they were going to be talking about the five pieces that make up how to have the mindset of a winner and I'm going to talk about two of the greatest athletes of all time. We're going to talk about Michael Jordan and we're going to talk about Tom Brady and what made them different than other people. This doesn't have to be just athletes. This translates into high performers, but what I like to do is I like to look at people who are completely outside of what's normal when you look at Michael Jordan in a typical basketball player completely outside of what's normal, and you look at Tom Brady and all football players completely outside of what's normal, and so I did a lot of research on both of them for this episode, because I really wanted to figure out what's going on inside of their mindset. What's going, what are they thinking about? What are they doing? What sets them apart from everybody else, and therefore they can be. You know, given the title of goat, which stands for the
best of all time, and so we're going to go through the five differences. I'm going to teach you exactly how those things work. Ok, here's one thing I'm going to say, though, before I go into these five things. One thing that I have found with people is that winners win losers loose it's. This is not some that you're born with, which is important. This is a mindset and a mindset can be shifted and it's really about the way that you look at things. Winners win losers lose. If somebody just has this mindset of I'm going to win no matter
what eventually they're going to win so important thing to understand, you know it's like, I think it was vince. Lombardi said I never was.
He said I never lost a game. I simply ran out of time right. So it's like you have to have the mindset of I'm going to win no matter what so
Winners win and losers lose. How can you have the mindset of I'm going to win? No matter? What and everything you do? Okay, so number one first thing that makes these the mindset of these people. So different from everybody else, as they are ubs,
just knew. I used to listen to Jim wrote a lot when I was younger Jim rome cause it a magnificent obsession, a magnificent obsession like how can I be so obsessed with this thing, and so one of the things that's important is that I think a lot of people are not obsessed with what it is that they're doing it's. It's like they're following this path, because it's going to make the money where their father's path, because they think this is what they're supposed to do with someone like Michael jordans, were like Tom Brady. It was a a
session for them- and you know Michael Jordan's, quoted saying I never wanted to say I wish I could have done more in their whole. Life is dedicated to. How can I become better like when you look at Tom Brady and you look at his entire life was built around how to become better football player, his diet, his work out, and they said that throughout the season and throughout the off season is well, he would spend twelve hours a day
either playing football or his body. Twelve hours a day when you're forty four years on you're playing football, you get hit by three hundred pound men. You ve gotta folks in your body, but has twelve hours a day of how can he become better? That is an obsession
right, and so you don't want to have the idea of like I wish I could have done more. You know he said
net wish. I would have I not never.
To say my entire life. I wish I could have done more in. So what can you do to find something that you can be absolutely obsessed with
you know like. If you wanna be a guitar player, then you want to be a professional topic. Are you need to be fucking obsessed with playing a tar I've, a friend of mine, who is one of the best qatar players that I've ever seen, and he is obsessed with playing a time when he sees
the best guitar players that ever lived- and you hear about them like I remember, reading about stevie Raven and they said that he was always playing a tar and he would take it back to the point where he would take it to the bathroom with him like he was so obsessed this thing. Can you find something that you can be that obsessed with
you don't get it do you have to get to the bathroom Wendy, but can you find something that is? That is your magnificent obsession is Jim run says, can number two? Is the winners? Don't see any other option right motors, don't see any other option. This is something that that the winners they go in with I'm going to leave everything on the court wherever there's, whether its core, whether it's a field, whether it's your workplace every single day. How can you go in with the mindset of I'm going to win and leave every single
Thing on the court- and this is something that I think is a super important- is- is to go in there with the mindset and think I'm going to make it I'm going to make it I'm going to make it I'm going to make it. I remember when I was a kid I used to play basketball as obsessive basketball. I used to play basketball with the idea of I hope I don't miss. I was kind of a pessimistic child which most people wouldn't understand with me because they think oh man, he must have been optimistic. All the time.
No, I literally played play basketball, loving it, but hoping that I wouldn't miss in so as a winter, you ve gotta, see it as I'm going to win, I'm going twin, I'm not going to miss I'm going to make it I'm going to make it. How can you go into every single day, without sort of mindset of I'm going to succeeded at this this business that I'm building I'm going to succeed this this video that I'm making is going to be the best video that could pass
We make with all my skill set. The sign that I'm going to write is going to be one of the best saws. I've ever rehn is go into it with, I hope, it'll mess it up.
don't go with that. I had to go into it. I'm going to make this the bessie I possibly can winners, don't see any other option, but winning. How can you bring that into every single thing that you do number three? They understand that messing up is literally just part of the process,
They know in their mindset, never waivers depending on the mess up like you know, they might go into practice and they might have a crappy day. Tom re might have a day where he just throws more interest.
since any that normally does he's not going
a man may be. I am getting two older. Maybe this isn't for me, or maybe maybe I'm not supposed to be doing this. Maybe I should pick up
alibaba or something like that, their mindset never waivers. They understand that
we're. Gonna have good days. You're gonna have bad days. You mindset cannot waiver, that's the biggest difference is a lot
people that I see when you go into starting a new business and you have one bad mud. They think maybe this isn't for me. Maybe I should go back to work for somebody else now your minds. It has to be I'm going to win this, I'm going to screw a lot of stuff up intervention and a figure it out. You know for me, I train a lot of people who are coaches, like one of my apartment, business, training, coaches on how to grow coaching businesses and one in the phrase I say to them all the time is fuck it up and figure it out like that. Completely fine, like just understand that messing up as part of the process,
as messing up is part of the process, I'm in the middle of getting certified as if to fly a plane right in literally my bed before my flight instructor knew it. I did
I came in we're gonna do take off and landings
fully intend that you're going to mess up a lot of times but dashes what you have to do in order to get better. I'm like I know, that's what a trained people and tell them all the time you gotta fuck it up and figure it out. You've gotta have an even says that you've got to have some bad landings so that you know what not to do the next time that you go around in it's a feeling thing. It's not just like. Oh, this is mechanics.
What's feeling its things have to move and shift in its like once you know what it feels like to mess up,
how you messed up. It makes it easier to avoid that the next time you know they can.
The game winning shot over.
over and over again, but they still want to take the game when he shot the next night you're one of the famous closer Michael Jordan says
It says I miss more than nine thousand shots in my career. I've lost three hundred games. Twenty six times. I've been trusted to take the game winning shot, and I missed I failed over and over and over again in my life, and that is why I succeed, and it's just you know the the the guy who started honda, honda motors he he literally says one of his famous quotes. His success is ninety nine percent failure. You just have to succeed one one percent of the time. They know that they won't be perfect. They know
that that to get a mess up without won't change your mind set on anything eight. Today's programme is brought to you by athletic greens, the health and well as company that makes comprehensive daily nutrition really really simple, eighty one by us that a green

So what can you think about that? How can you do that? How can you take that piece into whatever it is that they do? Whatever is a huge excuse? Me number four: they also surround themselves with winters right. They surround themselves with other people who are winners and they stop surrounding himself with other people who are not. I remember a story about this is: is kobe bryant when he first came into league
He had what he called that something called goat, mountain and goat mountain was all of the best, the greatest of all time in basketball. So I was like Michael Jordan. It was magic johnson who is akeem olajuwon. Then it was this list of some of the best players that ever played
in what happened was a lot of kobe, bryant friends. When they were friends in high school, he didn't hang out with them as much anymore.
He really started to hang out with people who are older than him, who are some the best basketball players that have ever existed and he started surrounding himself with the people who he thought, we're on goat mountain and what he said ass. He said I knew that that would offend some of my friends, but my true friends. The people who really love me would understand
that, in order for me to be one of the best that ever did it? I would have to surround myself with some of the best that ever did it. So you've got to think about
who are the people that around you and what type of atmosphere they creating for you? Are they creating an atmosphere for you to be a winner as well
Are they pushing me to be better? They motivating you to the best version of a challenging you in calling you're out of your bullshit. Sometimes,
When you say oh yeah, you know today, I didn't I didn't work out.
torres I wanted to, because you know I was just so tired from X, y z and they're, like hey man. You've done that three times this week, but you need someone, that's not going to just allow you to slip. You need someone to push yourself harder, so they surrounded themselves with other people who were winners. Some know, Michael Jordan, was kobe bryant says. Michael Jordan was basically like his older brother, and sometimes you would call him at three o'clock.
Morning, he would say: hey man, I've got a question about this turnaround. You know this this fadeaway jumper. What did you do here? How do you do this? How do you get the defense off you when you're on your back? You know when you start. Actually he actually started talking to him all of the time he knew that already become one of the greatest. You have to surround yourself with the greatest as well. So that's number four and we're five. These people have hard core discipline, hard core discipline. So here's the trick. You know I've never heard people that were just like yeah, I just you know, ended up becoming one of the best there ever was, and so, if you want to have the mindset of the winner, you have to understand that it's all about the process. It's all about the process of doing what needs to be done. Have you ever heard of the phrase? It's all about the process and not the destination? It's all about the journey. Let me explain, dopamine is a chemical is inside of a brain that makes you feel good and dopamine is also.
Called the chemical of motivation and so most people, they want to become a millionaire, for instance, that's the goal they want to achieve when they want to achieve winning a championship or whatever might be there. What happens is they think to themselves? And I hear people says all the time. If I get you know, I don't want to be satisfied, because if I am satisfied that I'm not going to work as hard one of the worst ideas that you could pass me
Here's a reason why? Because then you're holding the dopamine, your literally holding out the dopamine, which is the chemical
motivation which has released, which makes you feel good you're holding out dopamine until you become
billionaire he holding out the dublin until you win the championship. That's gonna make it really hard to get motivated in so some of the best people. Actually, they don't know that they do this they're setting up dopamine reward systems around the process, so, for instance,
Michael Jordan, is famous for showing up two hours before everybody during practice and leaving two hours they than anybody else in so his dopamine. I dont think that he did on purpose, but his dopamine reward system that he created for himself was probably a dope, not a dope amino or system those built around winning the championship. Even though that was the ultimate goal, his joke meter, ward sis was built around I'm going to show up and be there before anybody else.
put in more work before anybody else in when you would wake up at four o clock in the morning and five o clock in the morning. He probably got dopamine from the fact of you know what I know there's nobody else working right now. I know there's nobody at the gym right now. I know there's nobody else, it's working as hard as I am right now, and so, instead of attaching his dopamine too
the achievement of the goal like winning a championship, his dopamine was attached to knowing
He was the only person, though, showing up at four o clock in the morning or two hours before practice are staying two hours after practice. What did not make him do made him want to do it again. The next day your brain is comprised of chemicals, and if you can do
detach, ok, I know my visit attack, as is all chemicals
kind of like a drug at its meeting of this kind of how I've ones brain as you get attached to certain chemicals you get attach. That's where misery those companies, some people, get attaching addicted towards feeling miserable feeling terrible unfeeling stressed. How can you make yourself become attached to the feeling of falling in
with the process in knowing hey, there's, no one else right now. Let's make phone calls there's. No one else sets up this early build their business. I'm the only one do this in celebrating yourself for showing up and actually doing it.
in in having dopamine rewards, not towards winning the championship and achieve
Whatever the goal is, but have dopamine reward systems around the actual actions that needed to be taken to get there, so you know if you want to be a millionaire. For instance, you, like you, know what I won't be happy with myself until a man being until I'm, the milliner people think that all the time, instead of that, what is the processes? What are the actions that you need to take in order to be?
I am a millionaire in order to build that business to be a millionaire in order to get to wherever is you're trying to get to find out what the
As one you know, what any do I need to wake up at four o'clock in the morning and start you know, building emails to find more prospects. My brand new business, okay, perfect, will then wake up at four o'clock in the morning, get yourself some coffee and start to work towards it and then be proud of yourself for putting in the work, knowing that no one else is up at this time. If you does every single morning, you're gonna start to fall in love with the process of the actions that needs to be taken in order to grow your business, whatever that you needed to. If you want to become a professor,
well athlete, instead of attaching your your your dopamine reward system with getting into the n b a or getting into the nfl, attach it to the process of the actions that need to be taken to be one of the best football players ever to be one of the best basketball players ever. This is something that a super importance a way for you to trick your mind and trick your body into actually doing what needs to be done. Do not say to yourself I'll, be happy when I get there figure out a way to be happy now and when you're happy now with the process, you will eventually get there. So those are the five mindset techniques that some of the most successful winners in the world have number one. They are
absolutely obsessed with what they do. Number two. They don't see anything other than winning as an option number three. They understand they're going to fail. They understand they're gonna, miss miss shots. They understand that messing up is just a part of the process before they surround themselves with other when other winners number five and they have hardcore self discipline about doing what needs to be done in order to get themselves to where they want to go. So that's what I
