ago he's forestry humphrey energies inept but every time you had that hope like there's no way the whole fuckin i forgot it was written by an irish ghak yes those like there's no way the whole book can be this was frank mccord yes
you sent me that
i swear man i looked at it and i just i was i was overcome with worms that was like that is the greatest compliment anyone will ever pay me
for anything i ever do it's also draw to handle the life or death the black rose steve gorman thank you so much for common aren't beg you guys listen and have a great we can you can copy on monday night fucking she's told me forever that i have a dvd i never bought into it and she found and went to the website and she read all the things do and it was just like they might as well just had a picture me sit there not listening to somebody focusing its on some anti walking across the table before looking its with enough do you have that problematic alive i think alive alarm myself in a lot of my committee in france have tickets and do you think that that's why we think in bits rather than scripts i think it's because i think our
i constantly again in our minds are constantly gone whether it's trying to be creative whether its thinking this whether its being upset we're just we can't concentrate when i was a student i was your age student but there were no different
anybody else whose scatterbrain which is funny scatterbrain name
you're gonna maybe i may say always i voted with feeble like they had something recently
they tried to say that there is some study enough with a nobody knows
did it was trying to say that you know
in our view all these comedians enough for this study the figure out what makes comedians funding now immediately i'm thinking any comedian worth anything is not gonna be participating
in that fuckin thing or if they knew when their struggling they'll participate and they're gonna give bullshit answers just to make their free
laugh for themselves left right so they came up with this whole thing that guinea comedians around sociopaths or some fuckin i saw i like that's ridiculous they
because i'm not saying there aren't comedians
who are sociopaths but this firemen these mothers does this all kinds of people that are still
leaders of the world was sociopath it just what is is there i think its people who are
funny funny
figure out why the fuck something's funny absolutely
and even know i wouldn't like when you were talking about that guy at the yankee game
cap yellin out there this commercial were
the budget yankee found you saying that had spelt out yankees across the desert they were wrong here they were hammered or whatever right or though they just were right would just like they were just in not organised where its had yankee so sad ascii ascii so this guy at the game
any time there was a low in the game wouldn't know
but what are we looking at it would there be alone the game and you guys
the hell is that ski and everybody would just start laugh and yet ever knew when to do it yes like that guy he added
now that i was not a comedian but he had
comic time when there was a low on the game he knew was an important year time in the game he knew probably wouldn't do that
tv timeout he wanted to keep the excitement
unbelievably play by ear you know
hobby for me so i have a tremendous amount respect for people could do that shit but like they could never just break down the he would it would
just sit there and be like now look what makes this guy be able to play the
our like that it's just like that just a good at it and envious nerd who can't do it that's what it is it somebody whispering maybe they wish they could do comedy but the fact is somebody would do a study saint comedians are also pass a person ever picked up a microphone once in their life
and maybe maybe that an issue with the commission now much saying that i'm not a sociopath but you you know your family man you got two kids listen you seem our eyes listen you psychopath comedians might be narcissistic sociopath i looked up the definition sociopath ok does like eleven things
like that that you can do let's look the circle it up right now looked one thing i know for anti social parents is one of a parachute but like i mean antisocial the world's out to get you know what i'm going over there i think this of us all
gonna check check one for me what
parents will later i go in this field trip now christ
adaptation and the other day he went on a field trip bad he fell off the boss he's got he's gone
you do about it
first jokes
in the other day in the kid died from it funny gaiety
when a driver's over the door my my dad would now by look at it it's fucking lairs
i won't do it either with one kids get about every fuckin
only once a year hang on a sec spot associate with sociopath
sorry with the bad mikey sociopath traits misspelt spelt trap
how do i data files sociopath telling signs and be here what the fuck
i want this work
come on my daddy's as a people that we disagree with that they were crazy crazy they practice it is associate there
what is a sociopath
characteristics and personality traits of sociopaths are based on
by clinicians who use the dsl method without
they realize morons want to read this i don't give a shit
just make a list they should be just a listener this show
without right where the most
personality characterises sociopath is their grandiose sense of self entitlement nigh don't have that i go the other way solution
fats off also often display a lack of remorse yet and more
have a very manipulative personality covered by superficial charm
i know a couple of those who i know a couple of these guy you two hour i now wait a minute i'm not now to your nurse
who has add
our goal it that's here i was told to go with you don't do that hit men shit that's it man i don't
i don't have a sense of self entitlement nor do i hit me blow someone's brain
goes you two sandwich does a sociopath gets mad that you get blood on his shirt right yeah that was that was that thing in good fellows years i'm sorry about your floor that's that's it that's what it is i don't want your blown up
i feel that i have friends ships and romantic partners are often frequently disregard
and replace when the relationship no longer suits their self centered needs emotion
associate
just thinking about being a sociopath
most of it and then be a sociopath what do you think they're doktor version i think not doktor verde i talk to buy not doctors were now i think what's it called i'd die think that it's the remorse thing in a definite thing is the first thing he said the sense of entitlement like this is the cool on here look at this one jesus christ
cool like in my reptilian stairway the emotions of a sociopath may appear to be sincere on the surface cleverly disk
eyes by super superficial charm and faint interest
christ that was me and every class classroom ever was it sit there act like you
interested i can colony many socio
message to draw others to them
like lying is a characteristic
nearly all sociopath recklessness and aggressive behaviors are other characters
as well as impulsivity a lack of remorse
he said that what is generally termed conscience is typical for sociopaths disguise repeat himself
the combination of at least three
of the common sociopath characteristics paints a pretty good description of the common sociopath actually lost interest halfway fucking through that all right
i didn't realize it just did that again
because narcissist of the selfishness but it's almost like a good guy stuff whatever dude i really like
luke aside come mainly
a narcissist but then i could be right really considerate and generous that didn't lucas my son lucas's gemini he's got when you look at what a german i streets i did he gives every one of us is christ ones when he taken up the crystal ball hangers i love i brought up fuck it
very cristobal guy lover i brought a german eyes and then you start talking about signs in an act like you brought it up case file nurse assist grandpa
narcissist
says i was saying i maybe when she ain't maybe i would agree with that of the rights vowing didn't come up narcissistic traits or or we beheld called the avis licences
behaviors our citys have remorse do they think so they feel bad things
a coherent love i thought i found one that's done down thirty red flags of being ignored
still dad dad guy i
you feel on edge around this person but
still want to but you still
them to like you what is this where some even if you what the fuck and one who was you in this
so what's the difference about this list well for one it's specifically about relationship but it's also about you each point requires introspection and self awareness
because if you want to spot toxic people you cannot see
this entirely on their behaviour that's only half the
adam s pretty cool
he must also come to recognize the looming red flags in your own heart
so this is saying if you're in a relationship with the narcissist it didn't have a list
i'm trying to make it easy on i said thirty less like thirty things nothing movement
we can actually use our brains just figure this out here with
on edge around this person but you still want them to like you
