Let's go get one of the cruellest things that I get to see as part of my job is the manifestation of the product or products that I dreamed up and created and feared out how to do like. So many of you as a business owner, you get these ideas in your head and it is incredible to get to watch them come to fruition, and I started dreaming about one of our most popular products thus start today journal. I served dreaming about this a couple of years ago. I had been doing this daily practice based on several different people. I had heard about several different things and I gotta put them together into one daily practice, which was every single day. I wrote down the dreams I had for my life, but I wrote them as if they had already happened. There's something really powerful about claiming a goal as if it's already done, and I rode down every day- and it was how I set my intentions and then I would post about it on social and so many people. What are you doing? What is that? Where do I get that journal knives like eyes? It's not a journal, it's just a notebook, I'm just riding down the same thing every single day, but what I think is interesting, as business owners or creators is often times. In fact, most of the time your audience will tell you what it wants from you and I kept pushing it off because I was like you guys. This is not a big deal, but it was, and people kept asking for, and I finally just thought what, if I turn this into a product and I started to dream and plan- and I literally taped pictures to the wall of my office, of what I dreamed that my journal would look like in the intention behind it, and I wanted the covers to be really pretty, and I wanted it to be something that you could do once a quarter and then, as you complete at each journal. You'd have a stack of this evidence of how intentional you were about your life and we figured it out, and I mean you know some times we messed up on the shipping and sometimes we rest up on the interior. But we failed our way to where we are today, which is the start today journal in the hands of hundreds of thousands of people. So incredible such a blessing for me to be able to go on Instagram and see hashtag start today journal and see people all over the world using this practice as a way to aim in the direction of their dreams. So if you are not four million- and you want to check it out, you can over to the Hollis code, dot com forward, slash shop and find out all about my favorite practice turned my favorite product and, if you're not in the market, to buy remember that episode. Seventy two of this pod cast gives you the exact step by step so that you can do it in whatever note book you have laying around for free, you dont have to buy a product, but you should be doing this daily practice. It will literally literally change your life.

These are that to change your life today on the podcast, I'm sitting down with online marketing expert educator and the host of online getting made easy, Amy Porter Field where discussing what it takes to create peace. cesspool online marketing campaign. Why process are p and how entrepreneurs can bypass self doubt so You know someone lives under a rock if they have never heard of you before we? U I'm. We tell us what you do and then how you got here he has so I hope
a budding. Entrepreneurs build their email less as they begin to start. business on mine and then from their create online training courses based on their skills and their knowledge, so that they do have to work one on wine, but they could work. Why too many from there I teach them how to use web honors in order to promote their courses online so primarily focus on less building course. Creation and web honours. Now was a guy but did not. How did you get? How did you get started? How did you get that that is very specific liner figure, so very drew okay, so drew okay, so bad the day. I started my marketing career with Harley Davidson motorcycles, but I M not a biker check by now and so that's kind of ere. I started to learn about this whole idea of a tribe and loyal followers, and I mean they would Do the logo, the brand on their arms, so they were like diehards, so I did that
My early days of learning marketing, but from there I am Dawn to work with peak performance, coach, Tony Robins, and for six and a half years I got to travel the world would Tony and his team and work on the content that he would Who onstage and in his digital, proud, max, and so that really where I learned how to create content and well was there about the last two years we started getting into online launches, so we learn from some of the best of the best in the industry because Tony's well connected. So he brought in these internet marketing, gurus and he taught us how to launch our digital products online and, at that time, This is how humbling it was. I was called into a meeting to take notes at table? That was not the main table and I was pushed into a corner, and I was asked to take notes and he brought in all these internet marketers. They were all guys and
they were doing big things with their online courses, and so he went around any said. Tell me about your business, I'm interested. I want to get more and all my launches. I want to hear about what you do so guys would talk about their businesses and my ears pricked up like white in the world. Are they talking about because they talked about there? I've style and their freedom and running their business in calling the shots- and I thought I dont know what you guys are talking about, but I need some of that ends. in tat moment, I got this entrepreneurial bag, but it was until about a year later that I really got the courage to think I could do this on my own, all year. I asked to move into the marketing department with Tony Robins business and HU the live launches and launch products, and we did weapon hours, we focus unless building we created courses and so It was my launching ground for me personally. About a year later I got the curve, to start working just
part time. So I could work on my own business on the side had no idea really what I was going to do. Then I the courage after working part time to say. Can I worked home a little bed after he was working from home a little bit. I asked why did sk. I said: ok, I'm in a do this and I took the leap in started, my own, all my getting business, which was just doing social media for people, that's all I knew how to do at the time said that kind of how this whole thing got started out. I don't even know where to start up. We must, talked about this when I did your pike, because he and must have said to you. You know that turnarounds my greatest
no, it was so we'll never talked about, but I dont think and in fact, if you know anything negative about, I'm you can't ever to make. Is that so much? I love love goodbye armies, impersonal, be easy for you to tell me that that was real. I love him so much and I respect what you ve done so It makes my life. I'm I'm having even trouble for me words right now, I'm so excited asked questions. So I guess what I wanted I would like to know if you start off and you go. From Harley to Ravens researcher or performance or what whenever a part of his business, your kid. At the time, and both of those strikes me as very male dominated and like businesses that accurate to say yes very much so, and so how does it feel? I mean even the story with like you're either taking notes in the corner. How did it feel to did that feel in submitting to you do you feel like you were able to colonel
adopt some of that behaviour, bravado. How did it feel to be a young woman in those spaces very intimidating and I didn't have tons of confidence in doing what I was doing and so I was very worried about what would people think of me. If I said I want to go out on my own, I want to create my own courses and do my own launches. I don't even think I utter that to anybody other than my husband, because I was embarrassed because, Nobody else was talking about that in the Robins organisation doing their own thing and it was the bunch, a man that were actually even older than me at the time. So I thought I dont know it's funny. You asked this question because, looking back you know why thought but even an option. I could see myself in anybody that was doing it at the time, not real when I started to research, explored. There were some women that were kicking by and I gravitated toward them instantly.
Four LEO was one of the people I met still out bans I ran into her at alive event that I was going to for this guy Frank Kern. We were in the hallways of course we were early to the event, I'm always earlier everything, so I'm early and so ashamed. We started talking. She was probably the first female entrepreneur who is already invite, and thank God her cause. I needed to see myself somewhere out. There's about was I gotta, God guided for sure how not weigh year was this one? You decided is that on your own, too, thousand and nine even though, in her heart minute, yet how has the industry evolve and change, and this is such an ever shifting. and an ever shifting space. Yes, you your life, what you're doing idea of lists building an email, it that's tried and true in that, doesn't go anywhere. So that's a good question
because I do feel like what I do is tried and true- and this is something that I have been talking about all along for almost ten years- how ever back when I started it was slimy are actually it was big, yellow buttons, flashing on a lead package that you know era saint sign up here in an? U dimly note your signing up for, and things felt a little shady back then, whereas now. You know transparency as a key word. We all use in authenticity those words were not being thrown around back then, and I am so glad that they are now so, as I've kind of come into my own in built this online business. It's really refreshing that I get to be more of myself where back then? I wasn't for sure. However, the weird thing is, if your choice, starting out now? I think you have a huge advantage that you walk into this being courage and celebrated to be yourself and show up adjust. as you are where I've
the almost learn that, because it's not like I've been fake, but I sure, as hell and been sharing all parts to me. I think that's why I am so a huge fan of you, because you share all parts of you before now, didn't learn that back in the day it might have been there, but I didn't see it ensures heck these guys, weren't talking about it. It's a different world. In that sense, how you show up today is very different, how you had to show it back then that so back at the beginning of your career of love, to hear about how you think I mean I know you said: link with hardly learning about tribes and culture and someone Karen that much about a brand play such a role into the business that you will end up, building How did I am how traveling the world with hand and working at that company? which I would imagine you works first
at a young age in your career, to kind of what feels like to me like infinite possibility. Yes, given his connections and who he knows where you're travelling to and the reaction from the fair do you think that that set you up to believe me anything- is possible. A million per cent. One thing that you will like to hear that I have said many many times. Is that the way Tony is on stage is exactly how he is back stages. Well, so all of that passion all of that energy. All of that in your face, he is like that twenty four seven, and so we we would create content behind the scenes and will work on new projects. He There was never a time that we say Tony. We can't do that, and it was. That we said yes to everything, we could throw a bunch of money at it. I was never an option. It was git, resourceful and figure out how we're going to do this, and so because
that was in my face every single day. Now that I have this business, there is never a time that somebody on my team tells me that we cannot do something. They wouldn't be all my team. If they did, I all please don't like. I know in my bones that there is all these away to figure this out, and it may not happen today or tomorrow, but it is going to happen and I completely that from what I learned, working with Tony and and building I am watching him build what he was building, and so all of that, That possibility, like you said it is exactly what is shaped need to be who I am today, so I was very lucky in that early in my career. I work for a production company and the industry is so cut through an absolutely is whenever we ask you for we needed it yesterday when we ask you, for there is no such thing as no you just gotta figure out
This is really stressful when you know when you were, but when I get that have been in my career, because I think it's the same thing is, of course we can Of course we know how could I liked the amount of things like shooting cover of a book or launching a website was a real just figure. These things. I should go

If you have been looking for a nudge, if you have been looking for something to kick start change, I promise this is the thing I can already in everything you do. I knew that just by watching. That's why I love you so much and so call from it. this standpoint. They found what you do now. Wanna dig into this, because I am also- I will tell you and probably like the problem child I have an email less than I've, actually gotten crap from other people who do what you do. I use it correctly list, and I don't think I have any mail I send on Sundays. It tends to just be like a few little nuggets. Like yours, what's happening in my life, I don't really use it to sell,
I have not like I should I don't wear, I'm terrible I'm going to let this a lot of people on it and I think I'm just like a girl, kids, my new favorite nail polish color and I have gotten some some grease from people Why are you doing so? I would love to, and please don't laugh at what a dumb question. This is bad. I understand the power of email in that someone in giving the access to their inbox button. I feel like Leslie isn't really my problem. I just I don't know that I do the job with it never happened earlier for people like Negro ass, you like a girl, I get it, but with two can you talk to the value of that? and how you can use it as a resource in your life for sure you actually don't give yourself enough chronic as I get your email and I actually love that Sunday, personal email, where I get a glimpse into your life. So here as working for me girl. I love that now, though
One thing that you're doing really right and I want everybody to hear this is- and I get this question a lot now that I have an email list. What do I do How do I emailed them? How do I take advantage of this? While the first thing you do? Is you email once a week and that's exactly what you're doing you need to show up in their inbox same time same place every single week with some kind of great value, whether it be the personal stuff like my favorite nail, polish or hey check out this latest podcast are bought blog posts that I wrote so that is your already doing it, and you want to be doing that. That's where you're going to start. From there once have a list and people are opening it up and opening up your emails in their used to hearing from you and they like to hear from you in at one step. Further is building now funnels or camp ain't? So let's say you ve got a problem. Before coming up down and you want to build out three four or five miles depending on how long this promotions going to happen where Europe the email more aggressively, and this is where people get nervous, and
it's so powerful, when get out of your comfort zone and you put together. These emails you say have got this great opportunity. Let me tell you about it. Your link in two, maybe a webinar where you're going to explain it or video. Were you talk about it and then course. You're sending them to a sales page or somewhere where they can buy this only happens a few times a year and it is more. massive in the sense that let's say I was doing a two week promotion I might I'll, seven or eight times during that promotion. Now- email you two times and you don't open up my email I said, and I say, ok, I'm going to send you any more promotional emails over the next weeks, your I'd interested, so we pay attention to whose opening and whose not, but if you're open and you have a by yet you're gonna get all of my emails and the magical thing that happens is if you get four or five emails, where I'm telling stories, maybe a key. Steady. Linking to something really call may be a challenge in the challenge I eventually cell, whatever it might be.
you are more likely to buy. If you continue to offer my emails to the end, most people buy at the end of a promotion, consecutive emails over a period of time is exactly how you get me will the bite you email marketing and that's what we'll get a little bit nervous than they do. I said I'm not gonna be nervous, I'm going to send all of these emails during it Promotion is when I hit my guess numbers. So that's what you want to do next, you just blew my line, You love. I love this. This is such an incredible power about the wisdom that we all carry them. always understand what was the middle other people have value, this other people think I'm down, but honestly it has never hurt. You need a segment the list for people who are Oh, I love that. You said that the only anxiety no. I don't want to bother them, but of course, of course I should segment the people
because then only the people who wanted are going to get it. Why are you going to trick me before holy smokes? I am positive. You have ecourses and things and you're, damn right that we all go table. We will lead to it and show notes if you are like me you have a business any gaps and emails we're gonna last year, all of any such so we can all be geniuses. can I can I asked you for someone like me. I know we have other western too. Who are maybe I'm right now? It really is like. I really am the wonder and gave us maybe you're like we know that was clearly obvious really, and no one now chant writing the thing finding the pictures. What and I know that this is not sustainable. It's why we don't have you be dark campaigns are or any other fancy words that you use
cuz it's just not like. I don't have that capacity. I kind of only can do what I'm doing right now for someone like me, is it to me of all kind of clients, but do you have people you suggest like bringing one in house or holding onto it. As long as you can help me how do you advise people who are trying to scale their email list? Gray, question I don't think there is anything wrong with you writing your own content, especially if that's your zone of genius, which, for you it is an for men. people it's just where they love to spend time, but beyond writing the actual email or writing the content that you're going to link to yes, I evidently think all the other stuff sourcing image giddy set up in your email service provider like male champ or whatever you use and it sent out and in putting together the segmenting you're, sending it to the right people use? be doing. None of that. So you right now.
Google dark and that's the only thing you do, a visa could step in and do all the rest so their size. The like such a dummy right now, but there are, I am really some them. There are people who just making us for a living That's their job without new, don't tell them at all. This is why I am talking to you, because you have the questions and everybody else is in, especially because in my mind had been teaching it so long that I forget, like there's these little middle questions, that people want to know. So I love this. It's not that there's somebody out there that, just as that, but why? What is There is a virtual assistance that will do just about anything. If you talk to them and set up a system more together, you can set up a system so happy. I you could hire somebody just five hours weak- and that is the only thing they do. There is a virtual assistant- that's chomping at the bit to do that for you, one hundred percent- that such a great that such great, whether by a mean, because I do that
This is something when you are a small business for sure you're, just starting out. You know we all tend to where fifty seven hats and as much as the business has scaled is still hard for me to let go of some of the things that were when I originally. I- and I heard you talk about this on other people's podcast. I would love for you to share a little bit. About how you structure. You got pretty lake heart hardcore course, not the right word, but you're really specific with what you do during the week when you do things how You think I remember you and someone's like us talking about doing like your facebook groups on a certain day am I making up now? I do not know it sounds like a printing regimented with what your schedule at it schedule is and how you give away some of that works. That's not all falling on you would. You talked about a low, but yes, so systems and processes Arme jam. That's the thing that I love more than anything I feel like. I should have been a personal organizer in another life and so
I like to do that in my own business. So a few things when I'm going to do a facebook live, I have a private facebook group for all my students. I always choose a specific day a specific time, and then have somebody. I maintain that the day before collects all questions from my students, so she puts out opposed and she says. Ok, I want all your questions. Amy, live below tomorrow at noon. So we like to prepare, I no. My strains in one of my strange is not necessarily answering questions off the cuff, and so I like to look at em. I takes me five minutes to look at them in advance, but I liked Cunningest know what's ahead of me and then I do a much better job. So this little step of collecting questions in advance goes a long way for me to show up better, and so what we do so I have people my team cunning get organised in the back end. So when I show up only thing to do is show up and I'm good to go so I've gotta,
are those little systems inside the business. So great you feel, like you walked into this business without already like as a part of you, or do you think you ve had to learn how to adopt some of that a year in order to keep up minutely, I had to adopt some of that behaviour. I think I'm naturally organised, however, being organised in my closet in my house is very different. The meeting organised online, and so here my little secret for that when I get frustrated with a team member. I have a small team, their six of us, but when I get this pressure with someone on my team or if I get frustrated with just, process in general, like this is always hard every time we do this, fills messy and it's hard, and I hate that feeling it's like my my ding, Ding ding. We need a process or we need a system, and so I sit down and it takes practice inhabit because I dont want. sit down and figure out what the system is.
If I'm really honest with myself twenty minutes later, we ve got a system everybody's on board. I talked to every need to talk to and work you go because, typically, if I'm fine, traded with somebody on my team. It's likely because I haven't communicated exact how I want a dime and I'm the boss, so I better make sure that that is very much clear too. Everybody on the team, so I put it all myself to create a system if its not working out well and then we, I'll just start to follow it. So it has been.
a habit, but it's not always natural, and so it's so good, though, are you done? You said now, like you don't like answering questions of the cup and I'm answer, I'm asking no question: there are all good guy. You know your any grand number. Are you into that at all? I am, and I cant remember the number, but I'm a natural helper, which one is that think you're media to yes, exactly to ask- and I say it too and I got nervous- is eight into do yeah. So I just some always tourism people described there how they function in business or their management style. Do you I feel, like I mean, were you given the opportunity to manage team members when you were at the company's you right before you started your own or do you have to know? I was. I was a manager over at the Robins organization so and I wasn't the greatest one. I I have a best friend that I managed and she still my best friend and she folks with me about like our rough time as me, learning how to be a manager, but I,
a gala, my team she's, my project director and her name's Chloe. She ever really managed anybody one on one before she came on the team and I'm watching her. She now manages most everyone on my team and I your and I remembered it's a hard thing- she's reading the new one minute manager and she's listening to podcast about teen building and culture, and I forget that you ve got You have to teach yourself this step because it does not come. Naturally, foremost. Oh my gosh, not at all, and I leave even iphones at this- is ever thirteen almost fourteen years and I still reading the leadership Box and still trying to figure out how to do it better and and analyze with working in. What's not be I just love that inside those Ashley and taking notes as one way I'm not kidding. Basically, I am, I am her progress for We re, not everything. You say why the idea in each hand it feels hard or false frustrating
and we found ourselves in a situation again, because I do think I saw him. Three on the the achiever. She hate detail and I with a passion like and God bless my operation manager. Who knows the top line. I need high level. I dont want to know the tiny minutiae. She is excellent that she's a too we were really, to give up there, but I just can't help my brain wants to explode. I just can't so this is so good for me to hear there- are those things in our lives. Where are we ready to frustration or its not working, and it's very hard for me to low down long enough to build the process to make it better. Ok, so let me ask you a quick question like we're on my own pied gas, you bein a three like detail as my thing and so for you, it's not, and I could see how it could. I make your skin cross sometimes so, if, if it's not
I'm assuming, then you just make sure you surround yourself with people that will handle all of that yeah right yeah. You get worried that you don't know the details. Wilson I know the detail. I need to know I had I work worked this place. Obviously like back Medea can afford them assistance. I did know everything, but I see that I don't want to know the detail it, for instance, I this might some crazy to someone who loves detail, but I tremble a time for work and are often don't even like. I know city I'm going to, but I dont know meetings and taking I don't know anything until like I'm on the fly and I'm looking at my tribute pats, cool bonus, so called that you know yourself so that in, the team knows who you are and what aid and so would just starts to work together, and I feel like for me to be the longest time too, to understand, because for years I would sit in these meetings and being the team
so. I think, need to figure out those does tiny like we got a new crosser he's dot our eyes and it's exactly said it makes my skin. I feel like I'm like this feels like the biggest wasted time in the world, because I, like we ve, got goal dreams and things the work for you like what time the coffee arrives. I just it's not my thanks, though it me a really long time to get a place. I read enough books, rivalries, oh my gosh, I hate detail and the show my office manager, loves it and so were sitting in these meetings and just telling her that okay, I can shorten the amount of detail to exactly what you need and get rid of the stuff that you and and such such a to my life ass such gal, I being a to one area. I struggle that I literally read books about, and I I put it in of me like. This is something I need to focus on when, because
I care so much about the detail and I like to be in the organization the systems I am the leader of this team and I need to be the visionary. I need to have the big ideas and get creative and look forward and it's hard to look forward, when your heads down details as all day girl like any, but unlike I got this let's go. I love that I want that. I hope that we began. We stay friends and that rubs our high get either down so good part of the interesting that is, if you are this person you have, is the golden dreams and plan you have to have a balance with the people. Who can you can put his temper that enthusiasm, Org, okay, wait a minute! We've got to figure out how we got to figure out that I'm like? No! No! No. I don't want to figure out how I just want to talk to you. What
We did a my thirty fifth birthday gift to myself was he went to undeceive mastery in January and one of my favorite part of that was none of them, figure out how just know the. Why and know the what figure out how later, but if you can, text. Allow yourself to see the goal of a war because you want to create, and if you know your belly in your got. This is why it matters to me that will take you miles down the road. he and get caught in the minutiae of you Oh my gosh.
